Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke (oblique) had a 40-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday, July 26, and manager Chip Hale indicated that Greinke will likely take the hill in an Arizona Rookie League game on Friday, July 26.
Fantasy Tip: Greinke, out since June 29, looks like he's making some progress and getting closer to a return. Of course, with the D-backs already playing out the string they'll take no chances in rushing him back in action.

Updating a previous report, Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb (hand) is expected to play little, if at all, during their current series with the Milwaukee Brewers. Manager Chip Hale indicated that upon starting their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, which begins on Friday, July 29, that they'd like to "get [Lamb] back to playing every day again."
Fantasy Tip: A 0-for-19 skid prompted the break, and it dropped Lamb's average from .302 to .284 in a five-game span. When healthy, Lamb is an everyday option, so monitor the situation to see when he returns.

Fantasy Tip: Arizona rallied to tie the game late, keeping Corbin from losing his fourth in a row, but the lefty hasn't logged a win since June 21. He's someone that has minimal appeal, even in NL-only setups.

Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb (hand) is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, July 26, against the Milwaukee Brewers. OF Brandon Drury will play third base and bat eighth against Brewers SP Matt Garza.
Fantasy Tip: Manager Chip Hale did say Lamb might get some time off to rest his bruised left hand, and it appears he's following up on it. Drury (.264-9-25) has five hits, including three doubles, in the past week and may be worth a low-cost flyer in DFS circles.

Fantasy Tip: This was a typical first performance by a rookie pitcher, and based on what was on display it's best if you give Shipley some space. He may yet blossom into a decent pitcher this season, but the odds are he'll need a bit more seasoning. For now, Shipley should be left alone unless you want to stash him in very deep NL and mixed formats.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke (oblique) will throw an up-and-down bullpen session to simulate a game atmosphere Tuesday, July 26. He will then throw a simulated game or make a rehab appearance Friday, July 29, if all goes well.
Fantasy Tip: Greinke could land back in the majors for a start next week, barring any setbacks. He's posted a 8-1 record with a 2.63 ERA and 67 strikeouts over 78 2/3 innings over his latest 12 starts. Greinke should be stashed in all fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: Bourn isn't the type of player that normally is a good bet for daily leagues, as it's rare for him to stuff the stat sheet. Moving down the order makes him even less attractive, but he is batting .279 with eight runs and two steals in the month of July.

Fantasy Tip: It looks to be a normal day off for Castillo. Replace him everywhere. Gosewisch has a limited offensive ceiling and is batting .263 with a homer and three RBI in 19 at-bats this year. Consider him a desperation pick in daily formats.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke (oblique) threw 45 pitches during a bullpen session Sunday, July 24. His next step either will be a simulated game with the Diamondbacks or a minor league rehab game, manager Chip Hale said.
Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Greinke's progress and be prepared to activate him after he has had one major league start, mainly to see how Greinke does when he returns.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Godley became the first pitcher in franchise history to reach seven career wins as a starter in as few as 10 starts. He allowed 10 hits and five runs with two walks and three strikeouts and also hit a batter Sunday, July 24, in a 9-8 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Fantasy Tip: Godley is only 3-1 overall, but here's the bad news. He has a 5.88 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP. Those totals are way too high to recommend playing him. Also, Godley is in a precarious role as the fifth starter on the team. He could find himself on the outside looking in.

Fantasy Tip: Tomas has been a bit of a disappointment this year. Entering this game his line was .252-13-34, so to drive in that few runs with that many homers isn't really special. Still, Tomas has had nine hits in his last seven games, including three doubles, so he is showing some signs of life at the plate. He may be worth play in DFS formats and deeper NL and mixed leagues.
Sun, 24 Jul 2016 14:24:43 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Goldschmidt is hitting .290-16-62 with 13 stolen bases, but his home run production had declined in the last week. Still, he's hitting well enough to recommend his usage in all formats.
Sun, 24 Jul 2016 12:00:20 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Miller has had an awful first season with Arizona and is currently 2-9 with a 7.14 ERA. He probably would receive the chance to start if he is traded but is not a strong fantasy option until he is able to put several quality starts together.

Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb and OF Michael Bourn are not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Brandon Finnegan Sunday, July 24. INF/OF Chris Owings will hit sixth and play center field, while INF/OF Brandon Drury will bat seventh and play third base. In addition, INF Phil Gosselin will bat second and play second base, OF Rickie Weeks will hit cleanup and start in left field and C Welington Castillo will bat fifth and start behind the plate.
Fantasy Tip: Arizona is using a lineup exclusively made up of right-handed and switch hitters against the lefty Finnegan this afternoon, which explains the absences of Bourn and Lamb. Although he has struggled recently, Weeks may be worthy of consideration as a value play in DFS because he is hitting fourth and has performed well on the road (.304) and against southpaws (.278) this season.
Sun, 24 Jul 2016 07:36:48 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Suarez is struggling in July with just six runs, two home runs, three RBI and a .242/.299/.355 slash line. He's a replaceable asset in most mixed settings. De Jesus owns a .242/.303/.350 line over the past two seasons and is nothing more than a desperation start in all fantasy formats Sunday.
