Baltimore Orioles news, rumors and injuries

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman (ankle) is still experiencing a sore left ankle that is being called a sprain, and he's taking it day-to-day. Tillman is unsure if he will make his next start Monday, Aug. 3. If he doesn't, he could start a day or two after.
Fantasy Tip: With the way Tillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has pitched lately, he should be owned in all leagues. At FantasyScore, he'll carry a bit more risk in his next start coming off his tweaked ankle, but he could still be plenty profitable in the right matchup.

Fantasy Tip: The Orioles would have a seriously retooled and even more dangerous lineup with the additions of Parra and Cespedes. Cespedes' ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) fantasy value would probably receive a slight boost with a move to Baltimore. Jimmy Paredes would likely see his value take the biggest hit if Cespedes came over.

San Diego Padres OF Justin Upton is of interest to the Baltimore Orioles, but the Orioles are hesitant to part with SP Kevin Gausman, RP Mychal Givens or 2B Jonathan Schoop in any deal for a veteran bat.
Fantasy Tip: A move to Baltimore would surely make Upton ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) more valuable to his fantasy owners, although he oddly has better hitting splits at pitcher-friendly Petco Park in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: The move to Baltimore definitely won't hurt Parra's ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) fantasy value. He'll likely be hitting atop the Baltimore order, too, which might allow Manny Machado to enter a more friendly run-producing spot in the lineup. The trade will hurt the playing time of Travis Snider and Nolan Reimold.

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies OF Ben Revere is still in the mix for the Baltimore Orioles, even after they acquired OF Gerardo Parra Friday, July 31. A source said the chances of Revere landing in Baltimore are 50-50.
Fantasy Tip: Revere ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has been one of the few bright spots for the Phillies in an otherwise dismal season. His fantasy value is sure to be on the rise if he's traded to a contending team, especially in Baltimore with a potent offense in a hitter-friendly ballpark.

Fantasy Tip: With the Orioles just trading for Gerardo Parra, it's unlikely that they also go after Revere ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) seriously. However, a lot can happen before the deadline. Stay tuned. Revere's fantasy value would likely be on the rise if he leaves Philly and one of the worst offenses in baseball.

Fantasy Tip: A move to Baltimore should be nice for Parra's ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) fantasy value, and he could remain in the leadoff spot, pushing Manny Machado to the middle of the order. Parra will now set the table for a much more potent offense as one of baseball's hottest bats. Davies projects as a back-of-the-rotation starter in the majors and should be monitored in dynasty leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Parra ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is one of the hottest hitters in the league and has been a great pickup for his fantasy owners. A move to Baltimore is unlikely to change his fantasy value all that much, but he would be hitting in a much more potent offense.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) has 16 RBI during his last nine games, and while he remains a streaky hitter, he is worth every penny at FantasyScore when he is launching homers on a daily basis.

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez has been mentioned in trade talks between the Rockies and the Baltimore Orioles, per sources Thursday, July 30. San Diego Padres OF Justin Upton and Detroit Tigers OF Yoenis Cespedes are considered the more likely options for Baltimore.
Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has been on a tear of late, hitting eight home runs since July 22. A move from Coors field would be a negative for his fantasy value, but he would benefit from being a part of the better Orioles' lineup.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:18:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in a Baltimore uniform would be quite intriguing, and his fantasy owners surely wouldn't complain about a move to hitter-friendly Camden Yards. However, it wouldn't drastically affect his fantasy value.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:48:54 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It'd be a shame for Tillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) owners if his next start is in jeopardy because of this. He tossed 8 2/3 scoreless innings over the Atlanta Braves last night and is 4-2 with just five earned runs allowed in 41 1/3 innings in his last six starts. Tillman should be owned in all leagues now and is a strong play on FantasyScore during this run.

Baltimore Orioles OF Jimmy Paredes is hitting fifth in the order as the designated hitter against Detroit Tigers SP Alfredo Simon Thursday, July 30, while OF Nolan Reimold is starting in left field and hitting second.
Fantasy Tip: Simon has really been struggling for the Tigers this year and is coming off a short outing due to injury in his last start. That makes both Reimold ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) and Paredes ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) attractive as value buys. Reimold could obviously return much more profit as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore.

Baltimore Orioles OF Travis Snider is not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz Wednesday, July 29. OF Nolan Reimold will start in left field and is batting seventh in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) probably will return to the lineup in the near future. Reimold ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has recorded five hits in his last two games but had only three hits in the 10 games prior. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman is 2-0 with a 3.41 ERA in 31 2/3 innings and has registered a quality start in his last five interleague starts since July of last year. He faces the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, July 29.
Fantasy Tip: Tillman ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has allowed only five earned runs in his last five starts (32 2/3 innings) dating back to June 28. He's a very attractive second starter on FantasyScore tonight against the offensively challenged Braves.
