Redskins | Rob Kelley expected to start MNF

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 15:59:58 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley is expected to start in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Jay Gruden said Friday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: While Kelley is expected to be the team's starter, Gruden added that the team will use all active running backs throughout the game, meaning Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson will continue to see regular work, too. It's a three-headed monster which is maddening to fantasy owners, and Kelley's appeal remains rather limited despite the starter designation.

Redskins | Rob Kelley limited in practice

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 14:07:59 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) was listed as a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Kelley will have a limited fantasy impact if he is able to play, as the team has relied upon Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson during his absence. It might take a while for Kelley to carve out a larger role for himself, so avoid him in all but the deepest of fantasy formats.

Redskins | Rob Kelley limited Thursday

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 12:19:12 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) put in a limited practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Kelley has, for the most part, been a non-factor this year, whether because of injury or not. Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine have held the fort in Kelley's absence, and held it well. As long as Thompson and Perine are healthy, namely Thompson, it will be difficult for Kelley to gain fantasy traction.

Redskins | Dustin Hopkins going to IR

Tue, 17 Oct 2017 15:10:08 -0700

Washington Redskins PK Dustin Hopkins (hip) is being placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Oct. 17. Free-agent PK Nick Rose (49ers) was signed by the Redskins in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins is a big loss for the Redskins as he was/is one of the best kickers in the NFL. Fantasy owners shouldn't have a hard time finding a capable replacement on the waiver wire. Some names to consider are Stephen Hauschka, Chandler Catanzaro and Chris Boswell.

Redskins | Chris Thompson chasing history

Tue, 17 Oct 2017 12:57:15 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson is on pace to become the fourth running back ever to rush 100 times and eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in one season. Thompson must average 5.8 carries and 60.0 receiving yards per game.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson has been one of the most pleasant surprises of the 2017 season so far. He has turned into a reliable every-week starter and a household name in PPR leagues, pacing all running backs with 340 receiving yards. Either sell Thompson high or hang on to him and enjoy the ride.

Redskins | Josh Doctson to play bigger role?

Tue, 17 Oct 2017 09:06:13 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson is expected to see more playing time going forward, according to head coach Jay Gruden. "We are going to actively expand (his role), without a doubt. He didn't get as many reps as I would like at the end of the day when you look at the numbers, but it's our job. We have got to get him in there more and expand it," Gruden said.

Fantasy Tip: Doctson has played more than 20 snaps twice in five games, including 19 in Week 6, so there is definitely room for his role to grow. With that said, Chris Thompson has been about the only consistently productive pass-catcher in Washington this season despite being a part-timer at running back. Doctson is definitely worthy of a stash in deeper leagues, but it's fair to wonder how many more snaps he'll see or if he can do more with them than Terrelle Pryor and/or Jamison Crowder have with theirs this season.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins will sign a new kicker this week, but owners will have several options to choose from if they have Hopkins in their lineup.
