Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson (Achilles') could take the field as early as the Redskins' final preseason game. Head coach Jay Gruden said the "total expectation" is for Doctson to be good to go by Week 1, although he is not at 100% health yet. Gruden does believe that Doctson is in a good place from a mental standpoint.
Fantasy Tip: It sounds positive, but it will be more positive when Doctson is taken off the PUP list. He'll be part of a crowded receiving corps whenever he is ready. Jordan Reed, DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Jamison Crowder and more will all be in the mix. There may not be enough opportunity for Doctson to achieve more than WR5 numbers.

Fantasy Tip: Soreness isn't anything to frown about. Crowder should be back to full health soon. He could be a top-three wideout for the Redskins this year and holds more value in PPR formats after catching 59 passes in his rookie season last year. It's safer to draft him as merely a WR5 option in such leagues, however, with Jordan Reed, DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon all demanding targets.

Washington Redskins OT Trent Williams (knee) said he will play in the preseason game against the Buffalo Bills Friday, Aug. 26. Williams missed the first two preseason game because of his knee injury.

Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones (shoulder) will sit the rest of the preseason because of a sprained shoulder, according to head coach Jay Gruden. RBs Keith Marshall and Rob Kelley will both get first-team looks in place of Jones.
Fantasy Tip: Now the question is how healthy Jones will be for the start of the regular season, or if he'll even be available for Week 1. He should still be in the low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 conversation as Washington's starter, but keep tabs on his status over the next couple of weeks.

Fantasy Tip: If Doctson is going to miss six games, it will be tough to justify stashing a receiver who will likely be fourth in the pecking order for targets.

Updating an ongoing story, Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones (shoulder) suffered a slight separation of the AC joint of his left shoulder Friday, Aug. 19, and it "won't be too long" until he returns, head coach Jay Gruden said.
Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen if Jones will be ready for Week 1, but based on Gruden's comments, he isn't dealing with a long-term injury. Jones should still be viewed as a potential RB2 or high-end RB3.

Fantasy Tip: A timetable for Jones' return remains to be seen, but if the injury lingers into the regular season, Chris Thompson could be a useful DFS sleeper depending on the matchup.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Jones will have to miss time because of the injury. Jones is expected to receive most of the work at running back in 2016 and can be a No. 2 running back for owners if he is healthy. Chris Thompson would receive a boost in value if Jones misses extended time and could be a late-round option in drafts.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins is receiving a game off and should return to the lineup for the next preseason game. He has one of the better receiver corps to work with and should be a low-end No. 1 or high-end No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Washington Redskins OG Spencer Long took more first-team snaps at left guard Wednesday, Aug. 17, than OG Shawn Lauvao (ankle, foot), but head coach Jay Gruden said Lauvao is still working himself back into shape. "You'll see more of (Lauvao) in the next couple of weeks and we'll see how he does. That's good competition," Gruden said.

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley took more snaps with the second unit in practice Wednesday, Aug. 17, rotating with RB Keith Marshall. A week ago, there was a gap between the two entering the preseason game and there still might be. However, Kelley was not working with the second unit before the preseason opener.
Fantasy Tip: Matt Jones will be the top dog in D.C. and Kelly or Marshall will be fighting for scraps. The winner of the primary backup job is worth a late-round flyer, but if Jones stays healthy all season their fantasy appeal will be rather minimal.
