Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb is not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed SP Francisco Liriano Tuesday, May 24. 2B Phil Gosselin is starting at third base and is hitting second.
Fantasy Tip: Gosselin doesn't do much at the plate (.250-1-4) and isn't a strong candidate to take as a deep sleeper in DFS action despite the nice position in the batting order tonight. Look elsewhere.

Fantasy Tip: Bourn is off to a solid start with his new team, but with his speed diminished at this stage in his career, he is merely a fringe option in NL-only leagues.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke allowed one run on five hits while walking one and striking out seven over eight innings in a win over the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, May 21, and he said he used his curveball more often and did a better job of mixing up his pitches.
Fantasy Tip: Greinke was never going to approach last year's numbers, but perhaps the change in pitch selection could lead to more strong outings.

Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb is not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia Sunday, May 22. OF Brandon Drury will start at third base, while OF Michael Bourn will start in right field and is batting second.
Fantasy Tip: Bourn has gone 3-for-11 with two RBI and one stolen base since joining the Diamondbacks earlier this month and can be a starting option for desperate owners in daily fantasy leagues.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas is out of the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Mike Leake Saturday, May 21. 2B/OF Rickie Weeks will start in left field and bat fifth. In addition, C Welington Castillo is starting behind the plate and batting sixth, INF/OF Chris Owings will bat seventh and play left field and INF Nick Ahmed will bat eighth and play shortstop.
Fantasy Tip: Weeks, Castillo and Owings are productive sources of cap relief for daily fantasy contests but Ahmed should be avoided due to his .188 average in 138 at-bats this year, including a .176 mark versus right-handed pitching.

Fantasy Tip: Segura now has a .337 batting average, and he has hit well from the leadoff spot. All this adds up to a recommendation to play Segura in all formats. He seems to be the straw thet stirs the Arizona drink, or at least the one that rescued the Diamondbacks from a horrid fate on he field.

Fantasy Tip: Herrmann is now hitting .290, which is a decent average for a catcher in either league. What's more impressive is his .609 slugging percentage. Herrmann is a solid hitter who should be activated in daily fantasy circles when he plays. As long as Herrmann has a hot bat then you should take advantage of it.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke is 4-3 with a 5.08 ERA and leads the majors in hits allowed. He has allowed one run or less just once in nine starts after doing so 21 times in 2015. Opponents are hitting .402/.442/.690 with a 12.6% strikeout rate against his fastball compared to .201/.261/.362 with a 19.4% strikeout rate last year.
Fantasy Tip: We warned fantasy owners that Greinke was in line for a rough transition to the desert with his new team. He's especially struggled at Chase Field. His mediocre fastball in 2016 could be a mechanical issue. In any event, it's unlikely he's this bad, but he shouldn't come anywhere near to his 2015 numbers. Be wary of starting him at home against certain opponents.

Fantasy Tip: Peralta isn't eligible to return until Tuesday, May 31, so plan to be without him until then. Arizona has mixed and matched lineups in his absence, but Michael Bourn could be a fleeting flier in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Continue to stash Peralta in all fantasy formats and check back for updates on his recovery.

Arizona Diamondbacks C Welington Castillo is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 20. C Chris Herrmann draws the start behind the dish and is batting sixth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez.
Fantasy Tip: Castillo remains Arizona's starter and a fine midrange fantasy catcher, but he hasn't homered since May 3 and is seeing more time off lately in favor of Herrmann. The lefty swinging Herrmann hasn't been too shabby himself with a .277/.324/.569 line and four home runs. He should garner interest in two-catcher and deeper NL-only leagues for his hot hitting of late. You could do much worse in DFS if you're looking to save money at the catching position tonight.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Michael Bourn is starting in center field and is hitting second against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez Friday, May 20. SS/OF Chris Owings moves to shortstop and is batting eighth with SS Nick Ahmed taking the night off.
Fantasy Tip: Bourn has always been known as a speedster, and he had 61 steals all the way back in 2011. But as he ages, he's struggled to reach base frequently and had only 17 stolen bases in 141 games with multiple teams last year. The lineup spot is nice tonight, but Bourn remains strictly a low-end outfield option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues just for his wheels. He won't play every day, either.

Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb has made adjustments to hit inside pitches with authority after being eaten up by them in 2015. Rather than bringing his hands forward and back again, he lowered them and minimized the movement. Lamb believes his swing now enables him to keep his bat in the zone longer while also using his legs more, thus producing more power.
Fantasy Tip: He's only hitting .239 at home and .299 on the road, which is odd considering his home ballpark is so friendly to hitters. He's now a mainstay in the lineup, but that .107 average against lefties is likely to keep him out against them most times. Lamb is a midrange option at the position who could heat up with the weather.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke's fastball is being pummeled with a .402/.442/.690 slash line and a 12.6% swing-and-miss rate. Last season, the slash line against it was .201/.261/.362 with a 19.4% whiff rate. He has allowed one run or fewer once in nine starts after doing it 21 times last year. His 67 hits allowed are the most in the majors.
Fantasy Tip: It's still incredibly early, and several aces are being tattooed. He has an 8.10 K/9, which is nearly identical to last season's masterpiece. He'll figure it out eventually, but the desert in Arizona isn't likely to do him many favors. For that, we'd temper buy-low expectations.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 18. OF Phil Gosselin is starting in left field and batting second against New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi Wednesday.
Fantasy Tip: Gosselin has gone 14-for-51 to start 2016 and has an unimpressive .663 OPS. He is nothing more than a low-priced flier in daily contests Wednesday. Tomas is having a nice season with 23 runs, five home runs, 14 RBI and a .295/.347/.485 slash line thus far, and he should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke enjoyed one of his best starts of the season Tuesday, May 17, versus the New York Yankees. He logged seven innings of three-run ball, scattering just five hits, no walks and striking out seven.
Fantasy Tip: After his nightmarish start to the year, the former Cy Young winner is starting to settle in comfortably, as he's now racked up quality starts in three of his past four assignments. In the process, his ERA has been lowered to 5.08. Greinke is a great buy-low candidate right now for owners looking to trade for the right-hander, as it looks like he's decisively breaking through his early-season struggles. He appears to be in a fine rhythm right now.
