Milwaukee Brewers news, rumors and injuries

Fantasy Tip: Santana ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is hitting just .211 in six games since joining the Brewers, but he also has three homers and four RBI for the team. His power makes him worth considering as a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson is making his first start since coming off the DL, so right away that makes Gennett ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) a little more intriguing as a sleeper pick in daily games. He's also hitting much better against righties this year and has all six of his homers against them. Hitting leadoff also raises Gennett's fantasy value for tonight.

Fantasy Tip: Garza's ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) ERA is up to 5.26 this year, and he now owns a 7.17 ERA in eight starts against the Nationals. He has no business being owned at FantasyScore.
Sun, 23 Aug 2015 17:37:01 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has four homers and nine RBI over his last four games, and he has nine homers and 22 RBI in August. He is taking advantage of regular playing time since Carlos Gomez was traded and is providing great production for the price at FantasyScore.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett will bat sixth against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Saturday, Aug. 22. INF Elian Herrera, who played second base Friday, Aug. 21, will start at third base Saturday.
Fantasy Tip: Gennett ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is hitting .294 this month and is 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles against Ross in his career, so FantasyScore owners who need an inexpensive option at the keystone position should consider him for their lineups. Herrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) also merits consideration, since he is batting .293 with one home run and eight RBIs in 58 at-bats this month.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is just 1-for-16 over the past week and is only hitting .228 during the month of August. Avoid using him in FantasyScore this evening.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 5 1/3 innings to record his 10th win of the season during Milwaukee's 10-3 victory over the Washington Nationals Friday, Aug. 21.
Fantasy Tip: Nelson ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) has emerged as a sneaky fantasy asset in all formats over his past 12 starts. He has a 2.58 ERA with 62 punchouts through 76 2/3 innings during the stretch, and he has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 10 of the 12 outings. He currently presents nice value at FantasyScore, too.

Fantasy Tip: Dealt to Milwaukee as a piece in the Carlos Gomez deal, Santana ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has worn out minor league pitching to the tune of a .333/.426/.573 slash line over 95 games at the Class AAA level this season. He even flashed some pop with the Houston Astros before the trade. While Santana has just 65 plate appearances in the majors, he should receive a long look down the stretch. He is worth owning in all deep leagues, and could become a mixed league staple over the next few weeks.
Fri, 21 Aug 2015 13:23:52 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap), a switch-hitter, is much better from the left side against right-handers this year. He doesn't deserve your attention tonight.
Fri, 21 Aug 2015 13:14:55 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Santana was one of the key pieces acquired by Milwaukee in the trade that sent Carlos Gomez to the Houston Astros. He's a big-bodied outfielder that was hitting .333/.426/.573 with 18 home runs in multiple minor league stops this year. He could certainly be an everyday outfielder in Milwaukee for the rest of the year and is worth a waiver-wire addition in most leagues. He won't be available on FantasyScore tonight but will be cheap and attractive in daily games to start.

Fantasy Tip: Those numbers are great, but the Colorado thin air assists them, and Santana has been awful at the major league level. He's worth owning in NL-only leagues and is a watch list player in mixed leagues.
Wed, 19 Aug 2015 18:33:08 -0700
Fantasy Tip: This outing marked the second time in the last four starts where Peralta ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has given up six runs. He will make his next start against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, Aug. 26, but his inconsistency makes him a weak FantasyScore option.
Wed, 19 Aug 2015 18:13:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has seven home runs and 19 RBIs during the month of August and merits consideration for FantasyScore lineups whenever the team is facing a right-handed pitcher.
Wed, 19 Aug 2015 18:05:53 -0700
Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun hit his 252nd career home run against Miami Marlins P Chris Narveson Wednesday, Aug. 19. The blast allowed him to move past Hall of Fame OF Robin Yount for the most homers in franchise history.
Fantasy Tip: Braun ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is batting .276 with 22 home runs and 72 RBIs through 115 games this season. He is hitting .387 with three homers and nine RBIs over his last eight games, so FantasyScore owners should continue using him while he's hot.
Wed, 19 Aug 2015 17:30:27 -0700
Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell said the team will use a four-man rotation until a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds during the first week of September, when a fifth starter will be needed.
Fantasy Tip: Milwaukee has several off days sprinkled throughout the calendar over the next few weeks, so pitchers will not be throwing on reduced rest. One of the possible reasons for the four-man rotation may be the struggles of rookie SP Tyler Cravy (elbow), who has since landed on the disabled list following a disastrous start against the Miami Marlins Tuesday, Aug. 18.
