Fantasy Tip: La Stella is a low-end option to consider against Juan Nicasio. He just doesn't provide a lot of punch in DFS.
Tue, 03 May 2016 23:23:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Bryant has hit safely in nine straight games, going 15-for-35 (.429) with 10 runs scored, two homers and 10 RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: Lester is a tremendous fantasy option in seasonal leagues and a must-start DFS play regardless of salary based upon his low ERA against the Bucs.
Tue, 03 May 2016 23:22:31 -0700
Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed just two hits and two walks with five strikeouts over seven scoreless innings in a win Tuesday, May 3, against the Pittsburgh Pirates, lowering his ERA to 0.82. He is the first Cubs pitcher to win each of his first six starts in a season since P Mordecai Brown won his first 11 starts in 1908.
Fantasy Tip: Arrieta is having a tremendous season, and he is off to a historic start. If you drafted Arrieta in your fantasy league he is likely single-handedly keeping you on top.

Chicago Cubs OF Jason Heyward (wrist) doesn't think he'll need to go on the disabled list. He started feeling something in his right wrist in the second series of the season against the Arizona Diamondbacks. "I don't think it's a long-term kind of thing by any means, but his wrist is sore," manager Joe Maddon said. "He hasn't said anything, and then finally he said something, so we're trying to react to it right now."
Fantasy Tip: Heyward owners must be concerned considering he's off to a slow start. Keep him benched for now and check back for updates on when he might return. It could be any day now. Javier Baez and Tommy La Stella benefit the most as long as Heyward is out of the lineup. Baez is hitting well and has the most fantasy upside due to his power-speed combination. Baez should be owned in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Szczur had been productive in a bench role (.367, two home runs), but he wasn't playing enough to warrant any kind of fantasy consideration outside of daily leagues. Kalish will fall into a similar role.

Chicago Cubs OF Jason Heyward (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, May 3. 3B Kris Bryant moves to right field. 2B/OF Javier Baez is starting at third base and hitting sixth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jon Niese. Also, OF Jorge Soler is in the two-hole Tuesday.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward's wrist has apparently been bothering him for some time, which may have led to his slow start (.211/.317/.256 with no home runs). Hopefully for his owners a little time off will help him turn things around. Baez has done nothing but hit when given the chance this year (11-for-31), so he's a great daily pick today. Soler is off to a slow start but could be a contrarian pick that pans out in DFS today hitting at the top of the order.

Fantasy Tip: Hammel's ERA rose to 1.24, which shows the kind of season he's having. He's worth owning everywhere for now.
Mon, 02 May 2016 21:45:46 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain exactly how much time he will miss until he undergoes the testing, but if you're in a seasonal fantasy league, or you play DFS, avoid Szczur for the time being until his situation becomes clearer.
Mon, 02 May 2016 19:09:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Szczur is considered day to day. When healthy he is only worth using in deeper NL-only fantasy leagues and as a salary saver in DFS leagues when he starts.
Mon, 02 May 2016 14:28:15 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It has been a disastrous start for Heyward, as he has yet to hit a home run and sits with a .211/.317/.256 slash line. His 13 runs, 13 RBI and four stolen bases help, but Heyward is currently far from being the five-category contributor fantasy owners were anticipating. Stay tuned for updates on his wrist injury.

Chicago Cubs OFs Jason Heyward and Jorge Soler are not in the starting lineup Monday, May 2. OF Matt Szczur is starting in right field and batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole Monday.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward and Soler have underwhelming .211/.317/.256 and .190/.290/.310 slash lines to start the season, respectively. Both of their fantasy stocks are trending in the wrong direction, too. Szczur is a potential low-priced flier for daily contests Monday because of his 10-for-28 start to the season, but Cole is an intimidating opposing hurler, so keep your expectations in check.
Mon, 02 May 2016 12:08:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: La Stella has a .295/.364/.474 slash line through 108 plate appearances since joining the Cubs, including a .455 on-base percentage this season over 33 PA. It is a daunting matchup against Cole, but La Stella is a viable low-priced flier for daily contests Monday.
Sun, 01 May 2016 10:52:13 -0700
Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler and C David Ross are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran Sunday, May 1. 3B Kris Bryant will start in left field, while 2B Tommy La Stella will start at third base and is batting sixth in the lineup. C Tim Federowicz will start at catcher and is batting eighth.
Fantasy Tip: La Stella has gone 5-for-8 with four doubles, one home run and two RBI over the last seven days. He should be an attractive candidate for owners in daily fantasy leagues. Federowicz is making his first start of the season and can be avoided by all owners.
Sun, 01 May 2016 10:45:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Bryant missed the last game because of an ankle injury but appears to be fine. He is hitting .289 with four home runs and 15 RBI this season and is a must-start option in all leagues.
