Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco (knee) is playing right field and batting first against Cincinnati Reds SP David Holmberg Thursday, July 30. Polanco was removed in the fourth inning of the game Wednesday, July 29, against the Minnesota Twins due to discomfort in his left knee.
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) might not be as speedy on the base paths due to the knee discomfort, so his FantasyScore value takes a hit Thursday, and he should be viewed as a high-risk, high-reward option for contests. Seasonal owners should be happy to see him right back in the lineup, though.

Fantasy Tip: You can do much better than Barnhart ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) as your FantasyScore catcher tonight, unless you're desperate for some salary cap relief in order to fit studs at other positions.

Fantasy Tip: De Jesus ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is in a good lineup position to capitalize in daily games, but he remains a low-end second base option against the savvy vet Burnett.

Fantasy Tip: DeSclafani ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) was surprisingly effective for FantasyScore players, but looking at his splits he is usually better on the road than at Great American Ball Park. He is 4-2 with a 2.41 ERA in 11 road outings, while he is 2-5 with a 5.69 ERA in nine home starts.

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce belted a solo home run Wednesday, July 29, against the St. Louis Cardinals, providing all of the offense in a 1-0 win. It was his 199th homer, moving him past Hall of Famer Barry Larkin into ninth place on the team's all-time homers list.
Fantasy Tip: The homer could be Bruce's last in a Cincinnati uniform, as his name has been bandied about in many trade rumors. Over the course of the next few days it might be prudent to avoid Bruce ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) and his high salary in FantasyScore in case he is moved.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman remains a top-tier closer regardless of his jersey, so continue to view him as such. For the year, he has three wins and 20 saves with a 1.69 ERA, a 1.62 FIP, a 1.22 WHIP and a 15.8 K/9.

Fantasy Tip: Barnhart ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is hitting just .105 against lefties this season, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore.
Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:59:44 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Bourgeois ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is riding a three-game hit streak, but he's still hitting just .222 on the season, and he won't be worth consideration.

Fantasy Tip: Stephenson should already be on the radar of keeper and dynasty owners, and he could come up when rosters expand in September or if Cincy deals away another starting pitcher, such as Mike Leake. Holmberg was 7-6 with a 4.40 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 17 starts (108 1/3 innings) for Class AAA Louisville this year. His 5.1 K/9 rate suggests he won't have much to offer for fantasy owners with the Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Finnegan has been used exclusively as a reliever at the major league level but the Reds may opt to turn him back into a full-time starter, a role he excelled at in college. Lamb was 9-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 17 starts for Class AAA Omaha, while Reed was 7-7 with a 2.53 ERA in 18 games (15 starts) for Class AA Wichita. Of the three, Finnegan appears to have the most upside and should be added in NL-only leagues and monitored in deep mixed fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Wheeler is expected to be sidelined until the middle of the 2016 season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery but could be used by the Mets as trade bait for offensive help, given their starting pitching depth. He is worth stashing in deep keeper and dynasty fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Votto ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has at least two hits in six of his last seven games with two home runs and three RBI during that span. Votto should be a nightly starting option in FantasyScore while he is on this hot streak.
Sat, 25 Jul 2015 06:55:32 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Votto ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) entered the game with a .447/.567/.723 slash line with nine runs, four doubles, three home runs and six RBI over his past 13 games, and is clearly in fine form for the rest of his series at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Continue to view Votto as a high-end fantasy option in all formats until he cools back down at the dish.

Fantasy Tip: Suarez ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has a solid .306/.344/.488 slash line through 130 plate appearances since taking over full-time duties at shortstop for the Reds. De Jesus ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) stands as an excellent source of cap relief with the game being played at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Fantasy Tip: Cueto ($8.900, 17.8% of cap) struggled in two straight starts and has been inconsistent over his last seven, dating back to June 12. Combined with reports that his velocity being down, and fantasy owners should be cautious about acquiring him. A move to the pitcher-friendly confines of Kauffman Stadium and the contending Royals would be a significant boost to his fantasy value if he is healthy. AL-only players would have a fine waiver wire target to acquire.
