Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander (triceps) will make another rehab start for Class AAA Toledo Saturday, June 6, according to manager Brad Ausmus. Ausmus said he'd be surprised if this wasn't Verlander's last rehab start before rejoining the team.
Fantasy Tip: Verlander ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) looks to be very close to making his season debut for Detroit. You should stay patient when using him on FantasyScore, though, and give him at least several starts to prove he's back to full healthy. If he's still available in your league, he's worth a shot to see if he can at least serve as a matchup play.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) continues to hit (.338/.426/.822) but he has just one home run and seven RBI while mainly residing at the bottom of the Tigers batting order. A move up to the top makes him a little more intriguing for FantasyScore users, but he's still more of a weaker shortstop play with a limited fantasy ceiling.

Fantasy Tip: Simon ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has done well for himself so far this season, tallying a 5-2 record with a 2.67 ERA through nine starts. He has a favorable matchup against the A's, and is a good start on FantasyScore tonight.

Fantasy Tip: Kinsler ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is hitting just .111 (5-for-45) with 10 strikeouts and one home run since May 19, and the lineup shuffle is likely an effort to get him out of his funk. It'll give him a better opportunity to drive in runs, but until he breaks out of his slump, you may want to avoid him in daily games.

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez (knee) will rejoin the team Tuesday, June 2, but he's not expected to come off the disabled list during the series against the Oakland Athletics. He is making progress with his left knee in workouts, but he hasn't resumed swinging a bat after going on the DL a week and a half ago.
Fantasy Tip: It doesn't sound like V-Mart ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is anywhere near a return to the active roster, and the team will likely bring him along slowly. At this point, it's basically a lost season for Martinez, and it remains to be seen if he will be able to regain any pop in the second half of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Take note and be ready to avoid Davis ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) in both traditional leagues and on FantasyScore.

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is expected to go on the paternity leave list Tuesday, June 2, to be with his wife for child birth. He's expected to miss one to three days. OF Daniel Fields is expected to come up from Class AAA Toledo to take his place.
Fantasy Tip: The 24-year-old Fields is hitting .271 with three homers, 21 RBI and nine steals at Toledo. He's worth monitoring if he spends more than a cup of coffee with the club.

Detroit Tigers 3B Nick Castellanos is hitting .230 this season with four home runs and 21 RBI, and he has struck out 51 times and only has 13 walks. Manager Brad Ausmus said Castellanos is putting in the work, but sometimes it takes time to translate to the field.
Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has been scuffling, but he is attached to a high-powered lineup and carries the pedigree to breakout of the funk. In deep mixed leagues, a speculative grab isn't out of the question. Still, he is a low-end to ill-advised start in all but AL-only formats at this point, and in FantasyScore contests, Castellanos is nothing more than a low-priced flier.

Detroit Tigers C James McCann impressed Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia, himself a former catcher. "It looks like he's got all the tools and you never know where it leads for a career but, yeah, he's impressive," Scioscia said.
Fantasy Tip: McCann ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is turning a lot of heads with his decision-making and his .286 batting average and two home runs. You may want to see what the Tigers do when Alex Avila is healthy and returns to the active roster, as speculation has McCann making the leap to No. 1.

Fantasy Tip: When Verlander ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) does finally return, there is no need to rush him back into lineups at FantasyScore.
Sun, 31 May 2015 14:07:01 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Castellanos ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is taking a bench seat for tonight, so leave him out of your starting lineup. Romine ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is 4-for-8 in his last four games, so he is worth activating at this low price.
Fri, 29 May 2015 18:37:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) appears to be inching closer to a return, but until he is back in the lineup and swing the bat well, he can remain on the backburner at FantasyScore.

Detroit Tigers 2B Hernan Perez is starting at third base and hitting eighth in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Friday, May 29. 3B Nick Castellanos is serving as the designated hitter.
Fantasy Tip: Perez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has only two hits in 30 at-bats in 2015, and he should be avoided for FantasyScore lineups.
Thu, 28 May 2015 16:11:58 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gose ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) owns a .338 batting average on the season, but he is hitting just .200 against left-handed pitchers. While Wilson isn't the most dominant of opponents, Gose should be avoided on FantasyScore.
Thu, 28 May 2015 16:11:07 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Most of Iglesias' ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) FantasyScore potential comes from the runs scored and stolen base statistics. With Iglesias hitting eighth in the order and potentially still hampered by his knee, FantasyScore owners should give him some time to heat back up before reinvesting.
