Milwaukee Brewers news, rumors and injuries
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 13:21:42 -0700
Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is out of the starting lineup Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Chicago Cubs. C Martin Maldonado will start behind the plate and hit eighth in the order against RHP Kyle Hendricks, while OF Shane Peterson will hit second and start in center field.
Fantasy Tip: Maldonado ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is hitting below .200 against both right and left pitching this season, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore. Peterson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) went 2-for-3 with two singles and a walk Friday, and he'll have some upside while offering cap relief.

Fantasy Tip: With Gomez no longer in town, Gennett ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is likely to take over the leadoff duties for the Brew Crew. Despite a .250 average and only four home runs and 18 RBI this year, Gennett's fantasy value, especially in daily formats, is bound to increase with a move to the top of the lineup. He could be an effective value play on FantasyScore tonight against Hammel.

Fantasy Tip: Lind ($5,000 10.0% of cap) is having a fantastic season for Milwaukee, especially against right-handed pitching (.295/.378/.534 slash line). In the off chance he does move, Lind could actually lose value, so it is worth looking out to see what unfolds. It sounds like he'll be sticking with the Brewers, though.

Fantasy Tip: With Parra moving out of Milwaukee, plenty of opportunities open up in the Brewers outfield, especially since Carlos Gomez is gone, too. Khris Davis ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is once again assured of an everyday role in left field, while Shane Peterson and Logan Schafer could split time in center field. Domingo Santana is another option for Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Brewers will re-call OF Logan Schafer and 2B Elian Herrera from Class AAA Colorado Springs Friday, July 31, to fill the roster spots of OF Carlos Gomez and SP Mike Fiers who were traded to the Houston Astros.
Fantasy Tip: Schafer hit for a .182 batting average with zero home runs in 40 plate appearances in the major leagues this season, while Herrera hit .212 with four home runs. Neither will deserve much FantasyScore consideration.

Fantasy Tip: Khris Davis ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should start every day in the outfield, and he'll be worth grabbing in deeper mixed leagues, and he can be used against right-handed pitching on FantasyScore. Wily Peralta ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) will move into Fiers' rotation spot, he allowed just two earned runs over six innings in his return from the disabled list, and he can be used depending on his matchup.

Updating an earlier report, Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (hip) was the centerpiece of a deal that fell apart with the New York Mets due to an alleged hip issue. Brewers general manager Doug Melvin and Gomez's agent, Scott Boras, denied Gomez had an issue with his hip. According to a source, the Mets wanted the Brewers to take OF Juan Lagares in the deal, but the Brewers declined because Lagares has an elbow issue. Lagares also has a four-year, $23 million extension that kicks in next year, and the Brewers didn't want to pick up the money. The Mets swapped in SS Wilmer Flores in the deal and wanted a draft pick, which the Brewers declined. The Brewers were also asked to include cash in the deal and declined. After the Brewers declined to include cash in the deal, the Mets called off the deal because of Gomez's medical records.
Fantasy Tip: It sounds as if Gomez's hip condition is overblown or even a smokescreen. At $5,400 (10.8% of cap), Gomez remains a high-end outfielder. However, it might be best to avoid him on FantasyScore until after the July 31 deadline passes.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is healthy enough to play, but the issue must be something that could be a hindrance in the future. Stay away from him on FantasyScore until the deadline passes Friday as he's still on the trading block.

Fantasy Tip: Wheeler is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery and is not expected to resume pitching at the major league level until after the 2016 All-Star break. Flores ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is batting .249 with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs in 92 games this season. He could slide over to second base or third base due to the presence of SS Jean Segura ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) at shortstop.
Wed, 29 Jul 2015 11:54:55 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Braun ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has three home runs and 11 RBI while hitting .243 (18-for-74) this month, and he's currently riding a four-game hitting streak. He has only two hits in 14 career at-bats against Peavy with six strikeouts, though, so perhaps it's best to wait another day to use Braun in your FantasyScore lineups.
Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:42:49 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Lind ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is batting cleanup, but he is facing Matt Cain who is starting to come alive. Give Lind a game to prove his health before plugging him back into your FantasyScore lineup.
Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:42:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: With Braun sidelined, Khris Davis ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) starts in left field and bats fifth. He is a solid play in FantasyScore in a favorable spot in the order. Avoid Braun until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.
Tue, 28 Jul 2015 10:13:21 -0700
Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta (oblique) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and will start Tuesday, July 28, against the San Francisco Giants. In a corresponding move, RP David Goforth has been optioned to Class AAA Colorado Springs.
Fantasy Tip: Peralta's ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) 4.00 ERA and 1.43 WHIP make him viable in only the deepest of leagues and he doesn't have meaningful splits to exploit that could make him a good matchup play. You can do worse than Peralta but you should be able to do better as well.
Mon, 27 Jul 2015 20:41:44 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Braun ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and play a full game without any setbacks. Khris Davis ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) replaced him and is a worthwhile replacement if Braun misses addition time.
Mon, 27 Jul 2015 17:42:57 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Segura ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is batting sixth in manager Craig Counsell's lineup and is a decent mid-level FantasyScore option at this price level.
