Cincinnati Reds SP Daniel Wright made his major-league debut on Tuesday, May 24, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Wright allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out four.
Fantasy Tip: Wright, who was promoted to fill the spot of injured Tim Adleman (oblique), did a decent job considering he was pitching relief for Class AA Pensacola to open the season. Still, he's a stopgap for one of the worst teams in the league, which gives him no measurable fantasy value.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton continues to struggle to find ways on base to utilize his speed (eight stolen bases). He's hitting .254 in May and has only four steals. The move down the order limits his opportunities to run, making him an even weaker daily pick tonight. Votto is struggling himself at the dish, but hopefully for his owners a move to the two-hole can get him going.

Cincinnati Reds SP Brandon Finnegan tossed a career-high eight innings and allowed a run on five hits and four walks while fanning two in his complete-game loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday, May 23.
Fantasy Tip: Finnegan has potential, but he rarely goes deep into games because of inefficiency. He's 1-3 with a 3.97 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. His K/9 is down to 6.35 after nearly fanning a batter per inning last season. He's an NL-only target for now.

Cincinnati Reds 3B Eugenio Suarez (rest) is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 23. 3B Jordan Pacheco is in his place at third base and batting seventh opposite Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.
Fantasy Tip: Suarez rarely gets a day off, making it all the more confusing that he'd be rested on this night of all, considering his success against left-handed pitching this year (.333 with four home runs in 42 at-bats). The Reds could really use that against the best southpaw in the game. In any event, Pacheco gets a rare start, but shouldn't even be considered for daily formats.

Fantasy Tip: Duvall has already set career highs with his eight home runs and 17 RBI in his first year of full-time duty, and is still available in a ton of leagues. Duvall should maintain a decent average - he's batting .264 at the moment - and has no immediate threat to his job, making him a fine option to round out a fantasy lineup that needs to add a little more power.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce is hitting .323 against left-handed pitchers this season but only one of his eight home runs is against lefties. Bruce should still be a decent starter in some leagues, but owners should not expect much power.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has gone 2-for-12 at the plate since joining the team earlier this month and should be avoided in all leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Wright is 3-0 with a 0.79 ERA in 10 appearances (four starts) with Class AA Pensacola and Class AAA Louisville this year, with five walks and 32 strikeouts over 34 innings. Fantasy owners should avoid using him in his first start to see how he'll fare against MLB hitters.

Fantasy Tip: Although Bruce is actually hitting .323 against lefties this year, his power numbers have been better against righties. You should be able to find a better matchup in daily leagues.

Fantasy Tip: The Reds bullpen has been historically awful, but if you must hunt for saves, Tony Cingrani may be the best bet for now.
Sat, 21 May 2016 17:55:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Lorenzen could eventually have some value in NL-only leagues, but he can be left on waivers until he is back on the mound.
Sat, 21 May 2016 17:49:28 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Iglesias has shown intriguing strikeout potential, and he should be stashed in all formats as he recovers.
Sat, 21 May 2016 12:26:39 -0700
Fantasy Tip: If all goes well, DeSclafani could be back with the parent club in two to three weeks, so he should remain stashed in NL-only and deep mixed formats. However, DFS players should give him one or two starts after he is activated before depending on him again.

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce (knee) has been scratched from the starting lineup against the Seattle Mariners Saturday, May 21, because of soreness in his left knee. OF Tyler Holt will play right field and bat second.
Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for updates on the severity of Bruce's injury. Holt is batting .250 with two RBI through 48 at-bats this season but does not have a favorable matchup versus Felix Hernandez.
Sat, 21 May 2016 10:32:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: De Jesus is hitting just .167 with a home run and five RBI in 48 at-bats this year and isn't a recommended fantasy option this afternoon, especially with King Felix penciled in as the opposing pitcher.
