Chicago Cubs OF Jason Heyward (wrist) entered against the Washington Nationals in place of OF Dexter Fowler Thursday, May 5, after Fowler was ejected. Heyward was originally planning to return to the lineup Friday, May 6.
Fantasy Tip: Check on his status prior to Friday's game just to be sure, but it looks like Heyward should be safe to reinsert into starting lineups.

Fantasy Tip: With a prime spot in a powerful Chicago lineup, Zobrist should produce useful offensive numbers all year.

Updating a previous report, there is a possibility that Chicago Cubs C Miguel Montero (back) may not require a rehab assignment before being activated from the disabled list. He had an impressive showing during batting practice Thursday, May 5, launching several home runs, according to manager Joe Maddon.
Fantasy Tip: Based on the positive reports surrounding his progress, it wouldn't be surprising to see Montero return to action after spending the minimum 15 days on the disabled list. He got off to a slow start at the plate this year and isn't worth stashing outside of NL-only, two-catcher and deep mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Montero has had a slow start with just seven runs, a home run, six RBI and a .208/.316/.333 slash line. He shouldn't be stashed outside of cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only leagues. David Ross and Tim Federowicz will continue to split starts behind the plate until Montero returns.

Fantasy Tip: You're not taking Bryant out of your lineup in seasonal leagues, but daily players will want to consider spending up for the budding superstar at home when the Cubs face a right-handed hurler. Bryant is also currently riding a 10-game hitting streak with 11 runs, two bombs, 10 RBI and a 1.187 OPS. He is a ripe daily option Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Heyward's fantasy value has been buoyed by his 13 runs, 13 RBI and four stolen bases because his .211 average and zero in the home run column have been incredibly disappointing to start the season. Don't forget, though, Heyward had just nine runs, two home runs, four RBI, a stolen base and a .217/.261/.349 slash line after the first month of the season last year, too. Be patient because better numbers are ahead. Stay tuned for updates.

Fantasy Tip: Soler hasn't made the most of his opportunity in left field, hitting only .185 (12-for-65) with two home runs and six RBI. As a result, he's lost playing time and is a candidate to drop in shallow mixed leagues. Kalish has battled his way back to the bigs and hasn't played since 2014 with the Cubs. He's a low-end option in daily games but could see more run if he plays well, at the expense of Soler.

Chicago Cubs OF Jason Heyward (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup Thursday, May 5. 3B Kris Bryant moves to right field, while 3B Tommy La Stella is at the hot corner and is batting second against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward's struggles and wrist injury are perplexing to his fantasy owners, and don't rule out the Cubs placing him on the DL to rest. Any more time that Heyward misses is beneficial to La Stella and Javier Baez, with Baez having the more fantasy upside because of his intriguing power-speed combination. La Stella has been productive, too (.297/.381/.514) and is a midrange DFS play against Ross.

Fantasy Tip: Heyward has missed the last few games with a wrist injury that has bothered him since a few weeks into the season. Perhaps that's why he's hitting only .211 with no home runs after the first month. If healthy, Heyward should turn things around in the middle of one of the majors' most dangerous lineups. You may want to take a wait-and-see approach with him when he returns, though.

Fantasy Tip: Lester is off to a great start and returning ace value for fantasy clubs. Through six starts, the veteran has a 1.58 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP and 38 strikeouts through 40 innings. Continue to start him confidently going forward.

Fantasy Tip: It was just Zobrist's second long fly of the season, and his .375 slugging percentage is extremely underwhelming. However, Zobrist was brought aboard because of his on-base skills, and he is currently reaching base at a .373 clip. Zobrist is a viable option at the keystone in the majority of seasonal leagues and already has 16 runs and 16 RBI for the campaign.

Fantasy Tip: Since returning from injury Saturday, April 16, Baez has seven runs, a home run, four RBI and two stolen bases with a .341/.372/.488 slash line. He has also already appeared at each of the four infield positions, and should soon be an incredibly valuable fantasy piece to add flexibility to your roster. There is upside for more than semi-regular at-bats if Baez continues to hit and flash his plus-glove. He should be owned in all but the shallowest of fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: The RBI leader (27) now has 22 runs for the season, and the home run was his ninth of the campaign. Rizzo appears locked in for another monster fantasy season, and it is worth noting, he has improved his batting average from .163 to .260 through his past 12 games. During the 12-game stretch, Rizzo has 14 runs, six home runs and 16 RBI. He's red hot.
Wed, 04 May 2016 06:57:18 -0700
Fantasy Tip: La Stella is a low-end option to consider against Juan Nicasio. He just doesn't provide a lot of punch in DFS.
Tue, 03 May 2016 23:23:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Bryant has hit safely in nine straight games, going 15-for-35 (.429) with 10 runs scored, two homers and 10 RBIs.
