Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers is scheduled to start Wednesday, June 3, against the Baltimore Orioles. He has struck out at least five batters in each of his first three starts to become the first Astros rookie to accomplish that feat since J.R. Richard in 1971.
Fantasy Tip: At just $3,900 (or 7.8% of cap) he is a sharp play in FantasyScore for his strikeout potential.

Updating a previous report, Houston Astros C Jason Castro (knee) was out of the lineup Tuesday, June 2, against the Baltimore Orioles due to a bruised right knee. Manager A.J. Hinch said Castro was sore but OK and he wasn't sure if he would start Wednesday, June 3.
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid Castro ($2,900; or 5.8% of cap) until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh allowed four runs in the second inning Tuesday, June 2, against the Baltimore Orioles, but he settled down and lasted seven innings to pick up his sixth win of the season. He allowed four runs, six hits and two walks with six strikeouts in the seven-inning win.
Fantasy Tip: McHugh has lasted six or more innings in four straight outings, and he has at least three strikeouts in each of his 11 outings this season. At $6,700 (or 13.4% of cap) he is generally a solid play in FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is finally starting to see the hits fall after he couldn't buy a hit in April. The slugger has raised his average to .231 (42-for-182) with 11 home runs and 33 RBI. You should feel more comfortable running with Gattis on FantasyScore, especially against righties, who he has an OPS of .793 against with eight of his 11 dingers.

Fantasy Tip: Carter ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is starting to show signs of life after hitting just .160 (12-for-75) with two home runs and six RBI in the season's opening month. His average is now just under .200, and he has eight long balls on the year. There's a good chance he was dropped by his previous owner, so double check your waiver wire if you're in need of power. At FantasyScore, now may be the best time to use him at a discount.

Fantasy Tip: Castro was injured last night after being hit by a pitch. Stay tuned on his status moving forward. Conger ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .170 (8-for-47) with two home runs and four RBI and is a weak FantasyScore option.

Fantasy Tip: Avoid Castro ($2,900; or 5.8% of cap) in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. Hank Conger ($1,600; or 3.2% of cap) is likely to start if Castro cannot go.

Houston Astros SP Brett Oberholtzer (finger) allowed two runs, seven hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Monday, June 1, against the Baltimore Orioles. He was activated from the 15-day disabled list after recovering from a blister on his left index finger.
Fantasy Tip: Oberholtzer ($3,100; or 6.2% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he starts to show more consistency.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena has 11 homers, reaching the level for the third consecutive season. He comes with a low average but decent power making him a decent mid-level FantasyScore play at $4,200 (or 8.4% of cap).
Mon, 01 Jun 2015 21:45:32 -0700
Houston Astros SP Brad Peacock (intercostal) is making progress and might throw batting practice Saturday, June 6, for Double-A Corpus Christi. If that goes well he is expected to make a minor-league rehab start.
Fantasy Tip: Peacock is a while away from a return, so FantasyScore owners need not both with him until at least mid- to late-June.

Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh spent most of his life with a stomach pain that was never medically addressed. He decided to cut out gluten and immediately felt better. Since his diet change, shortly after coming over to the Astros, he has transformed from a subpar pitcher to a bona fide major league starter. He estimated he lost 25 to 30 pounds and noticed an improvement in stamina right away.
Fantasy Tip: McHugh posted a 2.73 ERA last season, and he has a 5-2 mark with a 4.24 ERA this season while striking out 52 over 63 2/3 innings. At $6,700 (or 13.4% of cap) in FantasyScore he is a solid option most nights.
Mon, 01 Jun 2015 13:39:42 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has cooled significantly over the past 25 games, where he sports a .179/.207/.218 slash line with just five runs and four RBI. His value is plummeting, and he isn't worth a roster spot outside cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. FantasyScore players should view him as a high-risk option going forward.
Mon, 01 Jun 2015 13:33:54 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is 10-for-50 with 11 strikeouts over his past 18 games. Given his limited upside, FantasyScore players should view Gonzalez as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief. His seasonal value is tied to nothing more than cavernous mixed and AL-only formats.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, Rasmus' ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) value is fairly established. He is a high-risk, high-reward FantasyScore option, and a streaky season-long player. He has legitimate pop (three 20-home run seasons), but he is a .245 hitter through 2875 at-bats over his seven-year career. However, he has .419/.455/.774 slash line against opposing pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez over 33 plate appearances, so he is a nice upside flier for daily contests Monday.

Fantasy Tip: In 10 starts this season, Harang ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) has gone 4-4 with a 1.93 ERA and a sparkling 1.03 WHIP. He has been particularly dominant at home, with a 0.61 ERA through his first four starts at Citizens Bank Park. The only downside to using him in FantasyScore is that he won't rack up very many strikeouts.
