Cincinnati Reds SP Homer Bailey (forearm) had a second MRI exam on the strained flexor mass tendon in his right forearm, and the results didn't allow him to begin a throwing program. Bailey has been out since Aug. 8 and hasn't tried to throw since receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection. He could need a second injection, but it would mean another week of not throwing.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (quadriceps) took ground balls Wednesday, Aug. 27, for his first baseball activities. It's unlikely that Votto will have time to play in minor league rehab games before their seasons end Sept. 1, though. Votto isn't eligible to return from the 60-day disabled list until Sept. 4. "A lot of his hits are going through the middle and to right-center, which speaks to his approach. He is not trying to cheat and get the head of the bat out front. For me, offensively, he is ahead of schedule," manager Bryan Price said Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Cincinnati Reds SP Homer Bailey (elbow) might be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to his tender right elbow. He has been receiving treatment, including platelet-rich plasma injections, but he said Tuesday, Aug. 26, that there is nothing new to report.
