Fantasy Tip: Soler ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) returns after spending over a month on the disabled list with an ankle injury. Owners may want to wait a game or two before considering Soler a starting option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Baxter ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting .265 in limited time this season, but owners on FantasyScore may want to look for better options to use.

Fantasy Tip: Soler ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should return to his starting job in right field after being activated from the 15-day disabled list. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see how he plays in a game or two before considering him a starting option.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has been experiencing a slight power outage, but he is on his way to a monster night. Hot and cold spells are to be expected from any rookie, but Bryant can take a FantasyScore lineup to another level if you catch him on the right night.

Fantasy Tip: Soler ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) hit four home runs in 208 plate appearances before landing on the DL. Soler was striking out at a 32.2% clip, negating the positives from his .383 BABIP. Soler should be given some time to catch back up to major league pitching before FantasyScore owners invest.

Chicago Cubs SS Starlin Castro is back in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart Saturday, July 4, batting fifth. INF Addison Russell, who started at shortstop Friday, July 3, will play second base and bat ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Castro ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) received a scheduled day off Friday. He is 6-for-21 over the past week and is hitting .273 against the Fish this year.

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler (ankle) has not been recalled from Class AAA Iowa, though it is expected he will not travel with the team for their upcoming 10-game road trip. Iowa manager Marty Pevey said Soler's timing is off and the reason he has gone just 2-for-13 thus far in his rehab assignment.
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to consider Soler ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) a high-risk, high-reward option until he shows more consistency at the plate. He has high-end power upside, but he has struggled to gain traction at the dish this season. Seasonal owners wouldn't be out of line to be equally patient with Soler and not rush him back into their lineup. Expect him to join the Cubs as early as Saturday, July 4.

Chicago Cubs RP Rafael Soriano is expected to join one of the club's minor league affiliates following a short stay at the team's spring training complex in Mesa, Ariz. He had been in the Dominican Republic due to immigration issues but team president Theo Epstein said those problems are now behind him.
Fantasy Tip: Soriano could be of interest to owners who need saves in NL-only and deep mixed leagues, although there is no guarantee he will close games when he gets promoted. He is unlikely to pitch at the major league level before the All-Star break.

Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings against the Miami Marlins Friday, July 3, but suffered his fourth loss of the season. He struck out five batters and walked one during the game.
Fantasy Tip: Hammel ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) has allowed more than three earned runs in only one of his last seven starts. Hammel is scheduled to face the St. Louis Cardinals in his next start and could be a risky option on FantasyScore because of the opponent.

Fantasy Tip: Richard was 4-2 with a 2.09 ERA through nine starts at Class AAA Indianapolis. He pitched in the majors from 2008 to 2013, and he posted a respectable 3.88 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 520 innings over 84 starts between 2010 and 2012. Richard stands as a high-risk start in all formats Saturday, although, it isn't a terrifying matchup.

Fantasy Tip: Iowa begins a road trip after the game Friday, so there is a chance it will be Soler's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) final rehab outing. While FantasyScore players might want to hold off starting him in contests initially to allow him to shake off some rust at the major league level, seasonal owners can return Soler to their lineups immediately upon his recall.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and his .229-1-10 line shouldn't be used on FantasyScore.
Thu, 02 Jul 2015 18:11:12 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) was filling in for Kris Bryant ($5,700, 11.4% of cap), and he responded with his best game of the season. However, Herrera is hitting just .229, and on the rare occasions he does spell Bryant, he typically won't provide much value at FantasyScore.
Thu, 02 Jul 2015 17:07:11 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Soler's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) raw power will be a welcomed addition to any fantasy squad. Soler will return to an everyday role in right field when he's back, moving Chris Denorfia ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) to more of a bench role for the Cubbies.
Thu, 02 Jul 2015 16:52:49 -0700
Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed five hits and just one run while walking none and striking out seven in eight sharp innings to beat the New York Mets Thursday, July 2. Arrieta lowered his ERA on the season to 2.80 in the 98-pitch outing.
Fantasy Tip: Arrieta's ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) fine 2015 season is no fluke. In his last six starts, he's allowed just 10 earned runs in 41 innings while fanning 43. He should always be in consideration for a spot on your FantasyScore lineups when he pitches, and against offensively challenged clubs like the Mets, he becomes a lock.
