Redskins | DeSean Jackson not practicing

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 10:15:34 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) is on the stationary bike as the rest of the team stretches for practice Thursday, Sept. 18. The plan is for Jackson to test his shoulder in practice Friday, Sept. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Even with the injury, one would have to think Jackson will be on the field on Sunday with a chance to play his former team. He is an intriguing option in FantasyScore with a price of $6,000 (12% of cap), but the injury does make him a risky play.

Redskins | Robert Griffin could return in eight weeks

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 14:11:47 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (ankle) could return around eight weeks after head coach Jon Gruden said Griffin will be in a cast for the next 10 days. After that, he'll likely spend four to six weeks rehabbing his dislocated left ankle. QB Kirk Cousins will continue to start in place of Griffin in the meantime.

Fantasy Tip: You can avoid Griffin at FantasyScore for a while, and he may not be of much use when he returns, either. Meanwhile, Cousins ($7,600) is an attractive option against the Philadelphia Eagles if you're willing to pass up some of the bigger names at quarterback.

Redskins | Robert Griffin will wear cast

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 11:50:43 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (ankle) will wear a cast on his dislocated ankle for 10 days and then will be re-evaluated after the cast is taken off.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin will be sidelined several weeks because of his injury, so owners will need to look elsewhere for a starting quarterback. Kirk Cousins could be a waiver wire option for desperate owners.

Redskins | McCoy: DeSean Jackson will play

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 10:28:47 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) will play in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, his former team, according to Eagles RB LeSean McCoy. "He's playing," McCoy said. "He said he's definitely playing. That's the first thing he texted, he said 'I'm playing.'"

Fantasy Tip: Jackson is a gamer and wouldn't miss the opportunity to try and torch his old team. Because of that, he makes for an interesting play at $6,000 (12.0% of cap) over at FantasyScore. His health is a risk, though.

Redskins | Jordan Reed not practicing

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 10:20:26 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17, and is working on the side.

Fantasy Tip: Niles Paul filled in for Reed in Week 2 and appeared to have a good chemistry with Kirk Cousins during the game. Paul only costs $4,000 on FantasyScore this week, which would make him a solid addition to starting lineups if he gets the start.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson working on the side

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 10:18:56 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17, and is working on the side.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will know more about Jackson's status for Week 3 as the week goes on. Owners would have to spend $6,000 on Jackson if they want to use him on FantasyScore this week, which may be too expensive because of his questionable health.

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) is getting treatment on his injured shoulder and said that some of the soreness is going away. He is considered day-to-day at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will learn more about his status based on his practice participation this week. Jackson costs $6,000 on FantasyScore this week, but owners could consider spending their money on healthier receivers.

Redskins | Kirk Cousins better suited for offense?

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 14:09:44 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has the skill set suited for what head coach Jay Gruden wants to do with the offense, according to a person with knowledge of Gruden's thinking. Gruden thinks Cousins can succeed in the offense better than QB Robert Griffin III (ankle), but Gruden understood it would have been impossible to make a quarterback change without Griffin being injured. Gruden was having a hard time getting Griffin to grasp the drop-back passing system the last few months.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins looked good replacing Griffin, going 22-for-33 for 250 yards and two touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has another nice matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, and he might be worth a play in FantasyScore with what will likely be a bargain price.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson says he'll play

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 13:15:05 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder), who is day-to-day with a shoulder sprain, said he plans to play in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a source that has talked with Jackson. Head coach Jay Gruden said Jackson's playing status will be determined based on pain throughout the week.

Fantasy Tip: The matchup could be a good one for Jackson against the 'Skins in Week 3, but for now, it's best to plan on avoiding him for your FantasyScore lineups.

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 12:11:49 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (ankle) will not be placed on season-ending Reserve/Injured, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: This is good news, obviously, but Griffin is still expected to miss an extended period of time. Kirk Cousins is a viable replacement in his stead.
