Washington Redskins impending free-agent QB Kirk Cousins has not made much progress in his contract talks with the Redskins at this point, according to sources. The team may place the franchise tag on Cousins if the two sides are not able to reach an agreement.
Fantasy Tip: Cousins should be the starting quarterback for the Redskins in 2016, but it is not known what his contract will look like. He finished the season with 4,166 yards and 29 touchdowns. Cousins could be a starting fantasy option against some opponents, but he likely will be a solid No. 2 quarterback in most leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin will have a chance to find a starting job in the offseason but may have to accept a backup role depending on the interest in him. Griffin has not posted great numbers over the last few seasons and is not a great option if he wins a starting job.

Chicago Bears impending free-agent RB Matt Forte could be pursued by the Washington Redskins this offseason since he can be a threat as a runner and a receiver, but his age and asking price could be sticking points for the team.
Fantasy Tip: Forte probably would have the chance to receive solid playing time if he decides to join the Redskins. Forte could be a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues if he joins the team and receives a majority of the work at the position.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins could be a midrange QB1 in fantasy drafts next season as there are questions about most quarterbacks after the top three or four.

Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris will be able to test free agency this offseason, according to team president Bruce Allen. If Morris is not offered a deal to his liking, then the Redskins may entertain re-signing Morris.
Fantasy Tip: Cud-chewing cows were probably more entertaining than Morris last season. Morris averaged a measly 1.45 yards after contact in 2015. His lack of production and disappointing decline could hinder teams from taking a chance on him, but he has seen success in the NFL, particularly in his rookie year. If Morris does leave, Matt Jones is the favorite to take over as the lead back, but he left something to be wanted last season, too.

Fantasy Tip: Cousins had a breakout season, and he's a low-end QB1 in fantasy that could have some upside.

Fantasy Tip: Morris isn't expected to return to Washington, but he could land in a situation to still be a productive RB2 in fantasy.

Washington Redskins WR Andre Roberts is signed through the 2017 season with a cap hit of $5 million for 2016. Beat writer John Keim suggests the emergence of WR Jamison Crowder as the No. 1 slot receiver could mean Roberts is expendable. He has posted 46 receptions with two touchdowns in two seasons with Washington.
Fantasy Tip: Roberts appeared to be headed for a big role when he signed with the team in 2014, but the team added DeSean Jackson to push him down the depth chart. Going elsewhere and starting over might be the best thing for his fantasy value, although it's uncertain if he will be cut or not at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Garcon is coming off a quietly productive year in which he caught 72 passes for 777 yards and six touchdowns -- all improvements from 2014. Jordan Reed and DeSean Jackson would obviously cut into his production again, but Garcon should still be viewed as a WR3 if he stays with the Redskins.

Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris may not return next season, as previously reported, which could lead the Redskins to draft a running back or sign a free-agent running back, according to CSNWashington.com's Rich Tandler. Tandler said depth is needed at the position and that RBs Chris Thompson and Silas Redd are both coming off injuries and aren't workhorse backs.
Fantasy Tip: Matt Jones would likely be the heir apparent if Morris leaves. Jones showed flashes of starting ability in his rookie season, but he may not be the answer the Redskins are looking for. There's still plenty of time for this situation to play out, though, so stay tuned.
