White Sox | Geovany Soto catching Sunday

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 10:12:19 -0700

Chicago White Sox Geovany Soto will bat ninth against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova Sunday, Aug. 2.

Fantasy Tip: C Tyler Flowers ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is receiving a scheduled day off. Soto ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is batting .333 with two home runs and five RBIs since the All-Star break and is 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI against Nova in his career, so he warrants consideration for FantasyScore lineups today.

White Sox | John Danks fans eight

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 19:52:42 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP John Danks allowed one run on three hits and struck out a season-high eight in a win over the New York Yankees Saturday, Aug.1.

Fantasy Tip: Danks ($5,100, 10.2 of cap) has been boom or bust recently, and in his last four starts, he has allowed one run or less four times and allowed six or more runs twice. Gamble on him at FantasyScore at your own risk.

White Sox | Jose Abreu heating up

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 06:23:32 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI during the White Sox's 13-6 loss to the New York Yankees Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Over his past 45 games, Abreu ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has a .322/.372/.531 slash line with 32 runs, nine home runs and 28 RBI. However, he has been even better of late, as eight runs, four home runs and 13 RBI have all come over his last eight games. With the entire team rounding into form offensively, look for Abreu to finish the season strong.

White Sox | Jeff Samardzija unlikely to be traded

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:27:48 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija continues to receive interest on the trade market, but the White Sox are unlikely to trade him now that they are in playoff contention.

Fantasy Tip: Samardzija ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) has had his ups and downs with the White Sox this year, posting a 3.94 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in his first season in Chicago. Don't expect his fantasy value to change much at all, even if he is traded away.

White Sox | Chris Sale hit by liner

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 20:02:04 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale (leg) was hit by a line drive in the leg against the Boston Red Sox Thursday, July 30. He allowed seven runs on 12 hits and struck out seven over five innings in a loss, but he said being hit was not a factor in his performance.

Fantasy Tip: Sale ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) wasn't having his best outing, but things really went south after he was hit by the liner. Don't read too much into his poor performance. Sale still fanned seven in five innings, and he remains of the top options at FantasyScore.

White Sox | ChiSox in buy mode

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:20:40 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes is being checked on by the Chicago White Sox, as they are aggressively searching for another hitter.

Fantasy Tip: While Comerica Park has been a fine hitter's venue for Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) and the Tigers, a move to the White Sox wouldn't drastically change his fantasy outlook. Cespedes (.289-17-58) is having a fine season and should continue to be a strong player for his owners regardless of whether he stays in Detroit.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche back in there

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 14:25:03 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is back in the starting lineup as the designated hitter and is batting fifth against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) took a couple days off to clear his head and work on his swing mechanics. He has just 10 hits in 71 at-bats (.141 average) in the month of July to drop his season average to .212. Porcello shouldn't instill fear in the hot White Sox hitters, but it's understandable to want to avoid LaRoche in daily games until he shows some signs of life.

White Sox | Melky Cabrera has giant stat line

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 21:40:10 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a triple with a run scored and RBI Tuesday, July 28, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has managed six straight games with two or more hits. At this price level he is a must-start FantasyScore option until he starts to cool off.

White Sox | Jeff Samardzija posts victory

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 21:38:37 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija allowed four earned runs, seven hits and a walk over eight innings in a win Tuesday, July 28, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: It was an impressive outing for Samardzija ($6,800, 13.6% of cap), who did not look distracted considering his name has been swirling in trade rumors for the past week or so.

White Sox | Carlos Sanchez working on hit streak

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 21:36:42 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Carlos Sanchez did not start Tuesday, July 28, against the Boston Red Sox, but he came on in the fifth inning for the injured 2B Emilio Sanchez.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) went 1-for-3 with a strikeout to push his hitting streak to 11 games. He is hitting .415 (17-for-41) during the impressive run, and is worth using in FantasyScore at this cut rate price until he cools down.

White Sox | Emilio Bonifacio leaves early

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 18:02:54 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Emilio Bonifacio (rib) left the game Tuesday, July 28, against the Boston Red Sox due to a left rib injury. He will be re-evaluated Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Bonifacio ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

White Sox | Melky Cabrera stays hot

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:29:52 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera became the first White Sox hitter with six consecutive multi-hit games since Jermaine Dye in 2009, Tuesday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) entered Tuesday hitting .349 in July, and .362 in the second-half of the season. He's an excellent FantasyScore option at the moment, and owners should be finding a way to get him in their lineups.

White Sox | No Tyler Flowers Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 15:01:29 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 28. C Geovany Soto is starting and is hitting sixth against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: Soto ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has solid numbers in a small sample size against lefties (.300-1-3 in 30 at-bats), making him at least worth consideration as a deep sleeper pick for your catching spot Tuesday evening.

White Sox | Carlos Sanchez not starting Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:12:54 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Carlos Sanchez is not starting Tuesday, July 28, against the Boston Red Sox. 2B Gordon Beckham is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is on a hot streak with a .444 mark in the past seven days, including two home runs. However, he hits .156 against the left so that's likely why Sanchez is seated.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:06:28 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 28, against the Boston Red Sox. 2B Emilio Bonifacio is in the lineup and serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: This is the second straight night LaRoche ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is not in the lineup. It comes as no surprise with a .120 batting average in the last week. Bonifacio ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has had no hits against Red Sox starter Wade Miley and therefore carries little fantasy value.
