Titans | Bishop Sankey asked to add weight

Wed, 27 May 2015 18:59:38 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has been asked by the team to add some weight this offseason, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. The team would like him to be around 215 to 220 pounds. Whisenhunt said he would also like Sankey to have a full grasp of the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey rushed for 569 yards and only two touchdowns last season but should see most of the carries this upcoming season. Sankey could be an option in the middle rounds of drafts this season but may not be an every-week starting option.

Titans | Marcus Mariota impresses with speed

Wed, 27 May 2015 08:45:08 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota has impressed teammates with his speed in their opening day of organized team activities Tuesday, May 26. Titans LB Zach Brown, who is known for his speed, was particularly impressed. "One time he took off I was guarding Delanie (Walker) and I turned around and I was like, 'Where is he?' He is fast. He impressed me. He is still a rookie and he has to learn, but he is a cool guy. I haven't seen him get frustrated yet," Brown said.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota will have to flop to lose the starting job. His raw athleticism should make him a QB2 with playability against the right teams. He's best left for daily play at FantasyScore.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham sidelined

Tue, 26 May 2015 18:19:27 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham (hamstring) had to leave organized team activities early Tuesday, May 26, after he aggravated a hamstring injury. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he does not think the injury is serious, but Green-Beckham could sit out a week.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Green-Beckham is dealing with a serious injury. He should be ready for the start of training camp if the injury is minor. Green-Beckham likely will have a solid role in the passing game this season and could be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Titans | Marcus Mariota to work on deal

Sun, 17 May 2015 10:58:06 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is scheduled to begin contract talks with the team Monday, May 18, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota has a good chance of winning the starting quarterback job over Zach Mettenberger during training camp. Even if he starts, Mariota is probably not more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in 2015.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham connecting with QB

Fri, 15 May 2015 18:58:28 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham said he sent a text to QB Marcus Mariota right after he was drafted and is trying to become close with the quarterback in a hurry. "I told him, every time you're in the weight room, make sure you bring me," Green-Beckham said.

Fantasy Tip: Green-Beckham has elite size and athleticism, but it remains to be seen if he can put a troubled college career behind him and succeed in the NFL. Still, his potential makes him worth a late-round flier in fantasy drafts.

Titans | Marcus Mariota comfortable under center

Fri, 15 May 2015 18:14:27 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota said it was different being under center for the first time during rookie minicamp Friday, May 15, but added that he already feels comfortable in the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Mariota is expected to open the 2015 season as the starter, but there will likely be a lengthy adjustment period as he learns how to play in a pro-style offense. Consider him a low-end QB2, but he could make strides as the year goes on.

Titans | Marcus Mariota looking good so far

Fri, 15 May 2015 16:19:58 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota survived his first rookie minicamp and impressed the coaches with his understanding of the playbook, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Whisenhunt also doesn't think Mariota's smaller size will create a problem with him taking snaps under center after he participated in a spread offense in his college career. "I don't see that as a problem," Whisenhunt said of Mariota lining up under center. "He's put a lot of work in. He seems pretty good. I mean, until we get into a game and you get the A-gap blitzers in there or people are pressuring, you don't know how they are going to handle it."

Fantasy Tip: Mariota's strengths are his pure athleticism and smarts in the classroom, but will his undersized frame allow him to succeed in the NFL? It remains to be seen. What we do know is it'll be a work in progress in his rookie season, and plenty of growing pains are likely to come in 2015. Mariota is a low-end QB2 in fantasy leagues in his rookie season, with upside for more.

Titans | Zach Mettenberger in better shape

Fri, 15 May 2015 15:45:55 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Zach Mettenberger, who plans to put up a fight for the starting quarterback job with QB Marcus Mariota this summer, said the offseason has treated him well, and he's down to 225 pounds. "Moving a lot quicker, no longer worried about my knee which is a great feeling. But I loved getting a chance to hang out with guys outside of the facility. It was an eye-opening experience to learn what these guys are about," Mettenberger said.

Fantasy Tip: It might take a lot of convincing or even an injury to Mariota for Mettenberger to unseat him as the expected starter going into Week 1. Because of that, Mettenberger should have zero fantasy appeal in drafts this fall. Mariota will be a weak QB2 that will put up numbers purely on his athleticism alone, but the growing pains figure to outweight the positive in his rookie campaign.

Titans | Defense will test Marcus Mariota

Fri, 15 May 2015 09:13:21 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota will be tested by his defense in training camp as assistant head coach Dick LeBeau is under direction to throw everything at the rookie that he can. All indications are that Mariota will have to fail miserably to lose the starting job in the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: The team has said the goal is for Mariota to start as a rookie. He'll have to fend off Zach Mettenberger, but Mariota rates as a midrange QB2.

Titans | Former HC talks Dorial Green-Beckham

Thu, 14 May 2015 15:40:39 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham has grown up and is ready to take the NFL by storm, according to Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops. "A lot of times, through different circumstances, young people learn from mistakes, and I felt like he did," Stoops said. "There's a maturing process… and I believe Dorial has grown. [He] has so much going for him. I think he is going to have a super career in the NFL."

Fantasy Tip: Green-Beckham still has plenty to prove before he commences a successful professional football career. The Titans already have Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Hakeem Nick and Harry Douglas, so Green-Beckham will need to work his way up the wide receiver ranks. He should be in WR5 territory for now.
