Fantasy Tip: Krauss should see plenty of playing time with Miguel Cabrera on the DL, but FantasyScore owners will need to see some success before investing.

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos had four hits and four RBIs in a win Monday, July 6, against the Seattle Mariners. He is hitting .377 with five extra-base hits in 12 games since manager Brad Ausmus benched him. He has raised his average from .217 to .243 during the impressive span.
Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($2,700; or 5.4% of cap) has been red hot lately, and at this price level he has been a solid FantasyScore option over the past 12 games.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($5,600; or 11.2% of cap) has been on some kind of a tear lately. He is a must-start in FantasyScore until he starts to cool off.
Mon, 06 Jul 2015 14:35:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Romine ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) does have 22 hits in 70 at-bats, including two home runs, but he remains limited offensively and is a poor FantasyScore option, even against the returning Iwakuma.

Fantasy Tip: Krauss ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is worth an immediate grab in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, as he'll likely see a long look at first base with Miguel Cabrera (calf) sidelined. At FantasyScore, Krauss will have some upside as a flier and potentially more. In standard mixed leagues, he has a ways to go before warranting consideration. There is power potential, though, and he is joining a potent lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Verlander ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) now owns a 6.75 ERA in four starts this season, and he has managed just 12 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings. He is not pitching well enough to be used at FantasyScore right now.
Sun, 05 Jul 2015 06:50:08 -0700
Fantasy Tip: McCann ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is 8-for-18 over his last four starts, and he hit one double, one triple and two home runs over that span. McCann can still offer some cap relief for FantasyScore owners, and he's an excellent option at the catcher position.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 16:13:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has a ridiculous .339-9-21 line in his last 15 games. He's at a FantasyScore price you can't refuse right now.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 07:51:06 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Wilson ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has been solid at the plate in his limited playing time, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Detroit Tigers C Alex Avila will start at first base against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey Saturday, July 4, and is batting fifth in the lineup. C James McCann will start at catcher and is batting seventh.
Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Avila ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) will be a candidate to be the regular first baseman with Miguel Cabrera out but is receiving the first start at the position. He is just coming off the disabled list, so owners on FantasyScore may want to see him in a few games before using him. McCann ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has recorded seven hits in each of his last three games and could be a starting option on FantasyScore.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 07:36:27 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) likely will remain as the team's designated hitter and will be an important piece in the lineup because of Cabrera's injury. He has at least one hit in nine of his last 11 games and also has 10 RBI during that span. Owners on FantasyScore should consider Martinez as a starting option most nights.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to monitor Cabrera's ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) progress to see when he will be able to return to the lineup. Alex Avila ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) will receive the first chance to start at first base, but it is not known who will fill the role on a regular basis. Owners on FantasyScore probably should pass on Avila for the time being.

Fantasy Tip: This was expected, and Cabrera ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) leaves a big hole in the heart of the Tigers' lineup and fantasy rosters. Seasonal owners will want to check back for updates on his recovery timeline and be thankful, in terms of replacement value, first base is arguably the deepest position in most formats. Victor Martinez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is likely to receive the majority of starts at first base while Cabrera is sidelined. Andrew Romine ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Bryan Holaday ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) could also work into the mix occasionally.

Updating previous reports, Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (calf) will not play against the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday, July 4. Manager Brad Ausmus said he could land on the 15-day disabled list but the team is awaiting a doctor's opinion.
Fantasy Tip: The team will know more about Cabrera's ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) status once the results of the MRI exam are revealed. If he is placed on the disabled list, he would be ineligible to return to action until after the All-Star break. DH/1B Victor Martinez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) appears to be in line to see most of the action at first base while Cabrera is sidelined, although Andrew Romine ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Bryan Holaday ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) have also seen playing time there this season.

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (7-7) carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, July 3, but OF Ezequiel Carrera's one-out single ended the bid. He ended up allowing four runs on three hits over 7 1/3 innings, with three walks and five strikeouts.
Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) didn't even end up with a quality start, thanks to a poor performance by the Detroit bullpen, although he still managed to be credited for the victory. He will make his next start against the Seattle Mariners next week.
