Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will be the first-team quarterback during offseason workouts, according to head Jay Gruden, but Gruden also said he expects QB Kirk Cousins and QB Colt McCoy to be on the roster when the regular season begins.
Fantasy Tip: Griffin has the most upside among the three, but his injury history and the lack of support he seems to have received from the coaching staff at times makes him a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option. He is worth taking a chance on in drafts but only after you have secured a more reliable starting quarterback.

Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon's production slipped last year largely because of instability at the quarterback position, according to head coach Jay Gruden, and Gruden said that he plans to have Garcon's numbers go "back up" in 2015.
Fantasy Tip: While the idea is nice in theory, there is no guarantee that there will be stability under center in Washington this season either, and the presence of DeSean Jackson makes it very unlikely that Garcon will ever duplicate his 113-catch season from 2013. Draft him as a WR3.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins do not have a clear starting quarterback, so Mariota could compete for the starting job if he is selected by the Redskins. Mariota would be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he wins a starting job in the league.

Free-agent WR Santana Moss (Redskins) could re-sign with the Washington Redskins this offseason, but the two sides have not had a lot of talks to this point. The team likely will see what happens during the draft before making a decision on Moss.

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said the team would not hesitate to draft a quarterback with their fifth overall pick in this year's draft. Gruden later said that the decision to draft a quarterback has not yet been determined, however. On a related note, the Redskins have until early May to pick up the option on QB Robert Griffin III.

Fantasy Tip: The 5-foot-8 Thompson had just three carries for 12 yards in his rookie '14 campaign. He's worth keeping an eye on, but his fantasy potential is pretty limited to an RB5 flyer right now.

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III's option must be picked up by May 3. General manager Scot McCloughan said the team has had discussions about Griffin's option and that they are still talking it through.
Fantasy Tip: Griffin has had trouble staying healthy so far in his young career, so it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see Griffin be released. When healthy, however, Griffin is a tremendous dual-threat fantasy quarterback. Stay tuned leading up to the May 3 deadline.

Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan said that the team will go with the best player available in the 2015 NFL Draft with the No. 5 overall pick, which means that they could take a quarterback in that spot. McCloughan could be compelled to take Oregon QB Marcus Mariota if he's available at No. 5, even after the team said QB Robert Griffin III was the team's starter a month ago. McCloughan doesn't think anyone will be handed a job, and they'll have to compete to win a spot.
Fantasy Tip: Griffin is the team's starting quarterback right now, but he'll have to earn it in training camp this summer, and that task will become tougher if Mariota is on the roster in July. If Griffin indeed winds up being the starter in Week 1, he'll have to prove himself in the fantasy landscape as well. Consider him a QB2 with upside for more if he stays healthy.

The Washington Redskins could trade out of their fifth overall draft pick in this year's NFL Draft, as teams are increasingly looking to trade up to select Oregon QB Marcus Mariota. "There is speculation that the Jets (at No. 6) could go for Marcus Mariota if he does fall to them. Possibly there's a team that is looking to jump over the Jets and draft Mariota. The Redskins, who we know gave up all those picks to draft RG3, could wind up reaping some of those rewards of trading down at No. 5," NFL media analyst Daniel Jeremiah said.

Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy's one-year deal is worth $1.5 million. He received a $150,000 signing bonus and a 2015 salary of $850,000. He'll receive $31,250 bonuses per game for being on the active roster up to $750,000.

The Washington Redskins are reportedly interested in Oregon QB Marcus Mariota with the No. 5 overall pick in the NFL Draft. However, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports believes the Redskins are trying to stimulate a trade ahead of the No. 5 pick, pushing another player down the board.
Fantasy Tip: The general feeling is that the Redskins are playing games and aren't seriously interested in Mariota, but you never know. Robert Griffin III has been injury-prone and so-so lately, and Kirk Cousins hasn't taken the bull by the horns when given the opportunity to start.

Updating a previous item, Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy re-signed with the team on a one-year deal Tuesday, March 17, according to a source. McCoy started four games in 2014 and came off the bench to rally the team to a win in a fifth. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
