Cincinnati Reds OF Ryan Ludwick is excited about playing in the Great American Ball Park, where he has hit .276 with six homers and 21 RBIs in 105 career at-bats. "Playing in San Diego screwed me up," Ludwick said. "I'm not using that as an excuse or a crutch, but it turned me into a dead pull hitter. I got away from what I was as a hitter."

The Cincinnati Reds finalized their deals with OF Ryan Ludwick and SP Jeff Francis Wednesday, Feb. 8. Ludwick will make $2.5 million this year and his deal includes a mutual option for 2013. RP Carlos Fisher was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Francis' deal is a minor league contract.

Cincinnati Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said Tuesday, Feb.7, that there hasn't been progress on a contract extension for 2B Brandon Phillips. "Not really," Jocketty said. "We really haven't had a chance to talk with them. Hopefully in the next few weeks, it's something we can address." To Jocketty's knowledge, Phillips and his representatives have not set a deadline for talks ending before the season starts.
