Reds | Arroyo may undergo offseason surgery for carpal-tunnel syndrome Cincinnati Reds SP Bronson Arroyo (hand) is considering undergoing offseason surgery for his carpal-tunnel syndrome, according to Tom Groeschen of The Cincinnati Post. He is able to pitch through it after receiving a cortisone shot before the season to reduce numbness and tingling in his fingers and hand. However, the issue flared up during the spring and he is unable to pursue his hobby of playing the guitar. "It's driving me crazy," he said. "Every single time I get to the hotel room or I'm at the house and it's 2 o'clock in the morning, I'm irritated because I can't play the guitar. I just can't do it, because it gets numb." Arroyo said he doesn't have any numbness at the moment, but added that it never feels 100 percent.
