Fantasy Tip: League had projected fantasy value as a possible replacement for RP Kenley Jansen, but this injury means the Dodgers will look elsewhere for saves and League has lost that fantasy value. Unless you have a very deep bench and can stash League, don't draft him.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson appears to be the real deal, and he'll finally get everyday playing time in Los Angeles in center field in 2015. Strikeouts have been the one real knock on him, which could see his average suffer, but he remains one of the best prospects in the majors that can make an immediate impact on your fantasy roster this year.

Fantasy Tip: Kershaw ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) is the consensus top pitcher in baseball, and his quick return to sharp form in his first start since getting hit in the mouth with a line drive is excellent for his fantasy outlook. Continue to draft him in the first round, but a matchup with the San Diego Padres in the season opener isn't as juicy as it would have been last year. Still, he's capable of carrying FantasyScore teams and worthy of consideration on opening day.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Hector Olivera (elbow) had an MRI which revealed a slight tear of the ulnar collateral ligament, a source said. The Dodgers would get a seventh season at $1 million if he requires Tommy John surgery.
Fantasy Tip: Olivera's fantasy outlook for 2015 is murky. He might have been called up at some point this season, but if he requires surgery that makes an MLB debut this year extremely unlikely.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in Cuban P Yadier Alvarez, according to a source. The San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals are also said to be interested in Alvarez. He has yet to be declared a free agent.
Fantasy Tip: Alvarez is 18 years old, and it will likely be a while until he finds his way to the majors. However, he has a ton of upside and he is so young that he is a long-term keeper league players' dream.

Fantasy Tip: Olivera is one to watch for a callup later in the season.

Fantasy Tip: This much we know: Ryu will open 2015 on the disabled list. Beyond that is a mystery, but it's not encouraging that he battled through shoulder woes in 2014, as well. Ryu has quickly gone from a late-round sleeper pitcher to one to avoid in the short term. If he bounces back healthy early in the year, you can always snag him off the waiver wire.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) has shut down his throwing program after experiencing pain in his left shoulder when he played catch Sunday, March 22, and he will start the season on the disabled list, according to manager Don Mattingly. Dr. Neal ElAttrache will examine Ryu Monday, March 23. SP Joe Wieland may enter the rotation to replace Ryu to start the year, but the Dodgers are also looking to trade for a starter. The other pitchers being considered to fill in are Ps Carlos Frias and Mike Bolsinger, and both are in minor league camp.
Fantasy Tip: Before the injury, Ryu was an intriguing sleeper pick in the late middle rounds. However, he's now extremely risky, especially since he dealt with left shoulder problems throughout the year in 2014. Stash him late in mixed league drafts. Wieland may be worth a dollar investment in NL-only leagues.

Fantasy Tip: The team has said it would likely look for help elsewhere, considering SP Erik Bedard is already out with a lat strain. But it looks like this job might be Wieland's to lose. It's hard to tell how long he will have a spot, so don't go too crazy in your fantasy drafts. It may be worth an end-of-draft flier in some leagues or an occasional pickup in daily leagues, depending on how he performs.

Fantasy Tip: Puig is hitting .226 with three home runs and eight RBIs this spring, and his high upside and multi-category contributions make him a worth grabbing in the first couple of rounds in all fantasy formats.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (tooth) will require more dental work after being hit in the face by a line drive Friday, March 20, but he is still slated to start Opening Day. Kershaw had one tooth extracted and another one repaired, according to manager Don Mattingly.
Fantasy Tip: This development will not affect Kershaw's status as the top pitcher in fantasy baseball. He is likely to be drafted in the middle of the first round in universal fantasy drafts.
Sun, 22 Mar 2015 09:57:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Ryu will be ready for the start of the regular season. Ryu likely will be selected in the middle rounds of most drafts and could be a solid pitcher for owners.
Fri, 20 Mar 2015 15:15:31 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Continue to view Kershaw ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) as the top pitcher in fantasy baseball, and expect him to be drafted in the middle of Round 1. Kershaw and the Dodgers host the San Diego Padres in their first game, and Kershaw is worth considering as your No. 1 starter for FantasyScore contests.
Fri, 20 Mar 2015 14:01:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Kershaw is the No. 1 pitcher in baseball, and he projects to go in the middle of Round 1 in the majority of drafts. Over the past five seasons, Kershaw has averaged 17 wins, a 2.26 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP and 232 strikeouts over 220 innings pitched. He has been even better the past two years, too, and at just 27, there is no reason to expect a drop off.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) had an anti-inflammatory injection in his left shoulder Wednesday, March 18, but he's optimistic that he can be ready for the regular season opener. However, manager Don Mattingly said the team will be cautious with Ryu, and he could start the year on the disabled list. The Dodgers don't need a fifth starter until April 13 or 14. Ryu had stiffness in his shoulder after pitching three innings in a game Wednesday, and he said the pain is similar, but less intense, than what he dealt with in 2014. He'll be shut down for three days to let the swelling subside, but he's not scheduled for any tests.
Fantasy Tip: It doesn't appear that Ryu's shoulder ailment is serious or related to his mid-back stiffness earlier this spring, but it's definitely worth watching. Ryu already entered this year's drafts as an undervalued commodity residing in a good situation, and now he'll likely be even more attractive at a very cheap price late in drafts. Keep an eye on his recovery as we approach opening day.
