Fantasy Tip: Castro ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is worth using in FantasyScore if you're looking to save salary to allocate to your pitching spots.

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) saw big improvement with his right thumb from Sunday, Aug. 2, to Monday, Aug. 3. However, the team still isn't sure when Simmons will return to the starting lineup. "He took an MRI," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. The team is awaiting the team doctor to read the results.
Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain how long Simmons will remain sidelined. Daniel Castro ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) made a start in Simmons' place at shortstop and is a short-term, low-priced option in FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players, you know the drill. At least it wasn't an aggravation of the wrist injury which forced him out for several weeks. Avoid using Freeman ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) until he can officially return and prove his health in two full games without any lingering discomfort.

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 3. 2B Daniel Castro is starting at shortstop and batting eighth against San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain Monday.
Fantasy Tip: Simmons ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is still awaiting MRI results on his thumb. He suffered the injury diving for a ground ball in the field. Continue to check back for updates, but at this point, it seems possible he'll avoid a stint on the disabled list. Castro ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has no power upside, and he is nothing more than a desperation flier for FantasyScore contests Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has been in a bit of slump, and it cost him a spot at the top of the lineup. If he can play his way back into a better spot in the order, he could be worth considering again at FantasyScore.

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out seven over seven innings in a win over the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday, Aug. 2, and he owns a 2.56 ERA in his career against the Phillies and a 1.21 ERA since 2014.
Fantasy Tip: It was a rare impressive road outing for Teheran ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) this season, and if you plan on using him at FantasyScore, it is best to make sure it is a home game for Atlanta.

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) will undergo an MRI exam on his sprained right thumb Monday, Aug. 3. He suffered the injury while diving for a single off the bat of Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera Saturday, Aug. 1. X-rays revealed that the thumb is not fractured but Simmons is still experiencing pain.
Fantasy Tip: There is no timetable for Simmons' ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) return. He is batting .254 with three home runs and 30 RBIs in 102 games. Daniel Castro ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should see the bulk of the playing time at shortstop while Simmons is sidelined.

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons is out of the lineup Sunday, Aug. 2, against the Philadelphia Phillies. 2B Daniel Castro will start at shortstop and hit eighth in the order against LHP Adam Morgan.
Fantasy Tip: Castro ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) hit .389 at Class AA this season, but he hit just .264 at Class AAA before joining the Braves. FantasyScore owners will need to see him start producing before making the investment.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 08:08:31 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting just .231 against left-handed pitching, and he's no longer relevant for FantasyScore purposes.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 08:04:19 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) in .321 through 58 plate appearances against lefties this season, and he'll offer some cap relief to FantasyScore owners in GPP tournaments.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 07:59:45 -0700
Atlanta Braves OF Nick Markakis is out of the lineup Sunday, Aug. 2, against the Philadelphia Phillies. OF Cameron Maybin moves into the leadoff spot against LHP Adam Morgan, OF Eury Perez will start in right field and hit second in the order.
Fantasy Tip: Perez ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) has three singles and three walks in 12 plate appearances against lefties this season, and he can be used in GPP tournaments in the hope he's able to get on base.
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 19:18:28 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It was Perez's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) first start since coming off the disabled list with a left foot contusion and also the worst outing of his career, after he had gone 4-0 with a 2.88 ERA in 11 games prior to getting hurt. He will make his next start against the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, Aug. 5, with the unenviable task of squaring off against Madison Bumgarner.
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:46:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Buchanan ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) could grab the vacated rotation spot left by Cole Hamels ($8,900, 17.6% of cap), and he could be worth grabbing in NL-only formats. Buchanan's upside is limited, though. FantasyScore players should likely pass Friday, and at best, Buchanan should be viewed as a desperation flier.
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 11:41:56 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) could be a potential AL-only option if he is dealt to an American League team, but he will enter a platoon, at best. He has a career .275/.378/.480 slash line against lefties, which is why he is a potential trade candidate. He is unlikely to see regular at-bats. You'll want to keep an eye on Gomes for FantasyScore purposes, though.
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:39:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: So it looks like Teheran ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) will remain with Atlanta at the deadline. He's been pretty inconsistent this year with a 4.71 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 1.3 home runs allowed per nine innings. Teheran is strictly a matchup play against weaker offensive teams and preferably while pitching at home.
