Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has the skill set suited for what head coach Jay Gruden wants to do with the offense, according to a person with knowledge of Gruden's thinking. Gruden thinks Cousins can succeed in the offense better than QB Robert Griffin III (ankle), but Gruden understood it would have been impossible to make a quarterback change without Griffin being injured. Gruden was having a hard time getting Griffin to grasp the drop-back passing system the last few months.
Fantasy Tip: Cousins looked good replacing Griffin, going 22-for-33 for 250 yards and two touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has another nice matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, and he might be worth a play in FantasyScore with what will likely be a bargain price.

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder), who is day-to-day with a shoulder sprain, said he plans to play in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a source that has talked with Jackson. Head coach Jay Gruden said Jackson's playing status will be determined based on pain throughout the week.
Fantasy Tip: The matchup could be a good one for Jackson against the 'Skins in Week 3, but for now, it's best to plan on avoiding him for your FantasyScore lineups.

Fantasy Tip: This is good news, obviously, but Griffin is still expected to miss an extended period of time. Kirk Cousins is a viable replacement in his stead.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson could be a risky start this week even if he does play, though the matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles is favorable.

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) is listed as day-to-day after being diagnosed with an AC joint sprain in Week 2. Jackson left the game in the first quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fantasy Tip: We'll have a better idea if Jackson can play in Week 3 after the team practices this week. Check back for updates on his condition.

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (ankle) isn't dealing with a fractured ankle, according to an MRI exam, and he doesn't think surgery is necessary. The best-case scenario for Griffin to recover from the injury is six to eight weeks, according to several surgeons.
Fantasy Tip: Griffin may not have to miss the rest of the season, but there's a good chance he won't be the same when he returns. Kirk Cousins will take over and isn't a bad option as a backup QB for fantasy if you're in need.

Washington Redskins TE Niles Paul caught eight passes for 99 yards and a touchdown in the Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars with TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) sidelined. Paul has mostly been a special teams player in his four seasons with the team, and he has only 18 catches over that time. However, Paul's starting role could be temporary when Reed returns from his injury.
Fantasy Tip: Look to add Paul off the waiver wire this week if you're in need of a backup tight end or if you own Reed. Reed's availability for Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles is uncertain, so Paul could be in line for another big day at FantasyScore for a cheap salary.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) suffered a sprained AC joint in the first quarter of the Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. "I feel a little better from when it first happened," Jackson said Sunday, Sept. 14. "The player actually just fell right on my shoulder." Jackson said he considers himself day to day, and it is too early to know if he'll be ready for the Week 3 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
