Minnesota Twins news, rumors and injuries

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) likely is receiving the day off and should return soon. Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has seen limited playing time this season but is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Ordinarily we wouldn't deal with players like Buxton, except he's one of the hottest prospects in baseball still in the minor leagues. If he keeps hitting like this the Twins might give him a look later in the season. Buxton is worth a draft pick in leagues that let you pick up minor leaguers.

Fantasy Tip: Hughes ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) was in the midst of a fine start against the Detroit Tigers before his hip impingement knocked him out this week. The Oakland Athletics are a decent matchup for Hughes on Monday, but you may want to play it safe and avoid him at FantasyScore coming off a short outing.

Minnesota Twins OF Oswaldo Arcia is out of the starting lineup against a left-hander Friday, May 1. OF Shane Robinson is starting in center field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana.
Fantasy Tip: Robinson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) had two hits last night and is hitting .342 (13-for-38) in limited duty as a backup outfield for the Twins. However, Robinson has very little offensive upside for those looking for a cheap outfield candidate at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Schafer ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) won't be a popular or smart play at FantasyScore tonight coming off a knee injury, and he's hitting only .188 (9-for-48) with two RBI on the season. He's also facing a lefty, and he hit just .143 (7-for-49) with no homers against southpaws in 2014. Avoid him everywhere.

Fantasy Tip: Milone ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) posted a 7.20 ERA through 15 innings over his past three starts, so he held minimal fantasy value to begin with. He can be dropped in all mixed leagues. He is a low-upside stash in cavernous AL-only leagues, as he could be forced into starting duty again at some point this season.
Thu, 30 Apr 2015 14:41:05 -0700
Fantasy Tip: A pitch count is typically bad news for fantasy upside, so Nolasco ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) isn't a great option for FantasyScore contests Saturday. Outside of AL-only leagues, Nolasco will have to prove he can handle the American League before he warrants a roster spot. Take a wait-and-see approach with Nolasco.

Fantasy Tip: Minnesota hitters have struggled at the plate, and are striking out way too much and not taking enough walks. While Escobar ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) has hit safely in back-to-back games for just the third time this season, but he hasn't hit in three in a row yet. Avoid him for Thursday's game, especially against an arm like Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale.
Wed, 29 Apr 2015 16:32:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Schafer ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is likely to miss at least a couple of days, if not longer, after injuring his knee. Shane Robinson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) replaced Schafer in center in the game, and he could see a few starts in center field depending on how long Schafer sits out. Robinson doesn't tip the scales at all at FantasyScore.
Wed, 29 Apr 2015 14:47:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hughes ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) was coming off his best start of the year, giving up only two earned runs in eight innings against the Seattle Mariners last Friday, and he was pitching well today before leaving. He almost certainly won't match his outstanding 2014 season in which he went 16-10 with a 3.52 ERA, but Hughes can be useful in the right matchups at FantasyScore.
Wed, 29 Apr 2015 12:39:11 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Hughes ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) will be able to make his next start. Hughes has struggled at times this season, so owners on FantasyScore may want avoid him for the time being.
Wed, 29 Apr 2015 08:08:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Eduardo Escobar ($1,600, 3.2% of your cap) takes the open spot in the outfield today, but he has no FantasyScore appeal.
Tue, 28 Apr 2015 14:44:55 -0700
Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28. SS Eduardo Escobar is starting at the keystone and hitting sixth in the batting order against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez.
Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a light-hitting infield option that should be considered a weak play at FantasyScore Tuesday night.
Tue, 28 Apr 2015 14:40:24 -0700
Minnesota Twins DH Kennys Vargas is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28. SS Eduardo Nunez is serving as the designated hitter and hitting fifth in the batting order against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez.
Fantasy Tip: Nunez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has eight hits in his first 19 at-bats (.421) to start 2015, but he's not as good of a hitter as that small sample size may suggest. Hitting in the middle of the lineup is attractive, but he remains a low-end shortstop option for FantasyScore gamers.
Tue, 28 Apr 2015 14:32:44 -0700
Fantasy Tip: May ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) hasn't gone past six innings in any of his three starts this year, and he carries an ERA of 4.91 into his outing against the Chicago White Sox Thursday. We don't recommend starting him at FantasyScore Thursday coming off a short outing and injury.
