Dodgers | Working on adding Alex Wood

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:23:21 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers are working on a three-way deal with the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins which would net the Dodgers SP Alex Wood, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Wood ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) is a very solid pitcher, but he could be even more valuable to FantasyScore players pitching for a contender. The difference between Dodger Stadium and Turner Field, in terms of MLB Park Factors, is rather negligible.

Dodgers | DL decision looms over Justin Turner

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 16:31:53 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (illness, leg) could require a stint on the disabled list, but the team needs to wait for the lab test results on his leg infection to determine if it is necessary, according to manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: Turner ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is having a banner campaign, so fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on the situation and check back for updates. Alex Guerrero ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) stands to receive a boost in playing time for the duration of Turner's absence. Expect an announcement sooner than later.

Dodgers | Medicals holding up Mat Latos deal

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 16:04:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, the trade between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins involving Marlins SP Mat Latos and 1B Michael Morse is on hold because of medicals.

Fantasy Tip: This serves as a reminder to always stray from making hasty fantasy decisions until trades are officially confirmed. Stay tuned for an official announcement, and it might only be a minor hiccup before the deal is finalized. Starting for the Dodgers would be a huge fantasy boost for Latos ($6,400, 12.8% of cap).

Dodgers | Jesse Chavez of interest to the Dodgers

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:49:10 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez is of trade interest to the Los Angeles Dodgers, as general manager Farhan Zaidi has always been interested in acquiring the Oakland righty, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Interestingly, Chavez ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) is starting against the Dodgers Wednesday, so Los Angeles will receive a first-hand look at the hurler. Chavez owns a crafty arm, but he is more of a matchup play than go-to starter, especially at FantasyScore. He would gain significant value starting for the Dodgers, though.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson bumped down the order

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:44:08 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is batting seventh against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is batting .185 with a .622 OPS, 15 runs, four home runs and 10 RBI over his past 36 games. The rookie has hit the wall, and he is currently likely overpriced at FantasyScore. It would be wise to look elsewhere. Still, those looking to go contrarian could chase upside with Pederson.

Dodgers | Jimmy Rollins leading off vs. Athletics

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:38:26 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SS Jimmy Rollins is leading off against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Rollins ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) gains value setting the table for the Dodgers, however, he is having one of the worst seasons of his career, if not the worst. He has a .221/.293/.456 slash line in July, which doesn't turn heads, but Rollins does sport respectable counting stats with 11 runs, four home runs and 10 RBI this month. FantasyScore players could roll the dice with the veteran shortstop.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw starting Friday

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:33:05 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (hip) will start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Kershaw ($9,700, 19.4% of cap) has averaged 25.33 FantasyScore points without allowing an earned run over his past three outings. There may be a slight injury concern, and the Angels aren't a breeze-through lineup, but Kershaw has been as good as any hurler in the league of late. Start him with confidence in all fantasy formats Friday, including daily contests.

Dodgers | No Justin Turner against Oakland

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:21:21 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (illness, leg) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. OF Alex Guerrero is starting at third base and batting eighth against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Turner ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) had to visit the emergency room Tuesday, July 28, because he had a bad reaction to an antibiotic he was taking for his leg. So this a situation to monitor going forward. Guerrero ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) started strong this season, but he is currently reeling through a 19-for-105 slump dating back to Thursday, May 14. There is upside, but FantasyScore players should likely wait for Guerrero to show some life at the plate before utilizing him in contests.

Dodgers | David Price the apple of the Dodgers' eye

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 13:51:39 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Detroit Tigers SP David Price is the trade target of preference for the Los Angeles Dodgers over Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels. The Dodgers believe they can re-sign Price.

Fantasy Tip: Seasonal fantasy owners will want to see how everything shakes out before jumping to any conclusions. Price ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) will remain a high-end fantasy starter, and he would receive a boost moving to the National League and starting for a better team. Hamels ($8,900, 17.8% of cap), meanwhile, stands to also receive a nice boost leaving Philadelphia, but it might not be enough of an upgrade to elevate him into fantasy ace. He'll likely remain a No. 2 arms for your virtual team.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw sits, Bolsinger to start

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 09:40:52 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (hip) was scratched Wednesday, July 29, with SP Mike Bolsinger set to take the start against the Oakland Athletics. Kershaw will pitch either Saturday, Aug. 1, or Sunday, Aug. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Bolsinger ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP this month and makes a great SP2 on FantasyScore tonight.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw may be scratched

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 09:16:09 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (hip) could be scratched from his start Wednesday, July 29, against the Oakland Athletics due to soreness in the hip and gluteus region. SP Mike Bolsinger would be pushed up to start in Kershaw's place, and Kershaw could start Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: It's a good matchup whichever gets the ball tonight. Kershaw ($9,700, 19.4% of cap) is probably at too high of a price to consider, though, because it's tough to build a lineup around him on FantasyScore. Bolsinger ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) would make a nice SP2, though.

Dodgers | Mat Latos, Mike Morse headed to Dodgers

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 09:11:29 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Mat Latos, 1B Michael Morse and compensation pick No. 34 overall were acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers for three minor leaguers. The Dodgers will assume the remainder of Latos' $9.4 million salary and the remainder of Morse's $7 million this season and $8 million next season.

Fantasy Tip: Latos ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has been on fire lately, and his value remains high with this move. His price on FantasyScore is a bargain right now. Morse ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) will be a matchup play.

Dodgers | Justin Turner goes to hospital

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:49:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (illness, leg) had to go to the emergency room Tuesday, July 28, because he had a bad reaction to an antibiotic he was taking for his leg, according to manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: Turner ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) could be sidelined for a few days because of the illness, so owners should monitor the situation.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero available

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 10:44:47 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Alex Guerrero is being discussed in trades, and the Dodgers are looking for pitching in return. Guerrero can become a free agent at the end of this year if he's traded.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has really fizzled at the plate in a part-time role lately, and he has just one hit in 16 at-bats in July. However, he could be an attractive fantasy piece off the waiver wire in your league if he's traded and earns an everyday role somewhere other than Los Angeles.

Dodgers | LA interested in Yovani Gallardo, Mike Leake?

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 10:16:46 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo or Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake could be fallback options for the Los Angeles Dodgers if they lose out on Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels or Detroit Tigers SP David Price.

Fantasy Tip: There's no question that both Gallardo ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) and Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) would benefit greatly from a move away from extreme hitter's parks to the pitching-friendly environment of Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles.
