Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain finished 2-for-4, including a solo home run to begin a three-run rally in the eighth inning, with two RBI and two runs scored in a 5-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, May 29.
Fantasy Tip: After batting a meager .220 with two homers and eight RBI in April, Cain is hitting a cool .350 with five home runs and 20 RBI in May. He's been even better over the last eight contests, collecting six multi-hit games while batting .424 over that stretch. With all the injuries Kansas City is facing at the moment, it will need Cain to keep producing. So far, he has been up to the task. Keep riding his hot bat as the Royals host the Tampa Bay Rays over the next three days.

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (quadriceps) will miss seven to 10 days because of a quadriceps injury, according to manager Ned Yost. C Drew Butera will start at catcher against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Sunday, May 29, and is batting ninth in the lineup. Perez underwent an MRI which did not show any ligament damage to his knee.
Fantasy Tip: Butera likely will receive most of the starts while Perez is sidelined. Butera is hitting .250 in limited playing time this season, but owners should be able to find better options in most fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Morales has only three hits over his last eight games and probably can be avoided in most fantasy leagues because of the tough matchup.

Fantasy Tip: Eibner has gone 3-for-8 with one RBI since joining the team. Eibner probably should be avoided in most daily fantasy leagues since Sale is one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Updating a previous story, Kansas City C Salvador Perez (quadriceps) was diagnosed with a left quadriceps contusion following a collision with teammate 3B Cheslor Cuthbert late in a win over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, May 28. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday, May 29, but initial reports suggest he did not suffer structural damage to his knee.
Fantasy Tip: A stint on the disabled list can't be ruled out yet, but it sure sounds like Perez escaped serious harm and might only miss a few days, if that. Drew Butera is the overwhelming favorite to draw a start on Sunday and is the only other Royal on the current roster that has caught a pitch this season.

Kansas City C Salvador Perez (knee) needed assistance to leave the field on Saturday, May 28, against the Chicago White Sox after injuring his left knee in a collision with 3B Cheslor Cuthbert while pursuing a foul popup. C Drew Butera replaced Perez following the ninth-inning mishap.
Fantasy Tip: Mike Moustakas was lost for the season and Alex Gordon for about approximately a month following their own collision last weekend against the White Sox. Given the aforementioned losses to the key bats in their lineup already, the Royals simply cannot afford another hitter in the middle of their order to miss significant time. Kansas City should have an update shortly on one of the top backstops in fantasy. Assuming Perez is out for any length of time, Butera is not a worthwhile alternative in any format.

Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Saturday, May 28. OF Whit Merrifield will start in left field and is batting second, while 2B Omar Infante will start at second base and is batting ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Merrifield has gone 9-for-24 with two RBI over the last seven days and should be a decent fantasy option in daily fantasy leagues. Infante has a hit in each of his last four games and has five RBI during that span. He should be a decent starting candidate in most fantasy leagues.

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales (finger) is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Saturday, May 28. OF Brett Eibner will serve as the designated hitter and is batting eighth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Eibner went 1-for-3 in his first game with the Royals, but he probably should be avoided in all fantasy leagues at this point.
Sat, 28 May 2016 05:14:02 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Davis has picked up the save in each of his last five appearances and currently has a 1.02 ERA. He should receive plenty of save opportunities and should be used in all fantasy leagues.
Sat, 28 May 2016 05:10:00 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hosmer has recorded at least one hit in four of his last five games and has six RBI during that span. Hosmer likely will be a key part of the team's offense moving forward and is an attractive starting candidate in all leagues.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, it is likely best to take a wait-and-see approach with Young, especially since the Royals bullpen is already loaded with quality arms to handle high-leverage situations. Plus, Young has a 6.68 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP through 32 1/3 innings this season.

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales (finger) and 2B Omar Infante are not in the starting lineup Friday, May 27. OF Brett Eibner is serving as the designated hitter and is batting eighth, while OF Whit Merrifield is starting at the keystone and hitting second against Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez.
Fantasy Tip: Not much is going right for Morales this year. He's sporting an ugly .187/.247/.313 slash line with five home runs and 18 RBI and is expected to miss a few more days with his injury. Keep him benched where you own him until he shows signs of life and returns from injury. Both Merrifield and Eibner are worth looks in AL-only leagues for depth. They should both see decent playing time with Alex Gordon and Kendrys Morales hurt right now.
Thu, 26 May 2016 17:56:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Morales is batting .187 with five home runs and 18 RBI through 45 games and has collected just two hits in his last 17 at-bats. He can be dropped in shallow mixed leagues and doesn't have much fantasy value outside of AL-only leagues at this point.
Thu, 26 May 2016 16:02:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to make lineup substitutions where you can, and especially in daily contests. There is currently no makeup date for the game.

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Royals 3B Mike Moustakas (knee) will miss the remainder of the season, manager Ned Yost announced Thursday, May 26. Yost noted Moustakas will be ready for spring training next year.
Fantasy Tip: Moustakas can be replaced in all seasonal leagues. Cheslor Cuthbert projects to see the bulk of starts at the third base going forward, but through 110 plate appearances for Kansas City over the past two seasons, he has returned an underwhelming .229/.264/.353 slash line. Cuthbert is a low-end option in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues.
