Wood Brothers Racing driver Trevor Bayne (illness) said Tuesday, Nov. 12, that he has multiple sclerosis, but he doesn't think it will affect his career. He will compete in the Sprint Cup season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend. His younger sister also has the disease. Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Symptoms can include fatigue, paralysis and loss of vision, and there is no known cure. Bayne remains scheduled to drive full time for Roush Fenway Racing next year in the Nationwide Series and part time for WBR in the Cup Series.

Wood Brothers Racing driver Trevor Bayne disclosed Wednesday, Jan. 25, that he dealt with Lyme disease for two months last season, but the disease has given him no aftereffects this year. Doctor's never called Bayne's issues Lyme disease, rather referring to it as an inflammatory condition. "I'm feeling good," Bayne said. "Obviously, they treated me for Lyme the last time and everything went away. I feel fine. I've been working out pretty hard again. I know I don't look much buffer, but I've been working out." He is set to run the No. 21 Ford in a limited Sprint Cup schedule again this year.

Wood Brothers Racing driver Trevor Bayne (illness) said he still does not know what caused his illness that kept him out for the last five weeks. "I think I finally just had to accept that nobody knows," Bayne said. "I still don't have an official diagnosis, but they treated everything they thought it could be and since then everything has gone away. To me, they hit something."

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will fill in for Wood Brothers Racing driver Trevor Bayne (illness) and drive the No. 21 car in the Sprint Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. It will be Stenhouse's Cup debut.

"Although we would like for Trevor to be on the track this weekend, we want to make sure that he is fully back to prime condition before he goes out to compete with the best drivers in the world," Roush Fenway Racing president Steve Newmark said.

Wood Brothers Racing and driver Trevor Bayne are taking a scheduled break from the Sprint Cup Series this weekend at Richmond International Raceway. The team has not secured sponsorship for the entire season so they will continue to race a half season. Bayne will still run a full schedule in the Nationwide Series with Roush Fenway Racing.

Wood Brothers Racing driver Trevor Bayne will be entered in the May 21 All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway after the team secured sponsorship for the event, according to ESPN.com's David Newton. Camping World and Good Sam Club have partnered up to provide sponsorship for the race. Both companies will also sponsor the team at the Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend.

Wood Brothers Racing announced Friday, April 1, that the team is close to inking a sponsorship deal that would allow driver Trevor Bayne to race in the Sprint Cup All-Star race next month, according to SceneDaily.com's Bob Pockrass. The team is still scheduled for 18 Cup events this year.
