Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored Wednesday, July 29, against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Dr. Smooth ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has picked up two or more hits in six of the past 17 games, hitting safely in 14 games during the stretch. More importantly for FantasyScore players he has five doubles, four home runs and 13 RBIs over the past 15 games.

Indians | Yan Gomes drives in three runs

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:15:11 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer Wednesday, July 29, against the Kansas City Royals, finishing with a total of three RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has started to pick it up offensively, going 8-for-27 (.296) over the past eight games, raising his average from .218 to .230 just since July 18. He has eight RBIs over the past nine games, making him a somewhat attractive and cheap play in FantasyScore.

Indians | Giovanny Urshela working on streak

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:14:33 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Giovanny Urshela had a pair of hits, including a solo home run, Wednesday, July 29, against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Urshela ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has hit safely in eight straight games, and he has four extra-base hits during the span. At this price level he is worth a look in FantasyScore, especially if you want to load up on pitching or other batter spots.

Indians | Four-hit game for Michael Bourn

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:14:03 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Bourn had a double and three singles in five trips to the plate Wednesday, July 29, against the Kansas City Royals, scoring a pair of runs.

Fantasy Tip: It hasn't been the most productive season for Bourn ($2,800, 5.6% of cap), but he has shown some signs of life lately. Since July 18 he is 11-for-26 (.423), raising his average from .222 to .242. FantasyScore players might find him to be a decent bargain, just don't expect much in the way of power.

Indians | Career high for Francisco Lindor

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:13:05 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Francisco Lindor went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run Wednesday, July 29, against the Kansas City Royals, finishing with a career-high four RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: The switch-hitting rookie Lindor ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) entered the month with just one homer, but he has two in the past three days for a total of seven RBIs. However, all but one of his season's homers have come at home, and the Indians hit the road for a six-game trip, so FantasyScore players might want to hold off on using him until the team returns to C-Town.

Indians | Jason Kipnis stays hot at home

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:11:07 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI Wednesday, July 29, against the Kansas City Royals. It was his third three-hit game of the three-game series.

Fantasy Tip: Kipnis ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is hitting a robust .376 at home this season, posting 20 doubles, four triples, four home runs and 23 RBI with an OPS well over 1.000. Unfortunately, the Indians hit the road for six games, but he is still hitting a respectable .291 with a .749 OPS on the road. FantasyScore owners have been loving him lately.

Indians | Corey Kluber goes the distance

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:09:17 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber allowed just one earned run with five hits and one walk while striking out six in a complete game win against the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, July 29. It was his second complete game of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) was 0-3 against the Royals this season, so his performance was a bit of a surprise for FantasyScore players. He has lasted at least 6 2/3 innings in eight straight outings, and he has at least five strikeouts in all of those performances. Win or lose, he continues to produce defense stat lines.

Indians | Nick Swisher continues rehab

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:08:44 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Nick Swisher (knee) will continue his minor-league rehab assignment during the big club's six-game road trip. He has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 14.

Fantasy Tip: Swisher is too brittle to rely upon in FantasyScore these days. If and when he does return, if he can play at least five games in a row without any setbacks, then you can trust him again.

Indians | CLE interested in Carlos Gomez

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 17:28:31 -0700

The Cleveland Indians appear to have strong interest in trading for Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez.

Fantasy Tip: Unlike several of the other teams that have expressed interest in Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap), the Indians are not in playoff contention, so a potential acquisition would be made with next season in mind. Gomez is in the third year of a four-year deal worth $28.3 million. Entering play Wednesday, July 29, he was hitting .266 with eight home runs and 43 RBIs through 73 games.

Indians | CLE interested in Marcell Ozuna

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 22:54:57 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is a trade target for the Cleveland Indians. They're one of many teams interested in the outfielder, who is hitting .344 with four home runs and eight RBIs in 17 games since being banished to the minors.

Fantasy Tip: A move to Cleveland, or any other organization, would be welcome news for Ozuna, as it appears the Marlins are keeping him in NOLA due to monetary reasons.

Indians | Mike Aviles starting at 2B

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:10:14 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles is starting at second base and hitting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Chris D. Young Tuesday, July 28. 2B Jason Kipnis is serving as the designated hitter after the team traded OF David Murphy prior to the game.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) doesn't have much appeal in daily games while hitting near the bottom of the batting order. However, he could see more playing time for the Indians after the departure of Murphy. Take note in deep mixed leagues if you need depth or a dual-position threat.

Indians | David Murphy dealt for prospect

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:06:56 -0700

The Cleveland Indians dealt OF David Murphy to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Tuesday, July 28, and they received SS Eric Stamets in return.

Fantasy Tip: Stamets hasn't played above Class AA in his professional career, and he's unlikely to see the major leagues this season. Ryan Raburn ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) should receive the biggest boost in playing time, and he can offer some cap relief on FantasyScore, against left-handed pitching.

Indians | Yan Gomes not playing

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 15:56:24 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 28. C Roberto Perez is starting and hitting seventh against Kansas City Royals SP Chris D. Young.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is hitting only .230 (29-for-126) this year with five home runs and 16 RBI. Even against a pitcher like Young, Perez isn't a strong candidate for your daily lineups.

Marlins | Indians pitchers on the block?

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 09:45:39 -0700

Cleveland Indians SPs Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar could be being scouted by the Miami Marlins, according to the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer. The Marlins have scouts in Cleveland.

Fantasy Tip: The Marlins will lose two-thirds of their rotation, Mat Latos and Dan Haren, to free agency after the 2015 season. Pitching in the National League in spacious Marlins Park, which ranks 19th in runs scored, would benefit any pitcher and especially two with the strikeout ability of Carrasco and Salazar.
