Fantasy Tip: It was Ziegler's first blown save since joining Boston and his second straight loss. He should remain the closer for now, but Craig Kimbrell is set to return soon and should reclaim the gig in short order.

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez took a no-decision for his start Wednesday, July 27, opposite the Detroit Tigers. The southpaw went 5 1/3 innings, surrendering three runs on nine hits and three walks. He also struck out six.
Fantasy Tip: Not a very pleasant outing, but it certainly could've been worse given the amount of baserunners Rodriguez permitted throughout this effort. While he does have some promise, it's hard to invest in the 23-year-old lefty right now, as he's allowed three or more runs in six of his nine starts this season.

Boston Red Sox RP Craig Kimbrel (knee) threw a bullpen session Wednesday, July 27, and is expected to make a rehab appearance with Class AAA Pawtucket Saturday, July 30. Manager John Farrell said Kimbrel may only require the one appearance before being activated from the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners could have Kimbrel back as soon as next week, and his return would end the save opportunities Brad Ziegler receives. Kimbrel is a must-stash arm, and Ziegler owners should already to be planning for other avenues to saves.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez is scorching hot with a .306/.411/.645 slash line, 11 runs, five home runs and 15 RBI through 17 games in July. He should be owned and started in all fantasy leagues. Hill is 4-for-25 since joining the Red Sox, and he's nothing more than a depth option in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues going forward. Facing Fulmer Wednesday, Hill isn't a strong option in daily contests, either.

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Tuesday, July 26, against the Detroit Tigers. The homer was his 25th of the season, his fourth straight with 25 or more homers, and the 12th time he has reached the plateau in his illustrious career.
Fantasy Tip: Big Papi still has plenty left in the tank as he approaches the final two regular season months of his career. He remains a must-start fantasy option across all formats and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Fantasy Tip: Wright's ERA has slowly crept up over the past month from 2.01 to 3.12 in six starts. Still, he has four wins in five decisions during the span, and he remains a must-start fantasy option across all formats.

Fantasy Tip: Leon is still having success at the plate this season and has recorded two home runs and 10 RBI this month. Leon should be a solid starting option in two-catcher leagues and some mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Hanigan is hitting only .173 in limited playing time this season and should be avoided by owners in all fantasy leagues.
Mon, 25 Jul 2016 21:23:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Leon is starting fairly regularly, hitting .400 with an OPS well in excess of 1.000. He has emerged as a must-start in all AL-only fantasy leagues and deeper mixed formats, especially when he is facing left-handed pitching.

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (knee) was hitless in five at-bats in his return to the lineup Monday, July 25, against the Detroit Tigers in his return to the lineup after missing two games due to a sore right knee.
Fantasy Tip: Despite the hitless performance it appears safe to get Betts back into the active fantasy lineup.

Boston Red Sox SP Drew Pomeranz allowed two earned runs, four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings Monday, July 25, against the Detroit Tigers. He threw 64 of his 99 pitches for strikes.
Fantasy Tip: Pomeranz was much better in his second outing with the team after getting bounced around by San Francisco last time out. He'll get it going once he gets comfortable in Boston, and remains a must-start across all fantasy formats with his 2.84 ERA and 1.12 WHIP.

Boston Red Sox RP Craig Kimbrel (knee) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, July 27, and is lined up to make a rehab appearance Saturday, July 30. He could be activated from the disabled list after the rehab outing.
Fantasy Tip: Kimbrel hasn't been quite as dominant as in past seasons (3.55 ERA and just 17 saves), but he's still a must-own reliever with the upside to provide a top-tier return down the stretch. Continue to stash him in all fantasy settings and be ready to plug him back into your starting lineups once activated.

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (knee) had fluid drained from his knee two days ago, which lead to diminished swelling and less pain. However, manager John Farrell said they "don't fully expect (the fluid) to vanish," which means Betts may need some more days off heading into a tough August schedule.
Fantasy Tip: It's a little concerning for Betts owners, but the fact that he's back in the starting lineup and hitting leadoff Monday should quell any concerns for now. After all, Betts has become one of the more valuable fantasy outfielders with his .307 average, 79 runs scored, 20 home runs, 63 RBI and 16 stolen bases. Get him back into all starting lineups.
Mon, 25 Jul 2016 12:36:52 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Betts is a fantasy star and sits with 79 runs, 20 home runs, 63 RBI, 16 stolen bases and a .307/.345/.534 slash line. Confidently return him to your lineups in all fantasy settings, as he only missed two games with the minor injury.

Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello became the first pitcher in 55 years to start a season 10-0 at Fenway Park, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits while walking one and striking out eight over 6 2/3 innings in a win over the Minnesota Twins Sunday, July 24.
Fantasy Tip: It wasn't his finest outing by any means, but Porcello continues to exceed expectations. He is a must-start player in season-long leagues and a viable option in daily formats when he pitches at home.
