Fantasy Tip: Holt is hitting .333 this month, and he has a good matchup against Ricky Nolasco. Hill is hitting .306 this month, and both are solid low-end options.

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (knee) is out of the lineup Saturday, July 23, with OF Michael Martinez hitting ninth. Manager John Farrell said nothing is structurally wrong with Betts. He is day to day, but he could miss some time.
Fantasy Tip: Martinez isn't a potent enough bat to use in fantasy, even against Ricky Nolasco. Keep an eye on what the Red Sox opt to do in Betts' absence. Chris Marrero could come up, and he'd be a matchup play.

Fantasy Tip: With Boston having acquired Drew Pomeranz, Buchholz is increasingly viewed as an odd man out. This may be a case where a change of scenery might do Buchholz some good. Stay tuned to see where he ends up and, if he does have a new team, how that new team uses him.

Fantasy Tip: Although Rodriguez's overall numbers this season look terrible, he has posted a respectable 2.19 ERA in two starts since the All-Star break. He's worth owning in the majority of seasonal leagues based on his potential.

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (knee) left the game against the Minnesota Twins Friday, July 22, because of right knee soreness. He is considered day-to-day and was replaced in right field by INF/OF Michael Martinez.
Fantasy Tip: Betts went 1-for-2 with a solo home run before leaving Friday's contest after the fourth inning. The 23-year-old is 8-for-14 with three homers in his last four games and is a viable option in all fantasy formats when healthy.

Boston Red Sox OF Andrew Benintendi is making his first career start in left field for Class AAA Portland Friday, July 22. The organization was to prepare him for an eventual role as the left fielder, but there is currently no timeline for his promotion.
Fantasy Tip: Benintendi owns a .277/.342/.475 slash line over 225 plate appearances with Portland, but at just 21, he might not be much of a fantasy factor this season. A cup of coffee with semi-regular playing time in September seems most likely, and outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues that doesn't carry much value. For now, it's best to just monitor Benintendi's progress over the next few weeks.

Boston Red Sox RP Koji Uehara (pectoral) received a platelet rich plasma injection Friday, July 22, but he does not have a firm return timeline currently. ESPNBoston.com's Scott Lauber speculates Uehara will be out until Thursday, September 1.
Fantasy Tip: Uehara is a potential stash candidate if you have the luxury of additional bench spots or DL slots. However, given his potential return timeline, he likely won't be in the mix for the ninth-inning gig when healthy. There probably isn't a lot of fantasy value ahead for the 41-year-old reliever.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki has been moving the fantasy needle since the calendar flipped to June with a .345/.371/.529 slash line. He's worth a look in all leagues while hitting this well. Centeno is nothing more than a low-end option in all fantasy formats given his career .204/.275/.360 line.

Fantasy Tip: With Craig Kimbrel (knee) and Koji Uehara (pectoral) both currently on the DL, Tazawa can carry great importance over the next few weeks, even having potential to close some games if Brad Ziegler is unavailable. At the very least, Tazawa can be very useful in leagues that score holds, as he'll get plenty of opportunities.

Boston Red Sox SP Steven Wright allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits while walking one and striking out a season-high nine over eight innings in a win over the Minnesota Twins Thursday, July 21.
Fantasy Tip: Wright bounced back after a few mediocre outings, and you may want to try to sell high on the 31-year-old while his overall numbers remains strong.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia continues to be a steady bat in a loaded Boston lineup, and he should be starting in all but the shallowest of leagues.
Thu, 21 Jul 2016 17:28:02 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Swihart hasn't played since June 4, when he sustained a sprained left ankle, and now it appears it's becoming more difficult for him to get back on the field. Pegged a breakout candidate by some, it looks like that potential emergence will have to wait until next season. He slashed .258/.365/.355 in 19 ballgames before going down with the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Young was placed on the disabled list Thursday, June 23, and he currently doesn't have a firm return timeline. For now, he's only worth stashing in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues because he'll likely slot back into a platoon role and start mostly against lefties. Stay tuned for updates.

Fantasy Tip: Kimbrel also played catch Wednesday, July 20, so he's clearly progressing well and could return at the short end of his three- to six-week timeline. For now, Brad Ziegler will handle the ninth inning for Boston, and he should be owned in all fantasy formats. Similarly, Kimbrel should be stashed everywhere.

Fantasy Tip: Inexplicably, Leon keeps hitting. He has started the team's last four games behind the dish and is 5-for-14 with two home runs and six RBI in that stretch. There's no way he can keep this up, but unless you're pressed for roster space or have a stud backstop there's no reason not to use Leon until he cools down.
