Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski, OF Jonny Gomes and RP Jim Johnson are all available in trades at the deadline this week. The Atlanta Braves are in listening mode, and all three of these players are on cheap one-year deals.
Fantasy Tip: While Pierzynski ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) and Johnson currently have prominent roles with the Braves and would lose considerable fantasy value in any trades, Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is unlikely to see his already weak value change much in a trade. Keep Arodys Vizcaino's name in your back pocket if you are searching for saves this week, as he could be in line to take the closer's role if Johnson leaves town.

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski will serve as the designated hitter against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman Monday, July 27, and is batting fourth in the lineup. C Ryan Lavarnway will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) remains in the lineup even though he receives a day off from the field. He is hitting .345 this month and is a solid option for owners on FantasyScore. Lavarnway ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has played well since joining the Braves, but owners should be able to find better options to use.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has been struggling at the plate this month and could be helped by moving lower in the starting lineup. He is hitting .176 this month and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.
Mon, 27 Jul 2015 12:42:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Markakis ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has been hitting lower in the lineup but will be batting first Monday. Markakis has at least one hit in five of his last six games and recorded three RBI during that span. Owners could consider using Markakis on FantasyScore, but there may better option for owners to consider.

Atlanta Braves OF Adonis Garcia went 1-for-4 with a go-ahead solo home run, the first of his career, in a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, July 26, and manager Fredi Gonzalez said Garcia's bat needs to be in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Garcia is 30 years old, so he isn't an up-and-coming prospect. However, his performance is worth keeping an eye on, and he could become a useful value play at FantasyScore if he does become a regular starter going forward.

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski is not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha Sunday, July 26. C Ryan Lavarnway will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the next game or two. Lavarnway ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting only .188 this season and should not be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Atlanta Braves 3B Chris Johnson is not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha Sunday, July 26. 3B Adonis Garcia will start at third base and is batting fifth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) should return to the lineup in the near future. Garcia has gone 1-for-4 since joining the Braves and should not be a fantasy option at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) will receive his first start since returning from the disabled list. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see him play in a full game because considering him an option for their lineup.
Sat, 25 Jul 2015 19:48:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) was activated prior to the game, but until he is back in the starting lineup and swinging the bat well, you can afford to take a wait-and-see approach with him at FantasyScore.
Sat, 25 Jul 2015 16:04:29 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is not in the lineup because he hasn't arrived in St. Louis in time. He could be in Sunday. The team wanted him to stay on a rehab assignment until Thursday, but they brought him back early after Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe were traded. Give him a game or two to kick off the rust.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has struggled at the plate this season, batting .203 with four home runs and 13 RBIs through 62 games entering play Friday, July 24. On the other hand, Maybin ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is enjoying arguably the best season of his career, hitting .283 with eight homers, 44 RBIs and 16 steals through 83 contests. Johnson is 2-3 with a 2.15 ERA and eight saves since replacing Jason Grilli as the Braves' closer.
Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:35:58 -0700
Atlanta Braves 2B Jace Peterson is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 24. SS Pedro Ciriaco is starting at second base and batting second with OF Cameron Maybin moving up to the leadoff spot against St. Louis Cardinals SP Tim Cooney.
Fantasy Tip: Peterson ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is slumping in July with a .169/.239/.231 slash line over 73 plate appearances, and he should be avoided in the majority of fantasy formats until he turns it around at the dish. Maybin's ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) fantasy value isn't overly impacted, and he remains a mid-tier outfield option. Ciriaco ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) checks out as a cheap flier for FantasyScore contests Friday.
Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:09:58 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) could rejoin the Braves sooner than later now that he has been cleared to return to the diamond. He is a second-tier first baseman in all fantasy formats, and should be returned to seasonal lineups immediately upon his arrival back with the big club. FantasyScore players shouldn't rule out being a little more patient allowing him to readjust to the big leagues.

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran could be dealt prior to the non-waiver trade deadline, according to two rival executives, Wednesday, July 22. A source with knowledge of the Braves' thinking said that the team is not even considering such a move.
Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is still only 24 but it doesn't make sense for the Braves to waste some of his best years while they are multiple pieces away from contending. The fact that Teheran has struggled to a 4.49 ERA through 20 starts would likely diminish any return the Braves could get and this could be a trade they revisit in the summer.
Wed, 22 Jul 2015 17:26:21 -0700
Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran was charged with the loss Wednesday, July 22, against the Los Angeles Dodgers, despite matching a career high with 11 strikeouts. Teheran dropped to 0-4 with a 6.07 ERA in four career starts against the Dodgers, and he suffered his first home loss in 10 starts this season.
Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) pitched seven full innings, allowing six hits, three runs and three walks. Teheran hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in four consecutive starts, and he's a quality GPP option on FantasyScore, despite his low win probability.
