Redskins | Jordan Reed participates in practice

Wed, 23 Aug 2017 11:05:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed practiced for the first time this summer Wednesday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: It's far from an ideal scenario, but a healthy Reed at any point of the preseason is better than the alternative. He could see limited snaps this week and perhaps the final week of the preseason, but as of now it appears as if owners will have a healthy Reed in fantasy lineups for the season opener. Reed is unquestionably a top-five fantasy tight end when he is 100 percent.

Redskins | Jordan Reed activated

Sun, 20 Aug 2017 14:12:17 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Sunday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has missed the entire training camp because of his toe injury but should be on the field this week. Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Reed suffers any setbacks. Reed is a No. 1 fantasy tight end in all leagues but comes with some risk because of his injury history.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder a popular target

Sat, 19 Aug 2017 21:17:19 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder had two catches on a team-high five targets for eight yards in a 21-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers Saturday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Crowder has the most experience playing with Kirk Cousins among the current receiving corps, so it shouldn't be a big surprise his number was called often. He has WR2 upside, especially in PPR formats.

Redskins | Quiet debut for Josh Doctson

Sat, 19 Aug 2017 21:11:24 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) made his preseason debut Saturday, Aug. 19, and finished with one catch for 12 yards in a 21-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and John Keim of ESPN.com believes Doctson and QB Kirk Cousins need more time to work together to develop trust.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries have stunted Doctson's growth, but a steady role in a solid passing attack makes him worth grabbing as an upside WR5.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins off the mark

Sat, 19 Aug 2017 21:02:04 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins completed 14 of his 23 pass attempts for 144 yards and a touchdown in a 21-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the preseason Saturday. Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't the most efficient stat line for Cousins, but on the plus side, he was putting the ball in the air early and often. He has solid weapons around him and should be in line for another season of QB1 production.

Redskins | Samaje Perine runs well

Sat, 19 Aug 2017 20:54:10 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine had eight carries for 45 yards and one catch for 29 yards against the Green Bay Packers in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Rob Kelley struggled in the same game, which should only add steam to the Perine hype train. There is a good chance that no Washington back will emerge as an every-week fantasy starter, but Perine is worth a shot as a RB5 in case he becomes top dog in the backfield.

Redskins | No running room for Rob Kelley

Sat, 19 Aug 2017 19:33:04 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley had nine carries for nine yards and one catch for five yards against the Green Bay Packers in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Kelley doesn't exactly have a stranglehold on the starting gig, and outings like this won't help. The lack of job security makes him best suited as a RB3.

Redskins | Samaje Perine closing the gap?

Sat, 19 Aug 2017 09:18:36 -0700

Washington Redskins rookie RB Samaje Perine impressed the team with the way he bounced back from some miscues in the team's preseason opener on Thursday, Aug. 10, versus the Baltimore Ravens - both with how he responded in the game and during practice this week.

Fantasy Tip: Perine fumbled, dropped a pass and struggled in pass protection in his first NFL game, and ESPN's John Keim speculated shortly thereafter that "a gap" existed between Rob Kelley and the rookie for the starting job. That would appear to still be the case, but Perine is a powerful runner who will continue to get opportunities in what should be a pretty good offense. He's well worth a late-round pick as a high-upside RB5.

Redskins | Coach happy with Niles Paul

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 16:39:25 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Niles Paul has been one of the most impressive players during training camp, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Paul has worked at all of the tight end spots and can play fullback.

Redskins | Josh Doctson may play Saturday

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 16:24:41 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) has a chance to play in the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers Saturday, Aug. 19, but will work out prior to the game before the team decides on his status.

Fantasy Tip: Doctson probably would see limited snaps against the Packers if he is cleared but it looks like he is close to 100 percent. He is expected to be a top-three receiver for the Redskins this season and should have a solid role in the passing game. Doctson can be a No. 4 or No. 5 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed back at practice soon?

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 13:33:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) said he's hoping to return to practice either Monday, Aug. 21, or Tuesday, Aug. 22. Reed added that the orthotics he's been wearing have helped his toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the more frustrating players in fantasy football. He's a top-tier tight end when healthy, but he's as fragile as china too. If he's at full health entering the season, he's worthy of being drafted as a high-end TE1 with more value in PPR leagues.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder fully practicing

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 10:10:05 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder (hamstring) participated fully in practice Thursday, Aug. 17. He is expected to play in Washington' preseason game Saturday, Aug. 19, according to The Washington Post's Mike Jones.

Fantasy Tip: Crowder will be an integral part of the Redskins ' passing attack in 2017. He is better suited for PPR leagues as he should see plenty of targets in the slot with the departures of Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson. In such leagues, he has WR2 upside, but it's better to take him as a WR3.
