Redskins | Terrelle Pryor destined for Pro Bowl?

Sat, 22 Jul 2017 08:08:47 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Terrelle Pryor may be new to the receiver position, but former position coach Al Saunders would be "shocked if he isn't in the Pro Bowl," according to ESPN.com's John Keim.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins need to replace a pair of 1,000-yard receivers in Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson, and there is a strong belief Pryor and Jamison Crowder will be able to do the job. At 6-4 and nearly 230 pounds with incredible athleticism, Pryor should be able to dominate in the red zone as well in a way Garcon and Jackson could not. He should be a solid WR2 in fantasy, capable of being a WR1.

Redskins | Josh Doctson key for Kirk Cousins?

Thu, 20 Jul 2017 20:26:23 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson's progression this season could help determine if QB Kirk Cousins decides to sign a long-term extension, according to JP Finlay of CSNMidAtlantic.com.

Fantasy Tip: Doctson should be the fourth option in a pass-happy attack, and he can be considered an upside WR5 coming off an injury-plagued rookie year.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins wants to stay in Washington

Tue, 18 Jul 2017 16:54:56 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins' first choice is to stay with the Redskins despite both sides not agreeing on a long-term deal. Cousins said he would love to stay in Washington long term and has hope for getting a deal done next offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The bottom line is that Cousins will still play for the Redskins in 2017. He's set to make a lot of money next year, though, whether that's from the Redskins or someone else. As for fantasy, Cousins has QB1 appeal after averaging 4,541.5 yards and 27 touchdowns the last two seasons, not to mention he's scored nine times on the ground in that span.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins was offered big money

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 13:47:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins was offered $53 million guaranteed as part of the Redskins' offer in early May, according to team president Bruce Allen.

Fantasy Tip: We don't know who Cousins will be playing for next season, but we do know that team will need to break the bank in order to sign him. He has quickly turned into one of the most prolific quarterbacks in the NFL over the last two years. View him as a low-end QB1 heading into 2017.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins will play under tag again

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 13:38:35 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins was not given a new deal prior to the deadline Monday, July 17. He will play under the franchise tag for a second straight year.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins will be the beneficiary of a significant payday next offseason. As for this season, he remains a QB1 candidate despite losing both DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins' best offer came in May

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 06:04:57 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins' best contract offer was received in May, which was higher than $20 million per year. The contract only added one guaranteed year, but it was worth less than the $23.9 million he's slated to make via the franchise tag.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins has averaged 4,542 yards, 27 touchdowns and 11.5 interceptions the last two seasons. He has completed nearly 70 percent of his passes in that span and sits just below the elite tier as a QB1 in fantasy.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins open to deal after season

Sun, 16 Jul 2017 12:40:27 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins is not expected to sign a long-term deal before the 4 p.m. ET deadline Monday, July 17. However, Cousins is reportedly open to doing a deal with the team after this season as there has been "a positive, constructive tone" to recent contract talks, per a source.

Fantasy Tip: It appears one of the NFL's longest ongoing sagas will continue for another few months. Cousins reportedly wants to bet on himself yet again in hopes he can maximize his earnings and potentially reset the market at quarterback as a free agent in 2018. In fantasy, he has settled in as a midrange QB1.

Redskins | Two Redskins working with a legend

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 10:14:42 -0700

Washington Redskins WRs Terrelle Pryor and Jamison Crowder have been working out with former NFL WR Randy Moss.

Fantasy Tip: Working out with the likes of Moss can only be beneficial to a wide receiver. Pryor and Crowder will be Washington's top two receivers this year with DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon gone. Pryor is an ideal WR2 target, while Crowder has WR2 appeal in PPR leagues in one of the most pass happy offenses in the NFL.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins deal still unlikely

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 05:33:04 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins is likely to play for the franchise tag in 2017, and both sides are complacent with it, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins has had two-and-a-half brilliant seasons in a row and nearly threw for 5,000 yards last season. He rates just below the elite tier in fantasy, but he's not a bad consolation prize.

Redskins | Washington, Kirk Cousins still not close

Wed, 12 Jul 2017 14:31:48 -0700

The Washington Redskins still have not made much progress in contract talks with QB Kirk Cousins and the two sides are not close to a deal. The Redskins have until Monday, July 17, to sign Cousins to a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins has posted terrific numbers over the last two seasons and is looking for a lucrative contract but has not reached an agreement yet. Cousins will continue to be with the Redskins for at least one more season and can still be considered a No. 1 fantasy quarterback even though he lost his top two receivers in free agency.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins deal still a long shot

Mon, 10 Jul 2017 09:05:10 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins signing a long-term deal before the July 17 deadline remains a long shot.

Fantasy Tip: Our apologies for being Captain Obvious on a soap opera that has been stagnant for a couple of years. Cousins' play has also made him an obvious QB1 in fantasy after the top tier is gone.

Redskins | Three WAS LBs may compete for one spot

Sun, 09 Jul 2017 15:15:57 -0700

Washington Redskins LBs Martrell Spaight, Chris Carter and Zach Vigil could compete for one roster spot during training camp if the team decides to keep only four inside linebackers. Spaight may be the leading candidate for the spot because the team liked how he played at inside linebacker in 2016.

Sat, 08 Jul 2017 07:51:43 -0700

Redskins | Vernon Davis still elusive

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 20:04:36 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis forced 13 missed tackles last year, the most by any tight end, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Tip: Davis isn't locked into a big role in Washington's passing attack, but if Jordan Reed misses time, which he has been known to do, Davis becomes a potential fantasy starter. He is one of more appealing TE2 candidates.

Redskins | Samaje Perine may be limited early

Wed, 05 Jul 2017 12:38:11 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine could receive limited touches during the early portion of the season but has the chance to lead the team in carries during some games in November and December, in the opinion of CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on Perine during the preseason to see what his role will be for Week 1. Perine should see more touches as the season goes on, which will make him a value option in some leagues. Perine can be considered a No. 4 or No. 5 running back in fantasy leagues and can be a handcuff to Rob Kelley.
