Redskins | Jamison Crowder to lead team in targets?

Tue, 27 Jun 2017 09:17:28 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder will "definitely" get targeted more often than Terrelle Pryor, according to CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Jay Gruden has talked up Crowder for the better part of the offseason. Earlier this month, Gruden said he would use the slot receiver in two-wide sets this season, so his start is most definitely pointing up. While Pryor may lead the team in receiving yards because he will run deeper routes, it appears Crowder will be the wideout Kirk Cousins will lean on the most, making him a potential dark-horse WR2 option in PPR leagues.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins deal still a long shot

Tue, 27 Jun 2017 07:52:58 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins reaching a long-term deal is still a long shot, according to sources. There are promising signs of late, though.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins is knocking on the door of the elite tier in fantasy, but there are safer players to deliver on that. Treat Cousins as an option if you miss out on the top three or four at the position.

Redskins | Samaje Perine making coach confident

Mon, 26 Jun 2017 12:22:28 -0700

Washington Redskins rookie RB Samaje Perine already has a good feel for the game, good feet, good vision and good strength, according to running backs coach Randy Jordan. Perine has also impressed with his catching ability. Jordan said Perine catches the football "so much better" than he thought he could.

Fantasy Tip: Perine has deserved hype heading into his first year, but the Redskins are deep at running back, too, with Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson and others. Perine isn't guaranteed the starting position, but he has a good shot to win the job. Drafting him in RB3 to RB4 territory is rational for now.

Redskins | Brian Quick on bubble

Sat, 24 Jun 2017 11:52:25 -0700

Redskins | Terrelle Pryor reaching out to NFL greats

Sat, 24 Jun 2017 10:08:16 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Terrelle Pryor is working out "at various points in the summer" with Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown and seeks out the counsel of former NFL receiver Randy Moss on a regular basis, according to ESPN's John Keim.

Fantasy Tip: Away from the quarterback turnstile in Cleveland, Pryor is poised to take the next step in his evolution as a receiver after finishing with 77 catches for 1007 yards and four touchdowns in his first full year at the position in 2016. Even though he will have to fight with Jordan Reed and Jamison Crowder for targets, he should be considered a low-end WR2 at worst.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder 'can play anywhere'

Fri, 23 Jun 2017 09:12:58 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder received a ton of praise from head coach Jay Gruden in a recent interview with the Washington Post. "I've said all along Jamison can play anywhere. He can play outside, inside. … He's an excellent player, dynamic player. He just continues to prove every day why we like him so much. He's great on option routes, he can run vertical stems. He can run just about anything you ask him to run," Gruden said.

Fantasy Tip: Crowder is obviously poised to see an increased role with DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon playing elsewhere, but Gruden's comments would seems to suggest he will receive plenty of playing time at the expense of 2016 first-round pick Josh Doctson in two-receiver sets. Crowder's star is most definitely pointing up, and he should be a savvy pick for owners as a low-end WR2/high-end WR3 in PPR leagues this summer.

Redskins | Kendall Fuller at full health

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 14:27:33 -0700

Washington Redskins CB Kendall Fuller (knee) is feeling fully healthy. Head coach Jay Gruden believes Fuller can break out in 2017 because he's not hindered by injuries. Now that he is 100%, Fuller is focusing on the mental aspects of the game, including trusting his instincts.

Redskins | Odds strong Kirk Cousins re-signs?

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 09:10:35 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has "become a leader and a fixture at a position of perpetual angst for (team owner Dan) Snyder," according to CBS sports Jason La Confora, who believes there is now an 80 percent chance Cousins signs a long-term deal with the Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: La Confora also suggests letting Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson walk in free agency was a precursor to a long-term deal for Cousins. There has been a lot of positive momentum to reach a long-term deal this summer, and the sides have just under a month to negotiate a contract before Cousins is forced to play under the franchise tag. He figures to be a low-end QB1 in 2017.

Redskins | Nate Sudfeld impresses

Mon, 19 Jun 2017 08:04:55 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Nate Sudfeld impressed senior vice president of player personnel Doug Williams in practice Tuesday, June 13. Williams said that the way Sudfeld practiced, he would have been a first- or second-round pick.

Redskins | Ryan Grant 'our most consistent guy'

Sat, 17 Jun 2017 15:52:06 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant is "our most consistent guy, without a doubt, as far as being able to line up everywhere, run the routes exactly how we want them at the right depth coming out of them," head coach Jay Gruden told reporters during minicamp.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Gruden's praise, it is hard to see where he can find the opportunities Gruden so desperately wants him to have. Terrelle Pryor, Jamison Crowder and Josh Doctson appear to have the top three receiver spot locked down, while tight end Jordan Reed is the focal point of the passing game. Owners can ignore Grant barring a rash of injuries in 2017.

Redskins | WAS wants long-term deal for Kirk Cousins

Fri, 16 Jun 2017 14:09:31 -0700

Washington Redskins vice president of player personnel Doug Williams said the team wants to sign QB Kirk Cousins to a long-term extension in the worst way. Williams said the two sides have been negotiating this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins will have about a month to sign Cousins to a long-term deal, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He has thrown for at least 4,100 yards in each of the last two seasons and has posted 54 touchdowns during that time. Cousins did lose his top two receivers in free agency but still has a solid group of pass catchers to work with this season. Cousins can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some leagues.
