Redskins | Rob Kelley quiet in return to action

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 22:13:22 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley finished with just 16 rushing yards on seven carries -- both season lows -- in the team's Week 7 game Monday, Oct. 23, versus the Philadelphia Eagles. He also caught both of his targets for 14 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Once again, the 25-year-old was outplayed by teammate Chris Thompson, who has emerged as the running back to own from Washington's backfield. It's not that surprising, as Kelley still has not even scored a touchdown yet in 2017, and has only topped 30 total yards in a game once all season. He shouldn't be started outside the deepest of leagues, and even then, it should only be in a desperate situation.

Redskins | Jordan Reed enjoys vintage performance

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 22:06:27 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed posted season highs across the board in the team's Week 7 game Monday, Oct. 23, against the Philadelphia Eagles, logging eight catches on 10 targets for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Where has this been all year? Owners who drafted Jordan Reed had to be excited about getting one of the best tight ends in all of football, but it took seven weeks for their investment to finally deliver what used to be a trademark performance for the five-year veteran. Additionally, tonight's two scores were miraculously the first two for Reed this season. Hopefully this will get him going after being a big disappointment early on.

Redskins | Chris Thompson salvages MNF outing with TD

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 21:56:38 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson ran seven times for 38 yards and also picked up 26 yards through the air on five catches in the team's Week 7 game Monday, Oct. 23, against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also scored his second receiving touchdown of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Predictably, Thompson got less carries with Rob Kelley returning to action in this one, but he still made the most of his workload, delivering a useful performance for his owners after all. Even when Kelley is healthy, Thompson typically outplays him, so he's still worth deploying as a fine FLEX option no matter what. Kelley did nothing with his touches again, making it possible that the team leans on Thompson more in the coming weeks.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins has real strong showing on MNF

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 21:25:20 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins completed 30 of 40 passes for 303 yards, while also tossing three touchdown passes and one interception in the team's Week 7 game Monday, Oct. 23, versus the Philadelphia Eagles. In addition, he picked up 18 rushing yards on three carries.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins has now registered 300-yard efforts in three of his last four games, amassing 10 touchdowns compared to just two interceptions over that span. He's typically a lower-end QB1 to roll with, but ever since his disappointing performance in the season opener, Cousins has actually been amongst the best quarterbacks in all of football. If he keeps up his recent play, he'll continue to be a viable option for all leagues.

Redskins | Rob Kelley active

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 16:41:46 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) is officially active for the team's Week 7 game.

Fantasy Tip: Kelley probably will be sharing playing with Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine against the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelley should receive a decent amount of touches during the game but is probably not a strong fantasy option against the Eagles.

Redskins | Rob Kelley listed as questionable

Sat, 21 Oct 2017 11:41:40 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ribs) was limited during practice Saturday, Oct. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Kelley is expected to play against the Philadelphia Eagles but will share work with Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson during the game. Owners probably should keep Kelley off the bench because there likely are other options available that will receive more work this week.

Redskins | Rob Kelley fine with committee

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 18:30:38 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley said it "wouldn't be beneficial" for him to receive all the carries, especially with RB Chris Thompson playing so well. "Whatever Coach needs, I'm there for," Kelley said. "If he wants me to run it the whole time, I can run it the whole time. If he wants to split carries, I can do that, too."

Fantasy Tip: Kelley can be left on the bench in Week 7 against the stingy run defense of the Philadelphia Eagles, and although Kelley's return will take some touches from the rest of the backs, Thompson remains a viable flex option in PPR formats.

Redskins | Rob Kelley expected to start MNF

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 15:59:58 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley is expected to start in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Jay Gruden said Friday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: While Kelley is expected to be the team's starter, Gruden added that the team will use all active running backs throughout the game, meaning Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson will continue to see regular work, too. It's a three-headed monster which is maddening to fantasy owners, and Kelley's appeal remains rather limited despite the starter designation.
