Colorado Rockies news, rumors and injuries

Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson was good in his start Thursday, July 28, but picked up a no-decision opposite the New York Mets. The southpaw went six innings, allowing only one run on seven hits. He also struck out five and walked none.
Fantasy Tip: Although he pitches for Colorado, owners might want to consider picking up Anderson already if he's still out there, as the former first-round draft selection has been very solid since making his major league debut in the first half of June. He's allowed three runs or fewer in all but one of his nine starts, and owns a relatively terrific 3.33 ERA.

Fantasy Tip: Double-D has carved a nice niche with Colorado this season, but he is hitting .340 at home and .286 on the road. He's on the road, and he's facing Jacob deGrom. He doesn't present much upside in DFS today.

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez said he would be open to moving to first base, but he believes he can help the team playing outfield. Manager Walt Weiss said there has been some discussion about Gonzalez playing first base, but those talks were very preliminary.
Fantasy Tip: The best thing for Car-Go's fantasy value would be to remain with the Rockies, and this bit makes that scenario sound possible. He has a .359-15-45 line at home and a .277-5-17 line on the road in similar at-bats. If he stays in Denver, he remains a low-end OF1, but he'd lose some luster if he's dealt.

Fantasy Tip: Dahl is 3-for-12 through his first three MLB games and should be owned in NL-only, cavernous mixed fantasy leagues and long-term keeper leagues because of his tremendous upside.

Fantasy Tip: Gray has posted a 1.89 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings over five starts this month and is a viable option in all fantasy formats. He will make his next scheduled start versus the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Parra, who was hitting .263-5-27 prior to his six-week stint on the disabled list, should be good to go by early August. You may want to wait and see how Parra responds prior to activating him.

Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis improved to 9-6 overall and won his third straight start, allowing two runs, four hits and three walks in six innings as the Rockies beat the Baltimore Orioles, 6-3. Colorado is 8-1 in Bettis' last nine outings.
Fantasy Tip: With numbers like these, you really can't deny Bettis has fantasy value. The Rockies keep winning for him and his numbers are fairly decent. You can start Bettis in DFS formats and even put him in deeper NL and mixed regular leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Is this an audition for Gonzalez to possibly move elsewhere at the trading deadline? Gonzalez is at .317-20-62 and is definitely worth starting in all formats. The same goes with Story, who should be National League Rookie of the Year running away.

Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa allowed just two runs - one earned - and four hits over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision Monday, July 25, against the Baltimore Orioles. He was seeking his 100th career victory.
Fantasy Tip: JDLR rebounded rather nicely after an ugly performance last time out against Tampa Bay when he yielded a career-high nine runs. He remains a decent NL-only fantasy option and DFS play.
Mon, 25 Jul 2016 22:47:06 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Dahl is worth picking up in all NL-only fantasy leagues and long-term keeper formats. If he can hit anywhere close to how he was with Class AAA Albuquerque he is going to make a lot of fantasy owners happy.

Fantasy Tip: Believe it or not, Descalso has been hot this year with a .326/.427/.892 slash line, two home runs and 19 RBI in 44 games. However, his offensive upside is limited, and he has very little power. Combine that with a low lineup placement and he's a long shot to return any real DFS value, even in a good matchup in a hitter's park tonight.

Fantasy Tip: Dahl is a notable outfield prospect who should immediately be added in dynasty and keeper leagues if he hasn't been already. He was crushing at Class AAA Albuquerque with a .484 average (30-for-62) with five homers and 16 RBI, and he also had 16 steals with Class AA Hartford. He can do it all, and with regular playing time, he can even help those in many mixed leagues down the stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Just when it looks like Story will disappoint fantasy owners and crash to earth, he has a series like this. Not only that, he's three homers away from becoming the third middle infielder to have a 30-homer season before age 23. The others? Alex Rodriguez and Nomar Garciaparra. That's not bad company. Keep playing him in all formats.
Mon, 25 Jul 2016 04:17:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It was a mixed bag for Chatwood, whose stat lines are about ready to make fantasy owners' blood pressures skyrocket. Chatwood allowed eight walks and recorded six strikeouts, yet he allowed no runs and his record is now 9-6 overall. Chatwood is a safe start in fantasy leagues, but be aware that his line might induce cringes from time to time.

Fantasy Tip: Dahl has been tearing up the minor leagues, showing a combination of power and speed. With Colorado shopping Carlos Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon, Dahl could have a regular role sooner rather than later. Grab him immediately in NL-only leagues and deeper mixed formats.
