Fantasy Tip: Russell's first week in the majors has been a rough one, and he is hitting .136 with 12 strikeouts in five games. The big hit could start a hot streak for the highly-touted prospect, but until he shows some more consistency at the plate, he can be avoided at FantasyScore when he is added to the player pool.

Fantasy Tip: Wood ($3,700, 7.4% of your cap) is off to a good start with a 3.24 ERA and 17 K's in 16 2/3 innings. He'll be a solid low-end starter to use on FantasyScore next week, especially for the Brewers game.

Fantasy Tip: Pull all Reds and Cubs from your FantasyScore lineups.

Fantasy Tip: Before the injury, Fowler ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) was scoring runs at will with 10 over his previous 10 games, and he stole three bases, too. During the span, he also sported a .279/.380/.488 slash line with five extra-base hits. Typicallly, FatasyScore players are encouraged to be cautious with players returning from injury, but Fowler pinch hit Thursday, April 23, and Fowler is in an ideal lineup spot to to continue touching home plate frequently.

Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester is 13-15 with a 4.04 ERA in the first month of the season in his career, and he's 0-2 with a 6.89 ERA in three games in 2015. He'll make his fourth start against the Cincinnati Reds Friday, April 24. He allowed six runs and 10 hits in six innings to the Reds April 13.
Fantasy Tip: It's still early, but Lester ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) owners should be mildly concerned, especially considering he has major issues holding runners on base. While he's in his early-season rut, it's best to stay clear of him at FantasyScore, especially at his price point. The Reds have been one of the better offensive clubs in baseball in the first month.

Fantasy Tip: Fowler ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should be good to go for Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds and starter Mike Leake. Fowler is attractive to FantasyScore users atop the Chicago lineup, and he should be in consideration for your daily lineups tomorrow if he returns at a hitter-friendly ballpark in Cincy.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo ($5,500, 11.0% of your cap) has 10 walks in 47 at-bats thus far, so maybe it's a move to give him a chance to see more pitches to hit. He has a .319-1-5 line to open the season, but the move takes away some RBI potential. He's still an elite first baseman option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: This just adds to his versatility and keeps him on the field. At $4,400 (8.8% of your cap), he's a midrange third baseman on FantasyScore.

Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada (groin) made his first minor-league rehab start Wednesday, April 22 for Triple-A Iowa. He allowed two runs and six hits over 5 1/3 innings, walking four and striking out five.
Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if Wada will have a place in the Chicago rotation when he is back to 100 percent, if he will work out of the bullpen or if he will pitch for the I-Cubs. Either way, FantasyScore owners need not bother with him until he can officially make a start for the big club and prove his health.

Fantasy Tip: Fowler ($3,000; 6.0% of cap) was replaced by Chris Denorfia ($1,900; 3.8% of cap), who might get a start in Fowler's place if he is forced to miss time. FantasyScore owners will want to avoid Fowler until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. Legs are obviously an important part of his game.

Chicago Cubs 3B Kris Bryant had two more hits and two more RBI Tuesday, April 22, and he has eight hits and six RBI in his first five major league games, making him only the third player in team history with at least that many hits and RBI in the first five games of his career.
Fantasy Tip: After a disappointing debut in which he struck out three times last Friday, Bryant ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has delivered on his prospect hype, minus the home runs. At his current FantasyScore price, Bryant is an excellent value play worth daily consideration. Look to get him into your daily lineups Wednesday against Pittsburgh Pirates starter Vance Worley.

Fantasy Tip: There will certainly be better days for Russell. FantasyScore owners simply need to be patient, as he will hit much sooner than later.
Tue, 21 Apr 2015 13:09:56 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Russell is too new a callup to have any official FantasyScore value yet, but it's clear they want to remove any pressure from him by batting Russell last in the lineup. Like with Kris Bryant, there will be some pressure on him to start so wait until he has had one or two games under his belt.
Tue, 21 Apr 2015 12:55:33 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Montero ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) looks like he is getting a standard night off. Castillo ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) may not be a bad option for starters looking to go cheap on the catcher spot, but catchers like Texas Rangers starter Carlos Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) may be a better bet.
Tue, 21 Apr 2015 12:54:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Denorfia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) will likely be in the outfield mix before too long as he was just activated from the 15-day disabled list. Coghlan is listed as No. 1 on the LF depth chart, but keep an eye on Denorfia moving forward. He has two hits in three at-bats and could move into a platoon with Coghlan against left-handed pitchers.
