Fantasy Tip: Bethancourt ($1,900, 3.8% of your cap) has been in a 50-50 split with A.J. Pierzynski ($2,000, 4.0%) thus far, and Pierzynski is mightily outperforming him. Bethancourt is hitting just .133 with two RBI, while Pierzynski has a .400-3-5 line. Bethancourt will still likely see an extended look this season, and Pierzynski's surge is unlikely to sustain an entire season. However, A.J. is the one to target on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) saw his seven-game hitting streak snapped Friday, and he is still looking for his first home run of the year. If you are going to take a chance on a cheaper shortstop at FantasyScore, it is a good idea to choose someone with a little more upside than what Simmons has shown so far this season.

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski had three hits and a walk in the loss Wednesday, April 22, and he was back in the starting lineup again in a day game Thursday, April 23, over C Christian Bethancourt. Pierzynski was 9-for-23 (.391) with a double, three home runs, five RBI, a .462 on-base percentage and .826 slugging percentage in six games before Thursday. Bethancourt was expected to be the primary catcher, but he's hitting just .133 (4-for-30) with two doubles, two RBI, two walks, a .188 OBP and .200 slugging percentage. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said he'll continue to play Pierzynski if he's hot or the matchups dictate it.
Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), 38, has been a surprise for the Braves to start the year, but his pace at the plate surely won't last. However, while he's hot, he can be a nice value play at FantasyScore in the right matchups. Bethancourt ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) owners in deep mixed and NL-only leagues need to stay patient.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes ($2,200, 4.4% of your cap) is 8-for-21 (.381) with three solo homers against Bartolo Colon in his career. If you're looking to take a chance on a low-end outfielder, Gomes has promise on FantasyScore.

Atlanta Braves SP Eric Stults is 3-1 with a 2.87 ERA in seven career appearances against the New York Mets, and he allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings against the Mets in a win on April 10. Stults is 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA and has allowed three home runs in his first two starts of the year. He was tied for fifth most in 2014 with 25 home runs allowed.
Fantasy Tip: Don't let those stats against the Mets fool you into thinking Stults ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a worthwhile play at FantasyScore this evening. The Mets are one of the hottest teams in baseball, despite an injury-depleted lineup.
Wed, 22 Apr 2015 13:30:44 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has two home runs on the young season, but he's hitting .182 (4-for-22). He's a weak FantasyScore play tonight, considering he also hit just .220 (50-for-227) against right-handers in 2014, although six of his seven home runs came against them.
Wed, 22 Apr 2015 13:25:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Callaspo ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has only 10 hits in 36 at-bats (.278) with just two RBI for the Braves so far in 2015. The switch hitter only hit .238 (61-for-256) with three of his four home runs in 2014 off of righties, too, making him a low-end second base option at FantasyScore.
Wed, 22 Apr 2015 13:13:05 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is off to a slow start at the plate, hitting only .176 (6-for-34) with three RBI and two stolen bases. Hitting atop of the lineup gives him slightly more appeal for those FantasyScore owners willing to trust him against Gee tonight.
Wed, 22 Apr 2015 13:10:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Eric Young Jr. ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is off to a rough start in April, hitting only .176 (6-for-34) with three RBI and two stolen bases. He's hitting leadoff against Mets starter Dillon Gee, though, which slightly increases his FantasyScore value as a deep sleeper for mainly his speed.
Wed, 22 Apr 2015 10:37:14 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen if Gomes ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) will be in the starting lineup tonight, but there's a good chance he's penciled in with those career numbers against Colon. If he's in there, consider him a sleeper option at FantasyScore.
Tue, 21 Apr 2015 14:38:29 -0700
Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman and OF Nick Markakis combined to go 12-for-20 with nine runs scored over the weekend, and Freeman has four home runs in the last eight games. Markakis is hitting .375 to start the year.
Fantasy Tip: Both Freeman ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) and Markakis ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) should be considered strong plays at FantasyScore while they are hot at the plate. However, you may want to reconsider starting them both in daily games tonight while facing New York Mets starter Jon Niese, a lefty.
Tue, 21 Apr 2015 14:29:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) hasn't had the start to 2015 that he'd like, and the acquisition of Cameron Maybin has hurt his overall fantasy value with infrequent playing time. When Young is in there and hitting atop the lineup, he's a cheap and under-the-radar source of stolen bases at FantasyScore.
Tue, 21 Apr 2015 13:49:54 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Peterson ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) looks like he is out due to the Mets starting Jon Niese. Gosselin ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is not worth the salary due to a small sample size and one hit in his last 10 at-bats.
Tue, 21 Apr 2015 13:44:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Maybin ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) should not be touched as he is 2-for-17 (.118) with one home run in his last seven days of action. Look for other low-cost options with similar value.
Sun, 19 Apr 2015 07:28:33 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Peterson ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has recorded a hit in five of his last six games but has not posted a multi-hit game this season. Peterson could be a cheaper option to consider on FantasyScore, but owners may want to look for a better option.
