Atlanta Braves minor league OF Josh Anderson, currently with Triple-A Richmond, has a club-record 22-game hitting streak, according to Tim Pearrell of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Anderson is batting .316 on the season with 40 stolen bases. He is two games shy of the International League record for this season, set by 1B Randy Ruiz. The all-time league record of 44 consecutive games was set by OF Brandon Watson, then with Triple-A Columbus, in 2007.

Carroll Rogers, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Braves SP Tom Glavine (elbow) believes he needs surgery on his elbow, but hopes it will be to repair a torn flexor tendon, not a torn ligament. Glavine said if his flexor tendon needs to be repaired, he would consider pitching next season since the recovery time would be about three or four months. If he needs ligament surgery, he would not have the surgery and would retire because of the long rehab that would be needed. He has an appointment to meet with Dr. James Andrews Wednesday, Aug. 20.
