Washington Redskins news, rumors and injuries

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring) said playing this week against the Atlanta Falcons is a possibility. Jackson said as long as he improves every day, it's possible that he'll play, although head coach Jay Gruden isn't pushing him to make a premature return. Jackson had a limited practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Fantasy Tip: If Jackson ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) can get a full practice in later this week, that will look promising. He could be rusty and/or limited, though, so invest at your own risk.

Washington Redskins CBs Chris Culliver (knee) and DeAngelo Hall (toe) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 7. LB Perry Riley (calf) was limited. DE Kedric Golston (hand), LB Ryan Kerrigan (hip), OG Josh LeRibeus (calf), C Kory Lichtensteiger (finger), OG Spencer Long (ankle) and LB Trent Murphy (hip) participated fully.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has played the part of Kirk Cousins' safety blanket this year, but he's dealing with a slew of injuries right now and may miss this week's contest. If Reed sits, Derek Carrier ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) would be a good sleeper choice on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has a chance of playing this week after missing the last two weeks. If Jackson does play, he may be rusty and/or limited, though. The Redskins are facing off against the Atlanta Falcons, however, so Washington may be forced to pass a lot, which would give Jackson more value. Look for any updates on his status as the weekend approaches.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Garcon will be the Redskins' primary receiving threat in Week 5, assuming Jordan Reed and DeSean Jackson do not play. Garcon ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is still relatively cheap for how he's been producing lately. He's worth starting on FantasyScore as the Redskins may be required to pass early and often against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: Crowder has now seen 18 targets in the last two weeks as he has quickly turned into one of QB Kirk Cousins' favorite targets. Pierre Garcon and Jordan Reed are still the top-two options in Washington's passing game, but Crowder is beginning to make a name for himself.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's (concussion, knee, ankle) head injury is a real concern, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Reed has a long history of head injuries dating back to college and missed the last six games in 2013 after suffering two concussions in three weeks. Reed hasn't played more than 11 games in a single season. He has 24 catches for 278 yards and a touchdown after four games and is averaging a career-high 11.6 yards per catch.
Fantasy Tip: To say that Reed is injury-prone is a huge understatement. If you drafted him in traditional leagues, hopefully you made sure to get some solid backup insurance. If not, you'll need to start planning for a prolonged absence immediately. In the meantime, Pierre Garcon's fantasy value goes up even more, and Chris Thompson (11 catches in the last three weeks) could become worth of a look as a sleeper in a flex position.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee, ankle, concussion) suffered a right medial collateral ligament sprain and a right ankle sprain in addition to a concussion Sunday, Oct. 4, against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Fantasy Tip: It sure sounds like Reed has a lot of recovering to do, putting his Week 5 availability in doubt. Reed has an extensive injury and concussion history, so hopefully these new anguishes don't linger.

Fantasy Tip: Garcon ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) could have an even bigger role with DeSean Jackson (hamstring) and Jordan Reed (concussion) banged up. They have a tough draw against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5, but Garcon could be a midrange flex option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) could miss some time here. One analyst has surmised this is Reed's fifth known concussion. If that's the case, you'd have to think he's in danger of missing multiple weeks. Derek Carrier ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is his backup, but he has just five targets this year and isn't a good one on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Crowder ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) led the team in catches, targets and yards, and he has a combined 13 catches in the last two games. He appears to be gaining the trust of Kirk Cousins ($5,400, 10.8% of cap), and Crowder could be a sneaky sleeper at FantasyScore if DeSean Jackson misses more time.

Fantasy Tip: After a breakout performance in Week 2, Jones ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has been quiet in back-to-back games. Alfred Morris ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) isn't going anywhere, and from one game to the next, the back with that hot hand will likely see the most touches.
Sun, 04 Oct 2015 18:04:15 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Morris ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) had 10 more carries than Matt Jones ($5,000, 10.0% of cap), and the committee that seems to have developed between the two in the Washington backfield makes both backs risky options at FantasyScore.
