Fantasy Tip: Richard was 4-2 with a 2.09 ERA through nine starts at Class AAA Indianapolis. He pitched in the majors from 2008 to 2013, and he posted a respectable 3.88 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 520 innings over 84 starts between 2010 and 2012. Richard stands as a high-risk start in all formats Saturday, although, it isn't a terrifying matchup.

Fantasy Tip: Iowa begins a road trip after the game Friday, so there is a chance it will be Soler's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) final rehab outing. While FantasyScore players might want to hold off starting him in contests initially to allow him to shake off some rust at the major league level, seasonal owners can return Soler to their lineups immediately upon his recall.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and his .229-1-10 line shouldn't be used on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) was filling in for Kris Bryant ($5,700, 11.4% of cap), and he responded with his best game of the season. However, Herrera is hitting just .229, and on the rare occasions he does spell Bryant, he typically won't provide much value at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Soler's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) raw power will be a welcomed addition to any fantasy squad. Soler will return to an everyday role in right field when he's back, moving Chris Denorfia ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) to more of a bench role for the Cubbies.

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed five hits and just one run while walking none and striking out seven in eight sharp innings to beat the New York Mets Thursday, July 2. Arrieta lowered his ERA on the season to 2.80 in the 98-pitch outing.
Fantasy Tip: Arrieta's ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) fine 2015 season is no fluke. In his last six starts, he's allowed just 10 earned runs in 41 innings while fanning 43. He should always be in consideration for a spot on your FantasyScore lineups when he pitches, and against offensively challenged clubs like the Mets, he becomes a lock.
Thu, 02 Jul 2015 11:02:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Roach ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) allowed four earned runs in just 3 1/3 innings in his only other start this year against the St. Louis Cardinals. The matchup is a much better one for him, but he's still a deep sleeper best avoided on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) isn't much of an option on FantasyScore.
Thu, 02 Jul 2015 07:31:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Denorfia ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting .325 this season, but he has just six extra-base hits. He has a really low ceiling on FantasyScore today against Jacob deGrom.
Thu, 02 Jul 2015 07:30:43 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Castro ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is struggling with a .261-5-36 line and has a tough matchup. Avoid him on FantasyScore.
Wed, 01 Jul 2015 22:08:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Lester ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) hasn't been as dominant as expected in his first year in Chicago, and although he shut down the Mets, he is by no means a safe bet at FantasyScore in his next scheduled start against a St. Louis Cardinals team with a much better offense.

Fantasy Tip: Although Chicago has been using a committee to close games, don't read too much into Grimm's performance Wednesday. The game went 11 innings, and it is unlikely Grimm will see many save chances under normal situations.
Wed, 01 Jul 2015 14:27:36 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Coghlan ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) hit .317 (26-for-82) with one home run and six RBI in the month of June. He's an under-the-radar play tonight on FantasyScore in a run-producing spot in the lineup against the struggling Colon. There is value to be had here.
Wed, 01 Jul 2015 14:00:15 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Montero ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) in all formats Wednesday. He is currently reeling at the dish with a .189/.250/.189 slash line over his past 12 games. Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has .585 OPS this season, and FantasyScore players should aim higher Wednesday.
Wed, 01 Jul 2015 13:51:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore players. Russell ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has a .231/.310/.354 slash line over his past 38 games, and he is best replaced in the majority of seasonal formats at this point. There is plenty of upside for Russell, and he doesn't look lost at the highest level, especially in the field. Still, until he strings together a solid run at the plate, he is a low-end fantasy option.
