Redskins | DeSean Jackson owns NFC East

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:59:48 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson caught nine passes for 243 yards and a score in two games against the Philadelphia Eagles last season, continuing a trend of big performances against NFC East opponents. "I'm called a Cowboy killer," Jackson said. "They call me the Cowboy killer. I'm a Giants killer, I'm a Cowboys killer, now I'm an Eagles killer, too."

Fantasy Tip: Jackson is a big-play receiver, and while he can occasionally be a boom-or-bust option, he should produce WR2 numbers when all is said and done.

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:44:27 -0700

Washington Redskins CB David Amerson is the team's preferred choice for the No. 3 defensive back with CB DeAngelo Hall coming off the bench in nickel packages, but if Amerson struggles, they "won't hesitate to give Hall a bigger role," according to Rich Tandler of RealRedskins.com.

Redskins | Robert Griffin critiqued

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 12:29:32 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III's decision-making, fundamentals, footwork and his inability to find open receivers are all reasons why Griffin isn't good enough to be successful in the NFL, in the opinion of ESPN NFL analyst Mark Brunell.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin has certainly been a disappointment since taking the league by storm in his rookie season. He has yet to play a full season in his three years in the NFL, and his games played have decreased every year, from 15 to 13 to 9 since 2012. As Brunell also said, Griffin does have the skill set to succeed, but he's too risky to draft as a QB1.

Redskins | Pierre Garcon may have bigger role

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 11:13:25 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon could be featured more often in the passing game this season based on the offseason workouts. Garcon often lined up to the right of the quarterback during the workouts even though he has been used mostly on the left side. Head coach Jay Gruden said he was impressed with Garcon's work this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Garcon saw a significant drop in his receiving yards last season from 1,346 in 2013 to 752 in 2014. Garcon could be more involved in the passing game if the team has stability at the quarterback position. Garcon could be an option in the middle to late rounds of most fantasy drafts this season.

Redskins | Washington backup QB job up for grabs

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 21:06:52 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy and QB Kirk Cousins have created no separation from each other in their battle to be the primary backup quarterback in 2015, and head coach Jay Gruden said their performance in the preseason games could be the deciding factor.

Fantasy Tip: With Robert Griffin III slated to start, McCoy and Cousins will need an injury or extremely poor play on the part of RGIII to have any fantasy value in 2015.

Redskins | Robert Griffin feeling better

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 15:27:01 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III said he's feeling better than he's felt in a while. "I just think we're all feeling better about what we're doing," Griffin said. "We know a lot more than last year. And for me as a player, you always have to be confident. Sometimes you have to throw a little swag on it."

Fantasy Tip: Griffin has had a positive offseason, and head coach Jay Gruden has even taken notice with his development. The big question for Griffin is can he stay healthy? He's coming off a season in which he suffered a dislocated ankle. In Griffin's three-year career so far, he hasn't played in all 16 games even once. The talent is there, and he has more value because of his ability to run the football, but he's too risky to be taken as a starting fantasy quarterback.

Redskins | RG3 making progress

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 18:09:04 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III has been impressing head coach Jay Gruden this offseason. "The more he plays, the more success he has, the more confidence he's going to build up as a player and the more confident this whole offense is going to be with him under center," Gruden said of Griffin. "That comes with time. I don't think anybody lacks confidence with him at quarterback. I think the transition for him into a new season last season was a little bit rocky for all of us. When you have the same system going in for Year 2, I think he's going to get better," said Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: RG3 will likely slide to the bottom of 2015 fantasy drafts, but if he can stay healthy there is tremendous upside to be had. Owners who miss out on a top-10 quarterback should take Griffin as their No. 2, as he still has the potential to be an elite fantasy asset.
