Fantasy Tip: Although the original plan was to send Rodriguez back down to the minors after his start, his strong showing and Boston's shaky rotation could change things. He is worth a speculative grab in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: After a hot start, Ramirez (5,600, 11.2% of cap) has been ice cold in May. Entering Thursday's game, he had yet to homer this month and had managed just a single RBI. The home run could spark a hot streak, but for now, he remains too risky for the price at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: If Bogaerts misses time, Brock Holt ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) could see some extra playing time and make a nice source of cap relief at FantasyScore. Holt is hitting .299 on the year, including .329 against right-handed pitching, and has scored five runs in his last four games.

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts (undisclosed) exited in the fourth inning against the Texas Rangers after being hit by a pitch on the left wrist in the second inning Thursday, May 28. He was replaced in the lineup by OF Carlos Peguero.
Fantasy Tip: His early exit is likely a result of being hit in the wrist, but check back for more information about his health and whether or not he will miss time.

Fantasy Tip: Nava can be dumbed in all formats, as he was hitting just .159 (10-for-63) on the season. Carlos Peguero is now on Boston's active roster after being acquired in a trade yesterday, and he'll provide outfield depth. He'll be a low-priced FantasyScore option, but he's a weak play when in the starting lineup.

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz went 1-for-12 during the recent three-game series against the Minnesota Twins, and he will receive a few games off in an attempt to find his swing, according to manager John Farrell. His batting average is just .212, and he has only six home runs and 21 RBIs this season with a .679 OPS.
Fantasy Tip: The 39-year-old slugger could finally be beginning his decline. Make sure to avoid Ortiz ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats until he returns to the lineup, and FantasyScore players would be wise to wait for him to show a little pop at the dish before inserting him into their lineups. Seasonal owners could test the trade waters to see if Ortiz's name value can garner a plus-return.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is 6-for-13 over his past four games with five runs, two RBI and a 1.226 OPS. He is a great low-priced target for FantasyScore players Thursday.

Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello has allowed 13 earned runs over 11 and one-third innings in his last two starts. Porcello has allowed five home runs in his last three starts. Since Sept. 1, 2014, Porcello is 4-8 with a 5.60 ERA.
Fantasy Tip: Porcello's ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) 5.07 ERA is over a full run higher than his xFIP, but even with an ERA of 4.06, Porcello would be tough to trust. Porcello has a career high strikeout rate, but until he can limit his runs better, he should be avoided on FantasyScore.

Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello allowed six earned runs in seven innings in a loss to the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, May 27, and he has given up 13 earned runs in 11 1/3 innings in his last two starts after allowing just six earned runs in his previous 25 2/3 innings over four starts. "I'm leaving the ball up too much," Porcello said. He walked two and struck out two in seven innings and saw his ERA rise to 5.37 on the year.
Fantasy Tip: Porcello ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) isn't fooling many hitters right now, and he should be a very shaky FantasyScore play in his next outing, too. He's not worth the risk until he turns things around on the mound.

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia hit two two-run home runs in a loss against the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, May 27. It was his second multi-home run game of the season and fifth of his career. He finished with two runs and four RBI to raise his season average to .290.
Fantasy Tip: Pedroia ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has been one of the few bright spots in the Red Sox's batting order in 2015. However, don't expect much power the rest of the way, as four of his seven home runs on the season have come in two games.

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez went 0-for-3 Wednesday, May 27, and he's now 17-for-81 (.210) with a .511 OPS, no home runs and one RBI in the month of May as the team's cleanup hitter. He has been hitting the ball hard right to opponents, but he's also not pulling the ball to left field of late. Ramirez says that pitchers have been busting him inside.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has seen his average fall to .256 (41-for-160) on the season after he hit 10 home runs in April. Until he breaks out of his funk at the plate, you should avoid using him in daily games.

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez will be called up from Class AAA Pawtucket to start against the Texas Rangers Thursday, May 28. He was 4-3 with a 2.98 ERA in eight starts in the minors and struck out 44 in 48 1/3 innings. Manager John Farrell said the team will go with a six-man rotation for a turn, with the plan to return Rodriguez to the minors. The other starters will all be pushed back a day. Farrell acknowledged that it may be hard to send Rodriguez back down if he pitches well tomorrow. SP Joe Kelly has struggled this year, has minor league options left and could pitch out of the bullpen if necessary. The Red Sox are also looking for an opportunity to call up SP Brian Johnson, who is 5-3 with a 2.92 ERA in nine starts for Pawtucket.
Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez should be picked up in all AL-only leagues, and he even warrants consideration in deep mixed formats if he stays in the rotation. However, starting him at FantasyScore tomorrow for a cheap price seems too risky. Joe Kelly ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) will probably need to turn in a fine performance in his next start to avoid being bumped from the rotation.

Boston Red Sox OF Rusney Castillo (shoulder) is out of the lineup due to a strained right shoulder Wednesday, May 27. He was injured while making a diving catch late in the game Tuesday, May 26. He can swing the bat but feels pain when throwing, according to manager John Farrell. Boston thinks it's a minor injury.
Fantasy Tip: Castillo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has been injury-prone in his young career, but it looks like this one won't keep him out for long. He hasn't done much at the plate since his call-up, but if last year's results in a limited sample size were any indication, Castillo should put up big numbers eventually. Keep an eye on his progress in the coming days.
Wed, 27 May 2015 08:01:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Castillo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) receives a breather Wednesday, and he should be removed from all daily lineups. Holt ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is an upside source of cap relief for FantasyScore players Wednesday, as he has heated up with four runs, four hits and two RBI over his past three games.
Wed, 27 May 2015 07:57:11 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) went on a 16-game, 7-for-47 slump, but he appears to have kicked the funk with four runs, four hits and two RBI over his past three games. FantasyScore players should view Holt as an upside source of cap relief Wednesday.
