Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) has surgery to fix the labrum in his left shoulder Thursday, May 21, and he will not pitch in 2015. However, the chances of him returning in spring training next year are good, according to manager Don Mattingly.
Fantasy Tip: You can safely drop Ryu in all single-year fantasy formats. Mike Bolsinger ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has excelled in the fifth starting spot for the Blue and has earned a longer stay. However, Brandon Beachy (elbow), who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, could push for a rotation post this summer.

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 21. C A.J. Ellis is behind the dish and hitting eighth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.
Fantasy Tip: Ellis ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has struggled to produce at the plate in limited playing time in 2015, hitting .125 (4-for-32) with one RBI. Avoid him at FantasyScore this afternoon.
Thu, 21 May 2015 09:51:34 -0700
Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 21. OF Scott Van Slyke is starting in right field and hitting sixth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.
Fantasy Tip: Van Slyke ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has fared better against righties (.314-2-13) than lefties (.263-0-1) this year, so he's not the most intriguing option today, especially while facing Bumgarner.

Los Angeles Dodgers SS Jimmy Rollins is not in the starting lineup against a lefty Thursday, May 21. OF Enrique Hernandez is starting at shortstop and hitting second in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.
Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a low-end play at FantasyScore going up against MadBum, who has pitched very well against L.A. in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is in the midst of a fine season (.328-6-16) and has been seeing regular playing time thanks to injuries to Yasiel Puig (hamstring) and Carl Crawford (oblique). The numbers say that you should consider him a solid candidate for your FantasyScore lineups tonight, as he's hitting .333 (16-for-48) with three doubles, four home runs and nine RBI against right-handed hurlers in 2015.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brandon Beachy (elbow), who is coming back from his second Tommy John surgery, threw a bullpen session Monday, May 18, and he's expected to go out on a minor league rehab assignment soon. The Dodgers are expecting him to return in June if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
Fantasy Tip: If he's healthy, Beachy ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should be expected to jump into the starting rotation with Brandon McCarthy (elbow) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) both done for the year. He could come out of the gates slow, especially in regards to his velocity and command, but Beachy could be a valuable piece as rotation depth to rosters for owners in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. Think about stashing him now if he's available.

Fantasy Tip: Ryu ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is expected to be out for the rest of the 2015 season, but check back for more updates on his timeline for a return. Mike Bolsinger ($3,000, 6.0% of cap), who has pitched well in a handful of starts this year, will benefit directly and could stick in the starting rotation long term. Bolsinger is a matchup play at FantasyScore.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias pitched 6.0 innings of one-run ball against the San Francisco Giants Tuesday, May 19, mixing in his changeup and curveball with a high-90s fastball. He appears to be forcing the Dodgers to keep him in the rotation, according to ESPNLosAngeles.com's Mark Saxon, by using a four-pitch arsenal. Frias said he is gaining confidence, and Saxon believes the Dodgers would be foolish to not find out what Frias is capable of becoming.
Fantasy Tip: Frias ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is not scheduled to start again until Sunday, May 24, against the San Diego Padres. He is a viable low-priced option in traditional leagues and on FantasyScore, given the pool of midrange choices expected to be available.
Tue, 19 May 2015 19:25:31 -0700
Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Hector Olivera said Tuesday, May 19, he thinks he'll be major league ready in three-to-four weeks. Olivera said he is most comfortable at second base but he can also play first and third.
Fantasy Tip: Olivera's best chance for regular playing time would be at third base with only Juan Uribe blocking his path. Dynasty league owners as well as deep NL-only owners should grab Olivera while they can. Mixed league owners will have a little more time.
Tue, 19 May 2015 17:07:46 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Olivera likely is a few months away from joining the team but has a chance to play for the team if he performs well in the minor leagues. Owners on NL-only leagues and possibly deeper mixed leagues may want to monitor his play since he could be a roster option down the road.
Tue, 19 May 2015 17:00:45 -0700
Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) elected to have surgery on his pitching shoulder, Tuesday, May 19, according to a source. Ryu may not be able to throw for the Dodgers again this season.
Fantasy Tip: Ryu ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) can be dropped in all non-keeper leagues. Owners with room and the luxury of stashing prospects can go ahead and add either or both Zach Lee and Julio Urias.
Tue, 19 May 2015 16:56:22 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Grandal ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has enjoyed May, hitting .450 (18-for-40) with three home runs and 15 RBI in the month. He's sporting a nice .300 average (24-for-80) with all four of his home runs against right-handed pitchers, too. Tonight looks like a great time to put Grandal in your daily lineups.
Tue, 19 May 2015 16:43:23 -0700
Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Alex Guerrero is starting at third base and hitting eighth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson Tuesday, May 19. 3B Juan Uribe is starting on the bench.
Fantasy Tip: Guerrero ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is hitless in his last four games and is batting .243 (9-for-37) with one home run and three RBI after clubbing five home runs in limited at-bats in April. It's safe to say he's come back down to earth a bit. Guerrero isn't a terrible option for your FantasyScore lineup, but the way he's swinging lately it's hard to give him a ringing endorsement.
Tue, 19 May 2015 13:39:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ryu's ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) decision isn't official, but it looks likely that he'll miss the rest of the year if he has the procedure. Wait until it's official before dropping him in season-long formats. Carlos Frias ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) and Mike Bolsinger ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) could now both stick in the rotation long term, and both are sleeper plays at FantasyScore based on matchups.
Tue, 19 May 2015 09:45:42 -0700
Fantasy Tip: At this point, Ryu ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has no business being on a roster in a shallow mixed league. With Ryu out for the year, that's good news Carlos Frias ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) and Mike Bolsinger ($3,000, 6.0% of cap), who have both pitched well since entering the rotation. For now, both Frias and Bolsinger and low-end sleeper plays in the right matchups at FantasyScore.
