He finished the 2009 campaign with 125 at-bats, and combined with his at-bats from the 2008 season, he has 129 at-bats at the major league level. To maintain rookie status in the majors a player must have 130 at-bats or fewer and have accumulated no more than 45 days on the active roster of a major league team during the period of 25-player limit. The buyout of his 2011 option is $500,000 but increases to $1 million if he finishes 44 games next year. Parra will undergo a routine surgery Tuesday, Oct. 6, to clean up the AC joint in his left shoulder. Looper will undergo surgery next week to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. Looper said that he pitched all season with the injury.
