Washington Redskins news, rumors and injuriesSat, 15 Jun 2013 20:56:53 -0700 Washington Redskins LB Brian Orakpo (pectoral) is not worried about his contract expiring after this season, saying it will take care of itself. Share: Redskins | Make roster moves Fri, 14 Jun 2013 19:52:44 -0700 The Washington Redskins waived TE DeAngelo Peterson (foot) and DL Doug Worthington (biceps) and signed free-agent PK John Potter (Bills), who was the kickoff specialist for the Buffalo Bills in 2012. Peterson broke a bone in his foot last week, and Worthing suffered a triceps tendon injury which might require surgery. If unclaimed, both players would land on Injured Reserve, with the team paying for their rehab. Share: Redskins | Two rookie safeties could play plenty Fri, 14 Jun 2013 19:51:57 -0700 Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said FS Bacarri Rambo and Phillip Thomas could each end up playing significant minutes this season. Share: Redskins | Leonard Hankerson feeling more comfortable Fri, 14 Jun 2013 13:30:27 -0700 Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson said he is feeling more comfortable and confident with the offense because he has been able to participate in offseason workouts for the first time since entering the league. Hankerson is expected to enter training camp as the No. 4 wide receiver on the depth chart. Share: Redskins | DeAngelo Hall considered sitting out 2013 Fri, 14 Jun 2013 13:07:20 -0700 Washington Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall said he considered sitting out the entire 2013 season before deciding to re-sign with the team. "I felt like I could do some things off the field that would have been just as lucrative as coming to play. So I really had to sit back and just examine the situation, see if I did feel like I could do it again. And I felt like I could. I felt like the coaches are going to do a good job of putting me in position to be successful, and that's all you can ask for," Hall said. Share: Redskins | Adam Carriker to start camp on PUP list Thu, 13 Jun 2013 12:11:12 -0700 Washington Redskins DE Adam Carriker (quadriceps) said he will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list because he needed a second surgery on his quadriceps injury. He hopes to be ready for the start of the regular season but that is uncertain at this point. Carriker has been running and is looking for more range of motion in his knee. Share: Redskins | Make roster move Thu, 13 Jun 2013 11:13:38 -0700 The Washington Redskins waived FB Dorson Boyce Thursday, June 13. Share: Redskins | Kyle Shanahan defends zone-read plays Wed, 12 Jun 2013 16:29:47 -0700 Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said the club doesn't have to eliminate the option running elements in order to protect QB Robert Griffin III (knee). Echoing his father, head coach Mike Shanahan, Kyle Shanahan contended that the read-option plays safeguard Griffin by taking steam out of opposing pass-rushers. Griffin was hurt on improvisational runs and merely needs to work on picking his spots to slide or throw the ball away when facing QB pressure. The younger Shanahan said that they might have to adapt more as defenses plan better for the system. Fantasy Tip: Griffin is a borderline QB1 on draft day with well-known upside. If you take him, just make sure to draft a capable backup in case he can't start the season on time. Share: Redskins | Sign Devery Henderson Wed, 12 Jun 2013 15:59:46 -0700 The Washington Redskins have signed free-agent WR Devery Henderson (Saints). Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Fantasy Tip: After signing Donte' Stallworth earlier in the day, Washington continues building veteran depth. Of course, time will tell if either inked player will make the final roster, but Henderson could be quite useful as a deep threat. It's something to watch this summer, but not too closely. Share: Redskins | Donte' Stallworth signed Wed, 12 Jun 2013 12:46:24 -0700 The Washington Redskins have signed free-agent WR Donte' Stallworth (Patriots). Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Share: Redskins | Doug Worthington may need surgery Wed, 12 Jun 2013 11:15:43 -0700 Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said DE Doug Worthington (biceps) suffered a biceps injury during minicamp and may need to undergo surgery. Share: Redskins | Adam Carriker update Wed, 12 Jun 2013 07:12:15 -0700 Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins DT Adam Carriker (quadriceps) had multiple surgeries on his torn quadriceps. Share: Redskins | Jordan Pugh will miss minicamp Tue, 11 Jun 2013 12:31:00 -0700 Washington Redskins S Jordan Pugh (ear) will not take part in minicamp this week because of an ear infection. Pew is at the team facility after being cleared to travel, but is having balance issues. "He's OK now, but he's got a balance issue, so the doctors didn't want to practice him today or tomorrow," coach Mike Shanahan said. "But he'll be ready for camp. Didn't want to practice him today or tomorrow, but he'll be ready for camp, a little bit unusual ear infection that he does have, but the doctors advised him not to practice." Share: Redskins | Donte' Stallworth to be signed Tue, 11 Jun 2013 10:53:09 -0700 Free-agent WR Donte' Stallworth impressed Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan during practice at the team's minicamp Tuesday, June 11. Shanahan indicated that Washington intends to sign Stallworth, barring a decline in his play in the next couple of days. Fantasy Tip: Stallworth hasn't made anything close to a fantasy impact for a few years, so he's likely to serve as depth until more comes of this. Share: Redskins | Robert Griffin III looks ready Mon, 10 Jun 2013 10:40:11 -0700 Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) ran sprints around the practice field Thursday, June 6, and looks like he'll be ready for their late-July training camp. Griffin sprinted the 53-yard width of one of the end zones without limping. He then planted his twice repaired left knee and pivoted left up the sidelines. Fantasy Tip: King said he gets "zero sense" that the team thinks Griffin will have to miss Week 1. Keep this in mind as you approach the middle rounds of fantasy football leagues. Griffin could come at a solid value if you can have him after, say, Round 6 in a 12-teamer, but you better take a high-end backup to protect your investment. Share: ![]() |
