Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb (calf) needs to improve his work ethic, according to running backs coach Sylvester Croom. "I like his natural running ability, his natural running instincts," Croom said. "But he has a long way to go. He has to learn how to be a pro as far as work ethic, taking care of his body, getting in here early and doing the little things it takes to be a pro. He still hasn't quite learned what being professional means, so he has to learn that. There's no scholarships here, and his work ethic has to be better. He has to learn to practice like you play in a game. Once he does that, he has a chance to be a good football player."
Fantasy Tip: Cobb is in the RB5 or watch list range as Bishop Sankey seems to have taken hold of the featured role.

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has impressed his coaches with improvement this preseason. "I think Bishop made significant improvement last week in practices as far as getting downhill and hitting the hole and it showed up in the game," running backs coach Sylvester Croom said. "That is something he has to continue to work on. I think from the first game to the last game his improvement was significant, and he played with a lot of confidence. He has to continue to work on that where it is consistently done that way. Pass protection, assignment-wise, he is doing a good job, but we still have to improve on technique. He needs to make the running style consistent."
Fantasy Tip: Sankey in on the bubble of the RB2/RB3 range but appears to be in good shape with David Cobb (calf) struggling to stay on the field.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is losing valuable playing time and likely falls back into the RB5 or watch list area.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota and the rest of the offense want to improve on third-down conversions and finishing drives Friday, Aug. 28, against the Kansas City Chiefs. Mariota said the Titans could have done a lot better on third downs in their last game against the St. Louis Rams. Mariota added that he wants the team to build on not turning the ball over, getting first downs, playing with rhythm and building chemistry.
Fantasy Tip: It's not that Mariota played poorly last week; he just could have led some more fruitful drives. There will obviously be some growing pains for Mariota. He can't be expected to play flawlessly in just his second preseason game. Be patient with Mariota, and don't draft him as your starting fantasy quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Walker will probably go undrafted in standard fantasy leagues, but he's a backup sleeper tight end selection worth monitoring in deeper leagues. Marcus Mariota could rely on the tight end often as a safety valve in his rookie season.

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey had 45 yards on six carries in the team's second preseason game against the St. Louis Rams, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt saw improvement from Sankey from the first week of the preseason. Sankey had just 15 yards on eight carries in Week 1 of the preseason against the Atlanta Falcons.
Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen if Sankey's improvement will be enough to hold off impressive rookie David Cobb, who appears to be in line for the majority of work in the backfield. Even if Cobb wins the starting job, Sankey could see meaningful repetitions and be valuable for running back depth in deeper fantasy leagues as a handcuff to Cobb.

Tennessee Titans backup QB Zach Mettenberger has performed at a high level in training camp and the preseason, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt laughed off a suggestion that the Titans should trade Mettenberger before the season starts. Mettenberger has gone 15-for-20 for 220 yards and two touchdowns with one interception so far in preseason for a passer rating of 122.9.
Fantasy Tip: The Titans are sticking with Marcus Mariota as their starting QB to begin the season, but Mettenberger is proving his worth as Tennessee's backup with a solid preseason. It seems unlikely they'll deal him in the event Mariota is injured or struggles. Mettenberger isn't worth owning in any fantasy leagues.
