Chicago Cubs news, rumors and injuries
Sat, 03 Oct 2015 12:20:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ross ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has collected just one hit in his last 16 at-bats and is not a great FantasyScore catching option.
Sat, 03 Oct 2015 12:18:19 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Coghlan ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) has just one hit in his last 21 at-bats and is not a recommended starting option in FantasyScore for now.
Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:23:32 -0700
Fantasy Tip: There are two games left in the season for Lucroy ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) to receive the starting nod, but he has only started once since Tuesday, Sept. 8, so the odds appear low he'll return to the starting lineup in either.
Fri, 02 Oct 2015 12:29:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: La Stella ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is nothing more than a low-end flier for FantasyScore contests Friday. He has a .263/.328/.404 slash line with three runs, one home run and 10 RBI. Coghlan ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) has only started two of the past seven games, so seasonal owners might want to add an everyday player for the weekend.
Thu, 01 Oct 2015 18:20:02 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hammel ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) has struggled later in the year, and he owns a 6.46 ERA in September after posting a 4.88 ERA in August. His overall numbers are still solid, but they are also misleading. He is a risky option at FantasyScore the rest of the way.
Thu, 01 Oct 2015 18:13:09 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Jackson ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has eight RBI over the past two games after managing just two RBI in his first 22 games with the Cubs. His production is likely to fall back off soon, but if you are going to gamble on him at FantasyScore, now is the time.
Thu, 01 Oct 2015 07:06:09 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Denorfia ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has played sparingly this season, but he hit .284 with 14 homers (twice as many as against righties) from 2012-2014 against left-handers like John Lamb. Denorfia is a very marginal basement play on FantasyScore.
Thu, 01 Oct 2015 07:05:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: A-Jax ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has a .375-1-7 line in 16 at-bats the last week. Those were his only RBIs in his .226 month of September. Lefty John Lamb is a good matchup for him as he is hitting .282 against lefties this year. He's a solid choice on FantasyScore in the lower levels.
Thu, 01 Oct 2015 07:04:58 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Schwarber ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) tailed off with a .206-4-7 September, and he's hitting just .148 against lefties. Lefty John Lamb opposes him today, and he's at a large FantasyScore price for his recent slump.
Thu, 01 Oct 2015 07:04:39 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Castro ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) had an insane .426-5-20 line in September and is well worth the midrange grab on FantasyScore against lefty John Lamb.
Wed, 30 Sep 2015 11:58:31 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Since returning from a DL stint, Soler ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has hit three home runs and driven in five runs in nine games this month. He makes for an under-the-radar value pick on FantasyScore tonight against DeSclafani.
Wed, 30 Sep 2015 11:42:10 -0700
Chicago Cubs OF Dexter Fowler and C Miguel Montero are not in the lineup Wednesday, Sept. 30. OF Austin Jackson is starting in center field and batting second, while C David Ross is catching and hitting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani.
Fantasy Tip: Ross ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is a defense-first player that isn't a smart buy on a day with a full slate of games. Jackson ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has hit only .195 (11-for-57) with no homers and two RBI in 24 games for the Cubbies, but he could be a sleeper pick that pays off against a hittable pitcher in a favorable lineup spot tonight.
Wed, 30 Sep 2015 10:25:45 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Strikeouts were a big knock on Baez ($3,600, 7.2% of cap), even coming up as a top prospect in the minor leagues. If he can make more contact his batting average should rise and he'll have more chances to make solid contact and make use of his plus power. When he's in the lineup he'll always be intriguing as a value pick with plenty of upside on FantasyScore.
Tue, 29 Sep 2015 11:53:28 -0700
Chicago Cubs SS Addison Russell and 2B Starlin Castro are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 29. 2B Javier Baez is starting at the 6 and hitting seventh, while 2B Tommy La Stella is playing second base and batting fifth against Cincinnati Reds SP Josh Smith.
Fantasy Tip: Baez ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is the much more attractive daily pick tonight as a value play than La Stella ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) as a deep sleeper. Smith has allowed seven earned runs in only nine innings in his last two starts against the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets.
Tue, 29 Sep 2015 09:50:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Phillips ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats, and with him now sitting out consecutive games, there might be more to the story and a potential injury. Check back for updates. De Jesus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has a .651 OPS through 54 plate appearances in September, and he is nothing more than a flier at FantasyScore Tuesday.
