Minnesota Twins SP Nick Blackburn (quadriceps) is scheduled to make a rehab start for Triple-A Rochester Tuesday, May 29, and is expected to throw 75 pitches in that outing. Blackburn threw 90 pitches in a bullpen session Saturday, May 26, and did not have any problems.

Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said P Francisco Liriano is returning to the starting rotation and will start against the Oakland Athletics Wednesday, May 30. He will replace P Anthony Swarzak in the rotation, after he allowed six runs over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Detroit Tigers Friday, May 25. Liriano was 0-5 with a 9.45 ERA in six starts to open the season before he was demoted to the bullpen, where he allowed four earned runs over 7 1/3 innings during five relief appearances.

The team may push back when Doumit catches again because of the injury. Doumit caught a bullpen session Tuesday, but the team wants him to catch a few more sessions and throw to the bases before putting him into a game at catcher.
